RUSHHEAD666
I just listened to Garden Road on YouBOOB and someone posted on there that the guitar riff sounded like the one on "Carnies" so I had to cheat and give the first 60 seconds a listen. I thought to myself that "no way would Rush dig deep into their vault like Van Halen and redo an old riff on a new tune. Well shit man, I must say that it is similar. rushgoober
It's far from exactly the same, but the similarities are hard to deny...
Shreddy Lee
I think that's a bit of a stretch. I guess I kind of hear what you might be talking about, but they really don't sound similar, certainly not to the extent that they reworked that riff for Carnies. No way. Also, comparing them to Van Halen in any way is sickening. Edited June 10, 2012 by Shreddy Lee

losingit2k
Yeah its a bit slowed down on Carnies and the beginning is missing one repeated not but it is basically the same. Anyway I can hear the similarity! Same as the main Riff in Seven cities of Gold is the variation at the end of the main riff off OLV. There are many hints towards the past on this Album!
