The one time I had a chance to see a shuttle launch. . .it was scrubbed and we had to go home before they got it launched successfully. sad.gif

Not today - weather delay.

 

I really need to do a bit of advance planning and try to catch one of the last two shuttle launches . . . I'll be sad to see this era end.

Why is this era ending?

The shuttle fleet retires this year. American astronauts will be hitching rides with the cosmonauts until the next phase of American manned spaceflight gets off the ground. No idea when that will be.

 

The shuttles are up for grabs (without engines, of course), should you have a few spare million you're not sure what to do with.
