It'll be tough to get anything BUT a metal sound out of that amp. The 8-inch speaker doesn't help, and I'm pretty sure it uses solid-state circuitry to get its distortion from. The only thing you can do is try lowering the gain to lessen the amount of raspy distortion.

8" speaker....the sounds are cheesy....two things I might do, buy a better amp or get a distortion pedal. You can't crank these babies as they can't push too much. The distortion is horrible. Turn it off & go with a pedal...

Best solution (if you have $$$), get a better amp.

Or you could just go out and buy this:

Hughes & Kettner Alex Lifeson Signature Edition TriAmp MKII Amp

and this:

Hughes & Kettner Alex Lifeson Signature Series 4x12 Inch Cabinet

LOL but you'd probably be bankrupt after that - I know I would!

Just do yourself a favor if you go the route of a new amp, stay away from the Behringers....they suck.

Agreed. The only thing Behringer makes that doesn't completely suck are small mixing boards, and those are only good for goof-off recording at home. Here's a small amp that DESTROYS that little Marshall:

It's a small Epiphone amp head, but it's a 5 watt class A tube head (one input tube and one output tube) with DC filaments for $100! And it's a loud 5 watts. It'll give you good tone at a real cheap price. All you'd need is a small speaker cabinet with one or two 12" speakers and you're set.

yes.gif Absolutely - they are cheap and efficient. In fact there's one sitting behind me next to Dave's Roland TD-10 kit wink.gif

Line 6 puts out a modeling amp as well....they have been known for many who want a variety....if you want clean, fender.....etc....

Buying a new amp is about the only way out of having a sucky amp sad.gif
