My favorite version of Rivendell is this acoustic cover:

Wow now that's an awesome cover. :)

This makes the song so much better.

WHo is this person?

I think she is from South America- there is a link to her YouTUbe page.

almost afraid to admit it but.. he cover is actually.... dare I say it... BETTER than the album version.....

It works...interesting how an old song like that can get new life breathed into it within a differnt genre!

I think it would be cool to see this get some buzz, then have people freak when they find out it's an obscure Rush tune!

Maybe if Taylor Swift covers it?

I don't have a problem with that...

It may be a slow-moving song, but that doesn't make it a "bad" one.

I like the melody, gentle singing and all that. But I really have to be in the mood for it- hubby's the same. thought he might be offended but he was like "Oh, Rivendell? Yeah, no I understand." hahaha.

Definitely NOT one of their best songs, but I think it's underrated - it's a decent song.

I agree. Not their best, but neither is it their worst. I certainly don't think it deserves all the HATE it gets.

It captures the peace and tranquility and Haven-from-evil feelings you might feel when visiting the city.

You like Rivendell, but hate everything off of Vapor Trails?

I'd love to hear an explanation for Tai Shan. :LMAO:

Geddy HAS talked about this recently. Basically they put Neil's poem about traveling to China to music for the HYF album and in hindsight, it didn't age well. Personally, I think it's a nice sounding song but way too soft and wussy for what Rush can and should do. HYF is in a couple different ways a very good album....lyrics, melody, lush production, big soundstage and competent song composition. It's, for better or worse, very '80s sounding and a product of its time
