  1. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Apr 14 2009, 05:44 PM)Porcupine Tree many possibilities here but I'll go with Fear of A Blank Planet. Oh yeah. "Space Transmission" is possibly the scariest thing I've ever heard.
  2. Led Zeppelin - Ten Years Gone Then as it was, then again it will be An' though the course may change sometimes Rivers always reach the sea Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good 'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would Through the eyes an' I sparkle, Senses growing keen Taste your love along the way, See your feathers preen Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes, Didn't have to grow We are eagles of one nest, The nest is in our soul Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me Never thought I'd see your face the way it used to be Oh darlin', oh darlin' I'm never gonna leave you. I never gonna leave Holdin' on, ten years gone Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone
  3. I'll forgo the Rush songs since everyone here knows them. Neil is probably my favorite lyricist, with Limelight and Time Stand Still being my two favorites lyrically at the moment. Roger Waters is also a genius: Pink Floyd - Time Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way. Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain. You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time. Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, Thought I'd something more to say.
  4. "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" by Pink Floyd used to freak me out when I was younger. Roger's scream on that song is inhuman. Also, "Several Species of Small Fury Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" is disturbing in a "what the f**k was he smoking?" kinda way.
  5. Frank Zappa wrote some pretty f***ed-up stuff.

All alone now Except for the memories Of what we had and what we knew Everytime I try to leave it behind me I see something that reminds me of you Every night the dreams return to haunt me Your rosary wrapped around your throat I lie awake and sweat, afraid to fall asleep I see your face looking back at me And I raise my head and stare Into the eyes of a stranger I've always known that the mirror never lies People always turn away From the eyes of a stranger Afraid to know what Lies behind the stare Just can't get it out of my head

  17. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Jan 2 2009, 03:47 PM)I'm going to find it tough to enjoy a WWII movie where the Germans are the good guys. No thanks. Yep, they sacrificed their lives and the lives of their families to kill Hitler, take control of Germany, and make peace with the allies. But because they're German, I guess that makes them enemies regardless.
  18. I have a question about this new 1970-1975 box set....I'm still fairly new to Genesis, so at the moment I don't actually have a physical copy of any of the PG era albums, but I do have Selling England and Foxtrot off iTunes and love both of them, so the box set seems like an ideal thing for me to get. I was just over at Amazon thinking about ordering some of the Gabriel albums, but I noticed none of them are in stock (so I'd have to buy from other sellers ) and the box set really caught my eye. My mouth is already watering at the thought of all of those tasty extras, but I'm worried about the price and if the new mixes are faithful enough to the albums I haven't heard....I know that sounds stupid but I worry about that kinda stuff. And I can order all of the 1994 remasters for less than $50. So I dont' know whether to save up and get the box set or go for the non-remixed albums first.
