Oh, just call it one of the coolest endings in the entire catalogue! There is nothing I dislike about VS, absolutely nothing...except perhaps the fact that I can't make out most of the lyrics properly. Fortunately the music itself more than compensates for that! I know i hear ya....and it's not Jennifer Rush...she's the singer with that godawful "Power of Love" song from the 80's... The problem with Rush is the name is so vague.... For some reason, I wasn't big on it until the Rio live set...I think while MP is a great album, I just think the sound of it is too "closed in" and Vital Signs seems to have that feel that it wants to "break out" and give room to breathe with some echo going on, which Rio supplies in heavy servings. It sounds sort of Police-ish...well, not "sort of"...more like DOES sound like The Police, but of course it has that unmatched Peart subject matter to it that makes it firmly a Rush track. This time I will keep it on, I feel asleep last time and my computer rebooted for some reason, it has a mind of it's own sometimes, I built it so that might explain that. During the first week of every month, we "close" the books of the previous month and report financial position and profitability. The reporting deadline creates tension among us with interruptions, crashing computers and out of balance reconciliations. Don't get me wrong, after about day 3 it all comes together and feels f*cking fantastic. But on the way home from day 1 or 2, I will crank the car stereo up to 11 and play Vital Signs over and over on the ride home. It's therapy.
