  1. 1. Play A Farewell to Kings 2. Fly economy coach on an airline between concert cities (ie. sit beside me for an entire flight)
  2. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Oct 5 2011, 09:47 AM) I haven't watched it yet, I have the episodes on DVR. Based on what I'm reading I'm not sure I want to waste my time. Don't listen to all the naysayers. I really enjoyed the pilot and will continue watching. I don't know what the other people on this board think is good TV - maybe our tastes are a lot different. At least we all love the same band!
  3. QUOTE (presto123 @ Oct 2 2011, 10:47 PM) Wow. Guess I picked some good ones as almost every song has at least one vote. But nobody for Territories? Really? Such a great tune. Territories would have been my second choice, but I voted for The Enemy Within, because it's the song that really made me fall in love with Rush. It's one of the first Rush songs I ever heard, but I've never heard it played live.
  4. Circumstances - the French part: Plus ca change, Plus c'est la meme chose, The more that things change, The more they stay the same.
  5. As you can see from my profile, I love the Power Windows Album!
  6. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Sep 29 2011, 06:06 PM) Does Rush have a say in what goes on the covers? Who designs them? Hugh Syme and Neil Peart design the covers, so yes, Rush has a say.
  7. QUOTE (HowItIs @ Sep 28 2011, 11:24 PM) QUOTE (Atomic @ Sep 28 2011, 09:51 AM) One thing I remember from years ago was that Alex was taking flying lessons and I assume, got his licence. He made reference to a couple of crashes in his rants on stage (search youtube). But in BTLS there is not mention of his flying - all about golf. Did he stop flying? If so, anyone know why? Gawd, I hope so. As if I don't have enough to worry about.... I believe he's still flying. At least in this clip of the Rick Mercer show, he says he's a licensed pilot, and doesn't say anything about not flying anymore. If you're not familiar with Rick Mercer, he's a Canadian comedian. All 3 of the Rush guys have been on his show. Here's the link for Alex's clip from 2009. I think it's pretty funny.
  8. QUOTE (eshine @ Sep 29 2011, 09:20 AM) QUOTE (reani14 @ Sep 25 2011, 09:28 AM) his vocals will be bad no doubt. If they are anything like i heard on youtube. its gonna be painful.. I'm happy to report how wrong you are. This is a classic case of Geddy at 58 being compared to Geddy at 28. He doesn't sing in the crisp, high pitched nasal sqeak of his younger years - and I'm perfectly fine with that. He sings from his stomach now - and his pitch and tone are far better for it (he used to go out of tune on an almost regualr basis when he was just singing through his nose) I've read complaints about his vocal performance on the S&A DVD and just can't wrap my head around it - that was one of his best ever tours vocally. On the Time Machine tour, particxularly the first leg, there is no question that his voice was tired in spots and cracked here and there - but embarressingly so? No way - he's got the strongest voice of any of his contemporaries and this particular recording finds him on a very good night. If they cleaned it up a bit then more power to em. If I flubbed a note here or there I would want it smoothed out for a DVD... Poor Ged - his voice will forever be damned, no matter what he does I don't understand the complaints about Geddy's voice either. I think that his vocals are excellent on both R30 and S&A.
  9. Everything I know about Geddy and Alex, I've learned from Neil's books and from interviews on TV and Youtube. Most of those interviews are only about music. Any personal information they let drop in those interviews is all they will ever let us know about their private lives. They never talk about their families. That's the way they want it, which is perfectly alright with me.
  10. QUOTE (Brava Doh! @ Sep 28 2011, 02:39 PM) QUOTE (Strangiato @ Sep 28 2011, 04:22 PM) I'll upload it to youtube tonight when it's done if anyone wants. Yes Please. Canada is shut out of this one as far as I can see. As usual, we can't see this in Canada.
  11. Celebrate the moment as it turns into one more
  12. A Farewell to Kings Permanent Waves Grace under Pressure Signals Power Windows I can't get enough of these albums!
  13. QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Sep 20 2011, 06:25 AM) Isn't that one of the great things about Rush?? That different people can listen to the exact same song and come away with a completely different feeling about it? I happen to like Dog Years more the I Think I'm Going Bald (even though much of the lyrics are cringe-worthy). However, neither are their worst. That honor goes to the steaming pile of ---- called Rivendell. If that was the first Rush song I had ever heard, it would have also been the last. Disagree? That's fine...reread first two sentences. I agree that's one of the great things about Rush. Everyone has different reasons for liking or disliking certain songs. I happen to love Rivendell, but understand why some don't. I like "I Think I'm going Bald" because it's funny. I dislike "You Bet Your Life" because it's bland and unimaginative. There are so many songs in Rush's catalogue, there's something for all of their many varied fans. Go Rush! Keep writing!
  14. I absolutely love Geddy's voice in Red Barchetta where he over-enunicates: At the one lane bridge, I leave the giant STRANDED at the river SIDE, race back to the farm to dream with my uncle at the FIRE SIDE. I also love his speaking voice when he introduces the song on "Exit Stage Left" "This is a song about a car - the Red Barchetta."
  15. I have favourite Rush albums (most of them). Rush has such a wide range of styles, some albums have more appeal than others. They're all so good, that for most Rush fanatics like me, it's hard to choose my favourites. But there are definitely some albums and songs that don't appeal to me. Hate is a strong term, though, and I can't say I hate any of their music.
  16. I love Geddy's voice, and I think he still sounds amazing on the lower songs, and could probably keep singing in the lower ranges for many years to come. But when I saw them in Portland, Iwas disappointed with his voice in Freewill. I noticed a marked difference from the time I saw them last year in Seattle. I wish they would just cut out that song. It sounds like he's straining so badly.
