lerxt1990
Well, they were in the AFC west.. right? http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif So not inly did they play bad teams in their own division, they played the NFC East this year, which was full of mediocre teams, save the Cowboys who were decent. Tick
Ok, so obviously the kicker blew the game, but besides that I think their loser coach has to take the most heat. The Chargers went from one coach in Marty who couldn't win big games to Norv, who can't either. I think Norv should have kicked the ball deep with 2:10 on the clock. He had a timeout left plus the two minute warning. You know the Jets are going to run three times so if you three and out them you get the ball back with decent field position and about a minute and a half on the clock. Then one long Rivers pass gets them in field goal range. Whether their kicker would have made it is another story ? If they had kicked the ball deep, the Jets would have had to punt on 4th down instead of going for it because they would have been deep in their own end. I couldn't figure out wtf Turner was doing when he had that timeout with 2:10 to go. They definitely had a shot at tying the score Even though Kaeding missed 3 FGs already they still should at least give it a shot considering he was one of the best kickers during the season. -D-RocK-
Gotta feel for SD and their fans, what a shitty way to end an otherwise stellar season, losing to a mediocre 9-7 football team like the Jets.......Geezuz!
Tick
QUOTE (-D-RocK- @ Jan 18 2010, 10:43 AM) Gotta feel for SD and their fans, what a shitty way to end an otherwise stellar season, losing to a mediocre 9-7 football team like the Jets.......Geezuz! The Jets were 10 and 7 going into the game. They have a solid defense and that always gives a team a fighting chance. If your the Chargers, you have to win the game. This team needs a coaching change more then anything else. As far as the kicker goes, any kicker can go belly up, because lets face it, their kickers. ReflectedLight
i thought the game was fixed. 3 missed chip shots and the last one they told him, listen gently push it to the right.
Rendclaw
It was a combination of things, but the biggest problem was the lack of discipline which resulted in penalties. You can put that on the coaching staff, but at some point you have to also put it on the players. They all knew what was on the line, and I also think that the Chargers thought they were going to roll over the Jets with their scary offense, so when the Jets walked right up to them and collectively punched the Chargers in the mouth, the Chargers crumbled. I only wish I had had some money to place on the Jets. The game was fixed, RL? Really? You must be a Giants fan. http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

If your playing the Colts you try the onsides kick knowing Manning will probably get a first down. If your playing the Jets who are going to play it ultra conservative you kick it deep recognizing the odds are great you will get the ball back with time to spare. Norv and Wade Phillips should get a room. They are both awful !

RUSHHEAD666
HAHAHAHAHA!! I loved being down in San Diego during that playoff game. I should have worn one of my Raider jerseys. It was so much fun sitting in the Hotel Del Coronado bar when the Chargers lost to the JETS JETS JETS!! Payback is a fukking bitch. The Bolts always sizzle out when it counts. LOL! Remember, to me this is sweet revenge. My dad and I went down to San Diego in 2002 to the Superbowl and the Raider fans took over their precious city. It was like a home game. It was fun until the Raiders got their ass kicked. I was so depressed and of course the locals were so pumped and picking on us all night long. Is the Charger Pro Bowl kicker still alive? I'm surprised that Jinx didn't get killing in the parking lot on the way to his car. News at 11. "Stay classy San Diego!" NOT! http://www.therushforum.com/html/emoticons/laugh.gif  Love, Ron Burgundy

alphseeker
I vowed at the beginning of the year if Norv doesn't take them deep into the playoffs and they don't fire him i will have to find a team that is serious about winning championships - Don't get me wrong i'll always be a charger fan but i am tired of living and dying with them every weekend - I'm a fairly mild mannered person but when the Charger play they turn me into Mr. Hyde -
