  1. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 11 2012, 10:34 AM) MD pointed out that he had started this thread. I just got offered to attend this show in a few weeks, and was looking to find out what people thought about it...if it's worth it? The best concert I've ever seen. I've got a few decent pictures earlier in this thread from the second time I saw it. I would see it again tonight if I could. Simply the best production of a show you can imagine. Go and have a great time!
  2. Oh, and no pee breaks during a Rush concert ever, except intermission.
  3. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 10 2012, 06:05 PM) QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 10 2012, 05:48 PM) Well if they do play the whole album wouldn't that mean they need to bring along an orchestra and the guy that played the piano on The Garden? As much as I'd like to see that, it may not be feasible And if they do play the album, no pee breaks. I'd rather pee during a song I've seen them play a million times rather than miss a single note of this gem I think the guy that played the piano on The Garden is one Geddy Lee. That isn't a hard piano part at all. As for the pee break, I don't really hear one! I'll go during the break or I'll just go in my pants! The liner notes credit Jason Sniderman as the pianist on The Garden. Although I imagine Geddy could handle it.
  4. I would guess more than half of my CDs are from the 80's. Rush (of course), U2, REM, The Cars, The Alarm, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Cure, The Fixx, Van Halen....
  5. In my Rush All-Time Top Ten. Love it!
  6. We just did VIP for Van Halen. We were center section, row 6. The seats were perfect. Good luck, and have fun!
  7. I have had The Garden stuck in my head for the last two days. I'm not going to say it's my new favorite Rush song or anything, but it is really beautiful, and really powerful. I hope they play it on the tour.
  8. I had my daughter go onto iTunes for me, and make my own version of a Dire Straits Greatest Hits disc. Expresso Love Lady Writer Skateaway Romeo and Juliet Love Over Gold What it Is (Knopfler solo) Tunnel of Love Telegraph Road Twisting by the Pool Solid Rock Sultans of Swing Man, they were good before they went all pop.
  9. I would say the only thing that doesn't work for me is the bluesy-megaphone part of Clockwork Angels. It seems out of place to me.
  10. Here's a couple more pictures. I wish I had brought a real camera instead of my iPhone, but you get the idea.... Here's one of Kool and the Gang. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012028.jpg Eddie's solo http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012091.jpg Diamond Dave, your Ice Cream Man! http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012087.jpg
  11. Today is one of those days every parent dreams of. My daughter brought home her first paycheck.
  12. Just to add, Wolfie was on fire! He played and sang very well. During the soundcheck he was waving his LA Kings shirt at all the Sharks fans in the group.

It was a great setlist. Romeo Delight was blistering. Diamond Dave is not the strongest live vocalist, but last night he really put the effort into it. Staying on his timing, no rambling or forgetting of lyrics. Several people told me it was far better than the Oakland show two nights before. I had a great time, but I'm definitely paying for it this morning. Glad you had a grea time I really did. One of the best concert experiences of my life. They rocked loud and hard. No prob's onstage between Ed and Roth right ? They were having a great time. Big bear hugs all around after the show was over. I think they realized they nailed it. And yes, I got hit by the same train PTD did: The Van Halen Express!! BTW: The VIP thing was worth it, to me. Sitting in the first row watching the sound check was really cool. It was fun partying with everyone. Met some cool people. They had a raffle for a bunch of stuff including equipment used by Alex in LA. Free beer flowed, well....freely. Boy, two hours of unfettered access to Sierra Nevada can really hurt a guy... Our seats were perfect. My only complaint was the food. When we saw Roger Waters it was a full on dinner. This was snacks and paper plates. Overall just a great, great night. I can't say enough how much fun it was and how excellent the show was.

  16. Just returned from seeing Van Halen in San Jose. Perchance to Dream and myself had VIP packages for the show at HP Pavilion. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012027.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012052.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012050.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012049.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/RamsATW/June2012039-1.jpg Section 2, Row 6. I don't know what exactly happened to David Lee Roth, but he decided to show up tonight. He was on it. Just a great show all around!!!!!!!! It was great fun. We had VIP Packages that were supposed to include a backstage tour. They told us that wasn't going to happen. Instead, we got to sit through the sound check first row. It was coolness. Kool and the Gang frakking grooved. What a great choice for an opening act. One of my top 5 concerts of all time.
  17. QUOTE (Perchance to Dream @ Jun 4 2012, 06:40 PM) Is there a dress code? I'm gonna be super pissed if I become persona non grata due to the loincloth. Loincloth? Van Halen tonight!!!

  19. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jun 4 2012, 03:14 PM) Holy shit...the piano part of The Garden just ended. This may be one of my favorite Rush songs ever, its that good. Yeah, that's some good stuff right there.
