  1. The Trees Exhibit: Socioeconomic Changes in Our Time featuring Oak Lecturer Lerxst and Dirk the Maple
  2. Kinda cute until he opens his mouth. I think I prefer the Warner Brothers version. Much funnier. :)
  3. Hard to believe that is the same three guys that were sporting kimonos just 10 years earlier. http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/images/books/classic-rock-10.2004-11.jpg Gotta love the kimonos. And Neil is *not* at all high :madra: :smoke: ETA: and the blue eye shadow....

Signed, Sammy Hagar :P Edit: stupid phone...
  5. Great pictures. Their faces are so full of character...who cares if they're one of the seven deadly sins...Sloths are fantastic!!! They're amazing! :D They are amazing. They look so happy... for being sin incarnate. Wonderful post, SWS. It's nice to see things that don't want to hurt me. It reminds me of the Far Side cartoon with the sloth...well, the sloth got him. Ol' Hank never was a quick draw. :)

A sister who got you into Rush? +500 points :D I liked your blog entry. Genuine and honest with a sense of humour...a lifelong a Rush fan who writes of his love for the band. What's not to love about that. :D You'll fit in on TRF very well. Welcome! :)
  7. It sounds horrendous. :o Why is that person letting one crawl around on his hand?!? That's crazy! That's what I was thinking. I thought perhaps it was dead and posed that way , but it's very much alive. Here's a link to the article associated with the photo: http://www.myrmecos....the-bullet-ant/ http://myrmecos.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/clavata9.jpg "And just how dangerous is the infamous bullet ant? Actually, not so much as you’d think. Stories of people coming to permanent harm or death from Paraponera stings are rare. Mostly, the experience just hurts a lot. Or so I’m told. In taking these photographs not once did any of the ants try to sting me, even when walking on my hand." Interesting. I suppose if you know what you're doing :haz: I still wouldn't let one crawl around on my hand. That's just tempting fate.

  9. A cool, but scary bunch. Although, I'd prefer it if a poisonous snake didn't have the word "Common" in it's name Oooo...asps. Very deadly.
  10. Bingo! I get annoyed when I hear how Alex's stuff isn't difficult to play or that it's all about Geddy and Neil and how technically difficult it is to play their stuff. There is technical ability and then there is feel and soul. No one can touch Alex's feel. He has the best tone of any guitar player I've ever heard. It's just a beautiful sound that's so crisp and kind of emotional. I have heard plenty of Rush cover bands and, while they can play the tunes, the guitar "sound" just isn't the same. Only Alex can do what he does. The riff in Double Agent. Is it technically hard? Maybe not. Can anyone repeat the same sound? Doubtful. His solo in No One at the Bridge and Limelight are both technically easy to repeat but no one can touch the soul. Tone is so important to me. Songs that come to mind are Red Barchetta, Limelight, Hemispheres, Spirit, Caravan, and Double Agent. The song with the most feel and soul in my opinion is Jacob's Ladder. The part right after "Bright unbroken beams" and Alex comes in with that easy to play, but impossible to repeat sound. It gives me goosebumps You should check out our guitar player. Youtube won't do it much justice but his tone is glorious. Very Lerxst. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK2MnexBLiU That is a very good cover, Kenny. :ebert: Your guitarist's tone is wonderful. :) Thanks. It almost upsets him at times to hear about how good his tone is. "No one ever compliments my playing, just my tone". :( I do tell him though that the tone wouldn't come through if he didn't play so well. :) As a musician, I've always felt that complimenting another musician's tone is one of the highest compliment one can give. You all sound great (great tone) especially since you're covering challenging material. :)

  12. He's so 80s! Jaco in Guitar magazine?
  13. Extra value in this post :ebert: The Mossy Frog is awesome! Some of the others look totally weird. The Amazon Horned Frog looks like Rygel I thought he looked like HypnoToad :) Rygel?
  14. How beautiful! I had to have a really good look, and only just managed to see a cat-like appearance in the first two pics. :) I think it's the long legs in the second picture that are particularly cat-like. I imagine they'd make a cute pet They are cute...awww... At least until they eat your chickens and go rummaging through the trashcan. Bad chudditch, bad. :tsk: Chudditch sounds like a Harry Potter game.
  15. :ebert: A funny read Thanks for the link. :) :hi:
  16. What the heck's that in the spoiler?! :o You've never seen Tremors? http://www.rottentom....com/m/tremors/ You really haven't missed much. I wondered also. :o Australia has some very odd creatures. A 2 foot earthworm? :o Yikes! Edit: did I say 2? I meant 10...
  17. Wow, from the first two pictures, I thought it was pretty small...then the third picture...that's bigger than I thought That last picture really is the sh1t ;) Same here I thought it was gerbil sized, then... oh... Surprisingly cute, though. Wombat. Interesting. :ebert: Edit: stupid phone...
  18. Ostriches sure are funny looking. But, aw, all the little baby ostriches I love the first photo and the one with the babies. Awww...so cute!
  19. A lot of bands are products of their time. Kansas was cool in the 70's but kind of went MOR as the 80's came in. That's one thing that makes Rush the phenomenon that they are. For the most part, they were able to transcend each decades musical faux-pas and move on. I agree. I love 70s Kansas, but once Steve Walsh left, they went total 80s pop (similar to what Heart, Starship and Chicago did with their sound after personnel changes). All of them are monster musicians though. Edit: stupid phone...
  20. "Nevermore" Too funny... :ebert: I wonder if its named Lenore, or if it sits above a chamber door
