PriestOfSyrinx
The video gives no clue as to the location but perhaps someone may know. Which TTC station is shown in the music video? You see people walking down the stairs for several seconds and thats it. I am curious to know the location. Seeing as the video was shot mainly in the Scarborough area, my initial guess was a station on the Scarborough RT line but I don't think it opened until a few years after the video was released. Anyone have any leads?

I think you might mean Osgoode station... it's ok, you'll learn. The aerial shots of the houses looks a lot like Newmarket used to look, or some of the overdeveloped areas in scarborough like Rouge Hill but it's more than likely a shot of Willowdale. http://www.rscdstoronto.org/images/Edwards-Gardens-aerial-vu.jpg Edward Gardens which is is Willowdale... you can see how the houses are closesly knit together. Actually I'm certain it's Runnymede.....ya it's definitely Runnymede. And the aerial shots I'm pretty sure are Regent Park.
circumstantial tree
Since I really didn't know that Rush were Canadian when I got into them in 1982, I used to think the video was shot in a Los Angeles suburb similar to the one in Poltergeist. Im fairly certain it's Osgoode or Queen because that is definitely the entrance walkway to The Eaton Centre and it's the wrong colour to be Dundas. There are a lot of shots of Younge Street and Queen West in that video as well.
PriestOfSyrinx
The setting for the "subdivision" part of the video is the Warden/Finch area of Scarborough (which is actually the Markham/Scarborough border). Definitely not "regent park" or any other "ghetto" neighborhood. The night scenes are Yonge Street (probably yonge + bloor/eglinton). I always blast the song when I am driving there at night. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subdivisions_(song)
