Guest Quigley_Moog
Having a hard time figuring out the meter to this tune. I'm thinking some of it is in 5/4, but I need some help.
rickyrob
I wouldn't know as I am musically incompetent 5/4 is just two numbers separated by a slash http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_4_4v.gif to me!
Guest Quigley_Moog
QUOTE (rickyrob @ Apr 4 2005, 11:54 AM) I wouldn't know as I am musically incompetent 5/4 is just two numbers separated by a slash http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_4_4v.gif to me! 5/4 is like five quarter notes per measure. A measure is kind of like a musical sentence. Count it like this: 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and There you go Ricky Rob...your first music lesson! My_Shrimp_Cot
I thinks you can count (1-2-3)(1-2-3)(1-2) through most (if not all) of the song, which is really 8. (Two gruops of four) So you might be grouping A three with the two and getting a five, which is confusing you.

My_Shrimp_Cot
QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Apr 4 2005, 05:28 PM) BB&B is in 6/4. Hey Cyg, I am counting 1-2-3-4, through this song, am I crazy? I have never seen the music, unless they wrote it as triplets or something? Beneath the noble bird - 4 beats Between the proudest words - 4 beats Behind the beauty, cracks appear - 8 beats etc.
CygnusX-1Bk2
Oops. I am counting the wrong bit! Yeah it is in 4/4, or 8/8.
