cygnify
Trying to chill after seeing Dweezil Zappa in concert earlier tonight. WOW. Super musicianship all the way around - great band. Amazing setlist. I know FZ is not everybody's cup of tea, but if you like excellent musicianship on display, don't miss this tour. I was blown away by Ryan Brown's talents on the drum kit; Dweezil shredded, his band is super tight and vocally excellent. The show really captured the magic that his father created. 2 1/2 hours of intense deep cuts (with a fair dose of humor sprinkled in!) (for any hardcore musios out there, yes, they did play the 19/16 and 21/16 sections in Greasy....) Oct. 24, 2018 Ft. Lauderdale, FL Culture RoomOct. 25, 2018 Melbourne, FL Maxwell C. stoopid
I saw Zappa Plays Zappa about a decade ago (progressive nation tour), opening for Dream Theater. My friend was there to see DT, but said after the show he thought the Zappa stuff was more enjoyable live. Being a long time Zappa fan I was simply blown away, I had tears in my eyes a few times as I couldn't believe how accurately they recreated the stage show and music. It was like Frank was there with us through his music (and spirit). That said, I'm not eager to see them again. Other priorities, but certainly agree Dweezil is a must see if you've never seen Zappa performed live before.
