  1. i didnt know there were sooooo many versions! is the MFSL version still available?
  2. i was looking forward to this when i first heard it was coming out, because MP was THE album that got me into and bass playing (thank you, Ged!!!) so, out of pure nostalgia, i bought the bluray version from Best Buy. i don't consider myself an 'audiophile', per se, but i liked what i heard!! if you're a fan, and esp. of this album, buy it....end of story! i can't see myself playing the dvd version a lot, but it's nice to have and i will enjoy it from time to time. i could only imagine what a 5.1 version of 2112 would sound like! pardon my ignorance, but what is 'MFLS' ? onto to Clockwork Angels!!!!!
  3. just got back my F2K album cover from Houston!!! http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g155/venereal/0929001125.jpg I'm happy as hell that I now own the new tour book and this, autographed to me!! And if this all ends tomorrow (the autographing, i mean ), i'll die a happy man. I was able to connect in a small way to my favorite band of all time, and that's good enough for me! If I do this again during a future tour,I think I'll do it as a gift, because I want to share this awesome feeling the guys have provided me with!
  4. yes, please!!!! it'll prob just be compilation of older tracks (maybe a live one or two) along with a new one.....regardless....i'll own it!
  5. got my tourbook back from pittsburgh yesterday!!!! http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g155/venereal/0920000929.jpg i emailed the venue just asking if things sent to the band were forwarded and they replied that yes, everything sent was indeed handed over to the band! sent my Farewell to Kings album out yesterday to Texas!!
  6. QUOTE (PennSt8r @ Sep 18 2010, 06:36 PM) Got my MP tour book back today signed. Guess Consol in PGH DOES forward items to the artists. I am happier than a pig in s...!!!!! Not sure how to post the photo. THIS gives me hope! regardless, i just came across F2K on vinyl so i'm gonna send that out this week....what's the best that can happen? i'll own TWO things signed by
  7. QUOTE (2112freak @ Sep 17 2010, 10:38 PM) QUOTE (Digital Signals @ Sep 13 2010, 08:26 PM) I was going to send a CD insert to CONSOL Energy Center, but saw on their website that they "cannot accept autograph/photograph requests by mail". Sent to Boston instead, we'll see what happens. sent my Time Machine tour book there (Pittsburgh) last week to get signed...i know it was rec'd. i sure hope it's returned!!! i'm kinda bummed too y'know....after reading the site, i'm 'assuming' the autograph/photograph requests via mail is concerning the Pittsburgh Penquins who play there. i sent it "c/o RUSH tour manager". at least, that's what I'm considering at this moment, so i can sleep tonite!! after reading the previous posts about the Consol Energy Center, i felt ill about sending my tourbook there i just came across a copy of Exit Stage Left on vinyl at a local Goodwill store. i think i'm gonna pick it up and ROLL THE BONES and send it to another date next week!

  9. as of 9/2 (syracuse) they were still selling them 'coz i bought one!
  10. QUOTE (trenken @ Sep 6 2010, 01:43 PM) I think this is why Van Halen go so big in the 80s. They were one of the few bands left still playing hard rock. Rock fans were abandoned in the 80s with bands doing the same thing rush did, leaving the guitars and hard beats in the background or eliminated entirely. VH stayed edgy and it was a breath of fresh air. i HAVE to comment on this..... '1984' was the beginning of the end of VH. JUMP, with it's heavy synth, really alienated a lot of fans at that time. Eddie wanted to play more with keys than his guitar, and i think the music suffered. as far as this VH fan is concerned, they NEVER bounced back from that. Now, I'm a huge fan of 1984 and a band's right to experiment, but Rush constantly evolves, and where is VH now? Eddie hasn't done crap in over ten years, and when they do again in the next year or so, it'll just be a trip down memory lane with DLR back at the helm (ka-ching!!)and Wolfgang on bass. they were an awesome rock band..they should have remained that
  11. when it came out, i wasn't a big fan (except Distant..).... i was a teen when it came out, and i found it a bit depressing...very post-apocalyptic themed. it really was a lowpoint for me in my Rush collection. but years ago, I've gone back and given it several listens. it really does resonate with me more now, for some reason. and hearing these tracks live really grab you.....Between the Wheels and Red Sector A are just amazing in concert! can't say WHY i like it better now.....nostalgia is part of it, i'm sure. Rush can't make a bad album, really. sometimes, you just have to catch up to what they're saying, hence my massive respect for them
  12. QUOTE (Todem @ Sep 7 2010, 02:43 PM) To me getting a DVD/BD is a great thing the band can offer their fans. Why not have a keepsake like that for every tour! Could you imagine if they had done this for tours like Hemispheres Permanent Waves Signals We would have eaten that stuff up. I love the fact they have been giving us a DVD/CD of each tour since VT. Great stuff and now I actually expect it. yeah, i actually expect as well..... i'd be really disappointed if there wasn't one, with all the tunes they played that they haven't in ages.... speaking of which, they are 57 now......why not get out as much as possible before the ride ends and their legacy is cemented in Valhalla!! haha
  13. really great pics!!! you should be proud!!
  14. dare i say.....LTTA is a wee bit dated (ok, maybe the concert vid), and i was shocked to see it on the setlist, but since La Villa was played, it more than made up for it!! as for MalNar ,for the simple fact that Ged used a fretless Jaco bass to think outside the box, i'm forever a fan of it! and besides, there are NO bad Rush instrumentals!
  15. aside from the obvious choices, The Camera Eye and Witch Hunt just do it for me!!! funny side note......when i first got the album, my friends and i used to play dungeons and dragons with it playing in the background. i then carried that over to me and my brother playing Othello in our bedroom while listening to it and it's been our tradition for under 30 years now!
  16. QUOTE (Relaxed_Jack @ Aug 24 2004, 06:37 AM) ALL of them..... I chose Countdown. Kind of gives you chills now after the latest Shuttle (Columbia)disaster. THe boys were invited to the 'Countdown' and recorded some of the Mission Control sounds. ready to get my geek on? i used to listen to Countdown as i was reading the preflight checklist in my Space Shuttle manual, pretending i was about to lift-off, usng Ruch as my soundtrack!!!! the obvious faves on this album is Subdivisions and Analog Kid, but Countdown and Losing It still haunt me to this day!!!
  17. i know since what happened to Neil years ago, the band doesn't take anything for granted.....hence the influx of tours, live albums, and dvds. it would be a shame if this tour wasn't put to audio/video disc!!! i mean, just for Moving Pictures alone (yay, Camera Eye!!!!! a personal fave of he show!!! ) that's all i kept thinking while watching the 9/2 show in Syracuse....."man, this would look GREAT on dvd". anyone have the inside scoop, or is it too early to tell?
  18. great show the other night!!!! as a longtime fan, i was hesitant of the venue, since i usually see them at darien lake,ny (since rochester no longer does REAL concerts ) i was surprised for the upped tix price, we were halfway up the grandstand!!! but an awesome show, nonetheless!!! this was my son's first Rush show and he totally dug it! i hope this tour is made into a dvd as well!!!
