Sweetmiracle
In honor of Alex's birthday, I've finally learned to say his last name (no, not THAT one, silly! Even I can pronounce the 7 letter version) Zivojinovich is pronounced almost like the name of a former Ohio governor.... Zh voy' ne vich , kind of like ole' Gov. Voinovich with a Zh first... I got a copy of the Baktobak interview with Alex. After explaining how he didn't speak much English 'til he went to school at age 5, he pronounces his surname... Old hat to some of you, I'm sure, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted to know!! (Sorry to link Alex with Cleveland politics!)
The Notorious B.S.G.
Thanks, Sweetmiracle! All this time I've been saying "Zee-voh-zhin-o-vitch". Ah, shucks! "Lifeson" is so much easier! BTW, rather than start a new topic, Neil's surname should be pronounced as if it rhymes with "beer't", as in "gimme a beer't, you jerk't", not like the name of the shampoo "Pert Plus". (Also mentioned this in nickname thread.)

When they were on the Colbert Report, they referred to Neil as "Pert" rather than the correct Peert. Neil was on the show and they still couldn't get it right!! Janie
QUOTE (Sweetmiracle @ Aug 26 2004, 04:45 PM) In honor of Alex's birthday, I've finally learned to say his last name Zh voy' ne vich Old hat to some of you, I'm sure, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted to know!! AHA! I had no idea but was curious, I'll admit. Zh voy' ne vich Much simpler than how I was thinking it was pronounced. I like the way it sounds. Thanks for that Sweetmiracle!
