The region under the advisory includes most of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska and Mississippi along with northeast Texas and portions of southwestern Iowa, west and south Tennessee and north Alabama. Coastal South Carolina - and a few locations in southern North Carolina and eastern Georgia - are under a similar advisory. Here in east central Mississippi, we have a predicted high of 100F/38C with an expected heat index of 107F/42C. I've already cut the grass this morning and don't plan to do much else outside today.
