Now here's a familiar '70s flashback .... Ah, the memories of thinking about my sister's best friends with their long wavy hair, halter tops and very short shorts at the skating rink. drool1.gif

"Thanks for being so understanding, Mom... but no, I don't want to discuss these feelings with you later!"

let's keep the party goin...

After Jeff Beck, there was really no way for Rod to go but down...

rofl3.gif

I have seen him 9 or 10 times. yes.gif

And that song has been played at least 5 of those times. rofl3.gif

he's got a great voice, I just think he never sounded better than his debut with Beck, with the exception of his guest spot on "People Get Ready" (also Beck). Young turks is a great tune though...

He is one of the greatest performers.

He will go from the beginning of his career straight through

to the present. Doesn't have alot of intermission. And you get

a great show from him. yes.gif

I had those same feelings for the likes of Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, Lynda Carter, Lindsey Wagner and one of my favorite young actress back in the day, Kristy McNichol. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Gotta add Olivia Newton-John to the list.

the Doobie Brothers (esp. with Michael McDonald singing) are at least peripherally enough like Steely Dan for me that I like some of their stuff. You seem to have a talent for finding semi-discoish stuff that I still like to some degree.

stop, please. doh.gif

LOL...

It was funny watching those old videos.

Sometimes I ask myself what next generations will post about mine generation as old videos too tongue.gif

Rhyvenne, since your teen years were spent in the early-mid '90s, I think the future generations will post clips of grunge bands from that era and say how angry and grungy they sounded and looked. biggrin.gif

I'm not proud to admit that I ran home from school the day that movie (Kiss meets the phantom of the park) premiered on TV and sat in front of the television until it came on (I was about 11)...

Lots of stuff in the 70's.

we're way beyond disco now...

Heart was great, especially since Nancy was so influenced by Jimmy Page (who wasn't back then?)

I was a little younger and I remember seeing that

but just in bits and pieces. My cousins were all pumped

up and they got me into KISS. 1022.gif

Yeah, I definitely had a Kristy McNichol crush back then. Let's see, was she on a show called "Family"?

KISS was the first band that I got totally wrapped up in. My first album that I bought with my own money was "Dressed to Kill". I think it cost about $5 at JC Penney or Musicland, can't remember where I got it.

I tired of KISS after a few years, but I still remember how exciting it was just to see them on television. Unfortunately my parents were nowhere cool enough to even consider taking me to one of their shows. That would have been the highlight of my life.

Who's the cat that won't cop out

When there's danger all about?

CHEF!

Can you dig it?

My son, who was like 12 or 13 at the time, and I went to an NBA game between the Grizzlies and the Wizards. Isaac Hayes, decked out in a red, white and blue American flag warm-up suit, delivered a fantastic a cappella rendition of the national anthem. After the song ended, my son said, 'Dad, he sounds like Chef on South Park.' I informed him that was the guy who did the voice of Chef. I think my son enjoyed that more than seeing Jordan play. It was also a treat for me, since one of the first 45 singles I ever bought - at age 8 - was the Theme From Shaft.
