Groovybass77
I would check out rotosounds, they are my favorite and are used by quite a few of the most popular bassists today (including Geddy, who uses their swing bass strings if I recall correctly). lowfreqguy
The Ken Smith Burners are pretty good, especially for the price. I can usually find the 5 string sets around $20/pack. Last a long time and pretty bright. Of course, nothing's as bright as the Rotos.

Gompers
QUOTE (Larks @ Jun 14 2007, 01:51 PM) who use Ken smith bass strings? it's been 3 years now.. my strings are in bad condition and i think its a good time to buy a new set of strings.. now i got Ernie ball madium strings.. my local shop only got Ken smith strings right now.. should i buy them? 3 YEARS!!!!! OMG, you need new strings badly. I would search a bass player website and check out the forum. Order your strings online from Musiciansfriend.com. I get all my drum equipment, including sticks and heads, there. www.bassplayer.com www.uglybassplayer.com www.activebass.com Cheers!
rushbass
I use GHS Super Steels... L5000 set on the 4-strings, and 6L-STB on the 6-string... both are the light gauge sets. They last forever! And I've never broken a string after switching to these... been using them for 15 years.
lowfreqguy
There are a few bass forums I check out. Here's a quick summary: www.talkbass.com Huge user base, little younger crowd, more flaming, stupid questions www.fenderforum.com More mature crowd, discusses much more than Fender products, generally likes vintage gear www.badassbassplayers.com Kind of a cross section of the two above, good guys, buncha smartasses, fun. New forum, so user base is still growing.
Mindcore
I use RotoSound Superwound standard guage on all my basses. Use to use the light guage but they broke too much.
