Brooks
Just got home from the 1st gig for our RUSH tribute; a couple of minor trainwrecks, but big fun! http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t324/brookskaplan/notrush9-4-10a.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t324/brookskaplan/notrush9-4-10b.jpg http://i512.photobucket.com/albums/t324/brookskaplan/notrush9-4-10c.jpg
Rushchick10
You play a Hamer...nice! I have a '98 sunburst archtop that I just love... I replaced the Seymour Duncan pickups with some Dimarzio Eric Johnson signatures. Sounds brilliant.

Brooks
thanx guys. guitarwise, i'm 100% hamers right now. rushchick, you should pop by hamerfanclub.com and say hello, great group of folks over there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/brooks/gear/hamers8-10.jpg setlist was radio rush, nothing obscure (yet); 2112 OVERTURE / SPIRIT OF RADIO WHAT YOU'RE DOING YYZ THE TREES / RED BARCHETTA FREEWILL NEW WORLD MAN LIMELIGHT TOM SAWYER / 2112 FINALE WORKING MAN we are also working on LA VILLA STRANGIATO in rehearsals, it's not quite ready yet. there was some video shot, i'll post some when i get it (if'n it's decent ). there's several kickass tribute bands here on TRF, we are not quite worthy. but, this is truly a labor of love, esp for our bassist grant (who lost his sight from diabetes). RSRD
Why aren't you wearing a komono with silk pants that split your balls? Grats on the first gig. Curious as to what parts you all had the 'trainwreckw'
Brooks
QUOTE Grats on the first gig. Curious as to what parts you all had the 'trainwreck' thanx. we rehearsed forever, but recently added 2112's overture and grand finale (like bookends to the set), and both those were "several-seconds-of-chaos" moments onstage. we also had the typical loose tempo and flubbed notes, ya know... most of it was respectable, and we had a friendly crowd who responded great. good times. Ghostnotes
I envy you, I have been trying to get a tribute band together here since i moved down here 5 years ago....but no takers. Every time i think i find someone it ends up that they kinda know the music but only bits and pieces, frustrating....
Jomboni
man, a blind bass (and keyboard?) player playing Rush!!! That's amazing! Please post some videos if only for that. Also has anybody told him the top of his bass is missing?
Brooks
QUOTE (Jomboni @ Sep 7 2010, 07:29 AM) man, a blind bass (and keyboard?) player playing Rush!!! That's amazing! Also has anybody told him the top of his bass is missing? yeah, he has a fender geddy jazz bass, but he uses 2 headless cort models because he kept smacking the headstock into walls (much like the headset mic so he won't smack his teeth on the mic). QUOTE I have been trying to get a tribute band together here since i moved down here 5 years ago....but no takers. Every time i think i find someone it ends up that they kinda know the music but only bits and pieces, frustrating.... yes, we had the same problem auditioning drummers. finally i asked brett from my original jazz/funk band to try (myspace.com/generichustle), he's been here ever since.
