GhostGirl
From Brain Damage This looks pretty cool: TRIBUTE TO THE WALL COMING SOON Tribute to Pink Floyd's The Wall A lot of interest is growing over a forthcoming album playing tribute to Pink Floyd's The Wall. As the creation of the album is still in its early stages, we don't have all of the detail, but we have another update for you following on from our last one on 28th April. Billy Sherwood [occasional member of Yes - added by GG] is producing the tribute to Roger Waters' 1979 masterpiece, for Cleopatra Records, and he recently contacted us with an update to let us know the mammoth list of musicians involved in the project. After seeing some of the great musicians involved, it is clear that this is shaping up to be a very interesting project indeed! Billy told us: "It is coming along quite nicely and I should be mixing it very soon. I'm a long-time huge fan of Pink Floyd and especially The Wall. I have been working very hard to keep the over all integrity extremely high, as did everyone who played on it. I hope you like it!" Here's the list of performers on the project: Alan White {Yes} Adrian Belew {King Crimson/Lori Anderson} Gary Green {Gentle Giant} John Gibblin {Kate Bush/Brand X} Ian Anderson {Jethro Tull} Tony Levin {Peter Gabriel/John Lennon} Tony Kaye {Yes} Vinnie Colaiuta {Sting/Frank Zappa} Fee Waybill {The Tubes} David Glenn Iesly {House of Lords} Ronnie Montrose {Montrose} Alex Ligertwood {Santana} Mike Porcaro {Toto} Greg Bissonette {David Lee Roth/Ringo Starr} John Wetton {UK/King Crimson/Asia} Robby Krieger {The Doors} Glenn Hughes {Deep Purple} Elliot Easton {The Cars} Ainsley Dunbar {Elton John/Journey} Tony Franklin {The Firm} Tommy Shaw {Styx} Geoff Downes {Asia} Rick Wakeman {Yes} Steve Howe {Yes} Chris Squire {Yes} Jason Scheff {Chicago} Dweezil Zappa {Lisa Loeb} Larry Fast {Peter Gabriel/Synergy} Jay Schellen {Conspiracy/Hurricane/World Trade} Billy Sherwood {Yes/Conspiracy/World Trade} Michael Sherwood {Billy's brother; Conspiracy/Lisa Loeb} Steve Lukather {Toto} Steve Porcaro {Toto} Malcolm McDowell {A Clockwork Orange} Steve Morse {Dixie Dregs/Deep Purple} Keith Emerson {ELP}
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
Lots of prog rock heavyweights there. Very impressive. The presence of actor Malcolm McDowell is interesting. Perhaps his contribution will be, "If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding!" I'll predict that either Steve Lukather or Steve Morse will do the "Comfortably Numb" solo. PuppetKing2112
Tribute albums usually suck, but there are some good names in here. I have a file of a live performance at some British awards show where Kate Bush comes out and sings Comfortably Numb with Dave Gilmour. Maybe they could get kate involved on this. That's the only way I would even consider buying it...because tribute albums are always pointless.
rushgoober
I usually avoid tribute albums like the plague, but I must say that the list of musicians on this one is very impressive indeed. Does that mean I'll go out and buy it? Well, at the end of the day it's still a tribute album, so, no f*cking way!
