According to what I've heard, it's going to be a movie based on H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulu stories.

I just saw Transformers (and this mystery preview) tonight, and I'm interested... not so much in the movie, but moreso just because it's fun to research and theorize about it.

Anyways, here's some stuff that hasn't already been mentioned in this thread:

DISCLAIMER: Most of this information is based off things I've read online and my own personal opinions. But, seeing as how hardly anything official is being said about the film, that's really all I have to go on. If you can prove anything I'm about to type wrong, please do so, but have sources.

-This movie has been nicknamed/codenamed "Cloverfield", so if you're using search engines, that word will probably help bring up more info.

-As far as I know, it's being shot in the style of a home movie. The filmmakers are most likely just going to use a filter, or add in the grainy digital camera effects... seeing as how there are special effects in this movie, and it'd probably be a bitch to add those when you're working with footage from a cheap digital camera.

-Also as far as I know, "1.18.08" isn't officially the movie release date. Perhaps it's just the day when something further will be revealed? I think this could be likely, seeing as how this movie is being made to look like quite the blockbuster... but then, why would they release a movie like that in January?

Current rumors about what this movie might be:

-A new Godzilla film... however, this is unlikely because there's already a "Godzilla in 3-D" project slated to come out in 08.

-A "Voltron" film... there's one part of the preview where a man supposedly yells "It's a lion!" while running away. However, most people disagree with that, saying the man yells "It's alive!". Also, there is supposedly a Voltron movie project already announced for 08, just like Godzilla.

-A Transformers sequel... This is actually a fairly valid theory, although not really likely. First off, it's still in New York, and a sequel for Transformers has already been green-lighted. Then again, different writer/director/producer, a different shooting style, and a much-to-early-for-a-sequel release date seem to prove this wrong.

So there you go... anybody care to discuss?

Olivia from Attack of the Show said her friend has a small part in the movie and she thinks it might be Voltron, which kinda makes sense why they showed that trailer with Transformers.

Yeah, although a lot of people are doubting it's Voltron, if I had to agree with one of the non-"new monster" theories, I'd root for Voltron.

Also, the Ethan Haas sites have been discovered as promotion sites for a video game called "Alpha Omega", and have nothing to do with "Cloverfield".

However, the Slusho site has been confirmed as a viral marketing site for "Cloverfield". If you look closely in the trailer, there's a guy at about the 50 second mark wearing a "Slusho" T-shirt.

I saw this trailer when I was at Transformers last week. Looks cool. A rumour is that it has a limited budget and is about an "alien" attacking new york city. Apparently, everyone involved in the movie has signed a gag agreement, but someone who owns some property where part of the movie was filmed recently spilled the beans.
