RUSHHEAD666
This Forum has been overrun by questions!! So hey why not join the party? This might have been done before but screw it!! Neil has a million kick ass fills!!Which is the best one?? You can list many if you like! No rules here!! For me it's always been the third long fill during YYZ right after Geddy rips it for a bit. But lately I've been obsessing over the opening fill on "Digital Man." It's just a monster fuckking opening fill. I also love how Neil opens up "Chain Lightning." The opening of "Face Up" is amazing too!! There are a ton folks. I have a ton in my Rushhead but I will pass the torch!! NEIL RULES!!!!! Oh I guess there is one rule. Neil's drum solos DON'T COUNT! Geddy's Soul Patch
I love the fill he does during some live versions of Xanadu. He does it on Exit Stage Left, during the second chorus right after "decreed by Kubla Khan" Beast of a fiil. Natural Science has some amazing fills as well.

Isn't that the same thing that he does on Red Barchetta after Geddy sings "adrenelin surge"? Love watching Alex playing Xanadu in Exit...Stage Left. At the end of the song, it looks like he is playing that guitar with every ounce of energy he has.
upstateNYfan
One of the reasons Neil is one of the best of all time is his versatility. He's always mixing things up and tries to never do the same fill twice. It's a mind boggling thing to actually do.
Lorraine
Yes, it's mind boggling for sure. I honestly have no idea how he does it. But then, I don't have the talent to do it. He does.
upstateNYfan
Another thing that is quite impressive is his ability to play complex stuff so hard and so long. Honestly I'm not sure anyone else gives the audience more for their money.
