  1. QUOTE (GeddyLeefan2112 @ May 7 2012, 09:04 PM) I had no luck with MT Columbus and then I had to leave for work. Of course when I come back nothing is coming up.... Pretty disappointed. Guess I still have a few more options. I missed the presale myself, but I'm definitely gonna try Wednesday morning. I've had bad luck with Musictoday anyways, so I hope the Live Nation one is better. I gotta get my tickets for Cbus and Indy then
  2. I definitely see the similarities. I thought a lot of people noticed this?
  3. I was thinking of just printing out one of my favorite pictures of the band on good photograph-quality paper and sending it in with a short letter, hoping for autographs in return. I'd be completely satisfied with that
  4. Five on this upcoming tour. Can't wait
  5. Red Sector A for some reason. I haven't listened to that song in a couple days. I guess that's about to change
  6. QUOTE (metaldad @ May 5 2012, 10:54 AM) I mailed my book about a week before the show. I sent it with a prepaid return address envelope . It was returned to me about a week after the show, i really did not believe Neil would sign it, but he did. It does work, good luck p.s. I put Att- Neil Peart / Rush Wow, is it really that easy? I have to try this But hmm.. what to send..
  7. QUOTE (Nate2112 @ May 5 2012, 05:24 PM) Geddy Lee ist Krieg! Geddy is war?
  8. QUOTE (Silas Lang @ May 3 2012, 09:13 PM) Not sure how unpopular it is but in my opinion out of 18 studio albums and about 160 songs, there ain't a bad one in the bunch. Apparently you don't have hair-loss issues or an annoying, reappearing itch
  9. QUOTE (metaldad @ May 4 2012, 10:03 AM) This is a joke right ? Well that wasn't my intention, but that's what it appears. On a somewhat serious note though, I forgot to mention the phrase "handle with kid gloves." I had never heard that used before, so I had to look it up. And ever since, I've been hearing the phrase a LOT. Funny how that is. Also, this is sort of silly, but the line from Mission "they would likely have gladly exchanged them.." has also sort of altered the way I speak sometimes. I like how the sentenced is structured, so now I find myself using the word 'likely' in a similar fashion. And what Geddyrulz said about the word norm- I had to write a short essay on social deviance, and I think I used the phrase "deviate from the norm," about 5 or 6 times without even thinking about it
  10. QUOTE (Syrinx @ May 4 2012, 11:23 AM) Here is why Geddy was in a suit. Governor Generals Awards QUOTE Their 20th studio album, Clockwork Angels, was released in spring 2012. Did I miss something???
  11. Hate to jump on the bandwagon, but Analog Kid. Followed closely by The Weapon and Digital Man, since I've never seen those live.
  12. When a reporter on Sportscenter uses the phrase "handle with kid gloves" and the song is stuck in your head for the remainder of the day True story
  13. QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ Apr 28 2012, 07:42 PM) QUOTE (The Sphere @ Jul 12 2010, 10:23 AM) Good News First Delve Someone (3 words) Need Some Love! here's one.... Linen Rucksack Iz (2 words) I cannot figure this out.. which is a shame, because I wanted to post my own
  14. QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 3 2012, 06:06 PM) QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ May 3 2012, 07:01 PM) I'm indifferent to Jacob's Ladder Me too I don't get the hornet-like buzz around that song.... it's a cool album piece but there's a billion other songs I'd rather hear live. I think it is boring.. It's a decent song, but it doesn't get nearly as many listens by me as most other songs.
  15. QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 3 2012, 06:12 PM) QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ May 3 2012, 06:53 PM) I like both albums, but I voted SA by a slim margin. VT has better lyrics, but I think SA has better melodies, even if most people think the album is boring. And I hate to be the upteenth person to bring it up, but the production issue with VT has kept me from really enjoying the album. edit: QUOTE (CrossedSignals)I realize that VT's production is a big stumbling block that simply prevents many people from enjoying the album. I can respect that. I think that if Rush had given the arrangements more room to breathe, used less overdubbing, and went with a more traditional mix/mastering job, VT would rank in most people's top 10. The songwriting and performances are very strong. I agree with you here. I bet I could really enjoy the album if it weren't so painful to listen to at times. I can't wait until we finally get that long-overdue full-album remix! I thought what they did with OLV and Earthshine on Retrospective 3 was very impressive. Have you heard those remixes? No I haven't. Where can I find them? Edit: Youtube is my friend Edited again: Yeah... I'd definitely rate VT higher if all the songs sounded like that. That is so much better. Aren't they working on a re-release of VT anyways?
  16. As a woman, I find this thread HILARIOUS
  17. QUOTE (savagegrace26 @ May 3 2012, 06:42 PM) Be-bop or a one drop or a hip hop lite pop metallist Running dog revisionist?
  18. QUOTE (rushgoober @ May 3 2012, 06:36 PM) QUOTE (goose @ May 3 2012, 03:29 PM)QUOTE (Digitallware @ May 3 2012, 04:05 PM) I think their first album kicks ass and stands up strong against most modern bands debut albums! Its one of my fav rock albums and I'm not ashamed to say it loud and clear! Absof*ckinglutely! I can't help but to shriek OOOOOHHHHH YEAHHH OOOOOHHHH YEAHHHH whenever Finding my Way comes on
  19. There are a few words that I did not know the definition of before (and while) listening to Rush, and since then I have looked them up and added some new words to my vocabulary. Dirge (a funeral song or tune, or one expressing mourning in commemoration of the dead) Asunder (into separate parts; in or into pieces) Cathode (the electrode or terminal by which current leaves an electrolytic cell, voltaic cell, battery, etc) I'm sure there's some more, but these are the three that I specifically remember. How has Rush expanded your vocabulary? Edited to include terms added to your vocabulary
  20. Oh, I gotta think about this one for a minute.. I LOVE Hold Your Fire I typically love a lot of songs that most people dislike, ie: High Water How It Is Red Lenses Good News First Second Nature The album version of Resist Neurotica The Big Wheel You Bet Your Life Face Up Hand Over Fist War Paint The Color of Right ..to name a few I'm bored with Moving Pictures, and I typically skip most of the songs. It's a great album, I think I've just listened to it WAY too many times The boys lost their sex appeal after 1978, IMO 2112 isn't in my list of top 10 favorite songs Neither is Xanadu That doesn't mean I don't still love them, though The Cygnus duology is MUCH better than 2112 Jacob's Ladder is EXTREMELY overrated So is Mystic Rhythms (though I will admit, that song is finally starting to grow on me) And Armor & Sword And Losing It I think HYF, Presto and Roll the Bones are all very solid albums that each get equal play time in the car I actually enjoy the rap portion of RTB. I recognize it as sort of a joke, so I often laugh with it But I cannot say the same about ITIGB or Dog Years. Those are just bad songs, period I love Geddy's vocals from the 70s, especially the indiscernible ones, such as By-Tor and BB&B How It Is is my favorite song from VT, followed by Vapor Trail Everyday Glory is one of the best songs. Ever. By any band, any decade. This is not opinion, this is fact That's all I can think of right now
  21. QUOTE (losingit2k @ May 2 2012, 08:39 PM)I'm sure Jacobs Ladder and Xanadu are on top of everyone's list but I have others as well Whoaa.. I glanced at your post and realized that I forgot Xanadu on my list... What was I thinking?? I'm indifferent to Jacob's Ladder
