The grass so far is giving me a bit of trouble. I am working as hard as I can on it when I am able. Had alot of weeds again this spring but have "weed and feeded" twice already and it seems to be filling in and the weeds are disappearing. The freak'in Centipede is a constant battle. Thanks for the kind words. I haven't much better to do. I cut and took care of my Niece's lawn last year too and I am doing it again this year. I actually had a chance to weed and feed hers this spring and I am seeing results already. She was paying a company 150.00 a month to care for it before (up to late last spring) and I am free so a good deal for her and gives me more sense of purpose in life. Makes me feel good... :)

I have tried a few in the past (yellow ones) and failed. They are a perennial as are 95% of my plants. I tried these red ones a couple springs ago and they have taken off like wildfire. It seems that these and all plants in general are all about location. I found the right spot with plenty of sun and they are killer. I have owned this house since new (15 years) and have enjoyed the challenge of making beds all around the house perimeter and planting stuff and moving it around etc. Experimentation and what does well here and there is the challenge. I have learned alot over the years and its a whole bunch of fun for sure. The beauty is inspiring and makes me feel good and have a sense of purpose beyond just family stuff... :)

I love the scotch broom, that might be an idea for one bed at the back of our house. It has a southern exposure and my girls always used to put in some kind of annual flowers but it has been ignored the past year. I have been looking for some kind of perennial and this might be good!

They come in yellow and red which of course is what I now have. They can get really big as you can see. Get some, put them in the ground and see what happens. No care needed with the exception of mulch and weeding around them. Best of luck...
