Seems like Staub sneaks into a lot of trivia questions...

Okay, who are the four hitters who cleared the center field fence at the Polo Grounds?

One Negro League player, three Major League players...

I will be away this weekend, so I won't be able to reply to answers from Friday night until Sunday night, if the answer is not gotten today before I leave. Two of four answered correctly will be enough to start a new question.

Some hints:

The Negro League player did it in 1948, and did play in the majors briefly afterwards.

One ML player did it in the 50s, and two did it in the 60s.

Boy, that's a tough one. I do think one was "Joe Adcock" when he played for the Milwaukee Braves but not sure. Seems to me I read something on him yrs. ago and this might have been mentioned.

Adcock is correct!! applaudit.gif That's my mom's Milwaukee Braves that she grew up following. True story is that she baby sat for Del Crandall's (he was the catcher on those teams) kids.

Hank Aaron is correct. You got two, so you get to ask the next question. Well done.

Luke Easter was the Negro League player, and he was the first player to do it, period. I noticed that they moved the fence back about 10-12 feet after he did it, also. They did move it back in after a year, though.

Lou Brock is the other major leaguer, believe it or not.

Okay, troutman, ask away, but I'm out until Sunday night.

LOU BROCK new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif That is unbelievable confused13.gif I never would have guessed that in a million yrs. That is very cool. Ok, lets see... What was the longest home run that "Mickey Mantle" ever hit? and off of what pitcher did he hit it?

I forget how long it was, and I forget who he hit it off of. I know it was the moonshot to end all moonshots, though. Let me try to remember who the pitcher was. (I hate it when that happens. laugh.gif )

I couldn't believe it when I first heard about it. Eyewitnesses say it would have gone farther than what it was measured at. That is just there opinion after it was calculated, with them seeing the ball still climbing before hitting the obsticle. Boy, what I would have gave to see that "shot" in person 653.gif
