  1. QUOTE (GeddPratLerxst @ Jun 22 2011, 05:53 PM) That is the coolest thing I have ever heard. Gee, thanks I'm still over the moon about it, two weeks later!
  2. QUOTE (Code Red @ Jun 22 2011, 08:17 PM) anyone on this board going to the show in Van June 30th? I'm going with a solid crew of people
  3. QUOTE (RUSHian62 @ Jun 23 2011, 08:13 AM) That is so awesome!! Happy birthday!! Thank you so much!!!
  4. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jun 23 2011, 10:14 AM) Damn it. If only there had been a show in Florida on May 18th. It was my 21st that day. -_-. Congratulations! That is pretty freaking epic! Aww, thank you. I hope it was a good'un, though!
  5. QUOTE (Orbourus @ Jun 22 2011, 06:26 PM) Congrats , truly the best story I've heard and seen ( i was a video guy for 2 tours) ... btw: I think you just wrote I Love You Man part 2 ! What was hilarious about that was the end vid was pretty much the "male" version of me (except I'm not as dumb as those guys ). It was my birthday and the guys really went out of their way to make it special!!!
  6. QUOTE (MCM @ Jun 26 2011, 09:11 PM) Wow, you got better pics than me, I should have taken a real camera and not just my phone. Here's a link to the one's I did get, hope it works. It's the Vegas pics from my facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...18&l=fab4fa111a On to the details.. What a great weekend! Got to meet Unattractive Truth and his lovely wife, Rolinda Bonz, Pedro and many more (special mention to the RIAB'ers who's "handles" I can't remember and who hung with us on Sat), Kelly D, Weatherman, etc.. Could someone who took pics at dinner send me one of them?? Seems like I remember two people taking pics, but I can't remember who. Rushcon was great fun and entertainment. What good people Rush fans are! Big thanks to those I spent time with on Saturday night, a good time was had by all! The show was FANTASTIC! My seat was great, the closest I've ever had for a Rush show. Right smack in front of Ged, whoo hooo! I didn't notice any human errors during the show, possibly they were out of sync for about 30 seconds on "Time Stand Still"? What do I know. Did Ged have to switch out his bass at the beginning of the show where he normally doesn't? It seemed like he had to switch out for some reason where I didn't remember him doing that before. Neil's solo was absolutely spectacular, I don't know if I ever enjoyed his solo as much as this time. Every time I see them do Working Man it seems like Alex is more on fire than the last.. Can't wait for the next tour! Alex had to trade out his guitar during "Freewill" but still nailed the solo!!! God among men, I say.

    Rush Quotes

QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Jun 24 2011, 09:37 PM) "We let them in if they insist on coming." - Geddy on female fans at shows during a recent interview (can't remember which). And how could I forget the one that gave me my username? "Seven women at a Rush concert? That's got to be some kind of world record." -Neil in "I Still Love You, Man" Hahahaha! I love it when Jason Segel says something like "I think we understand when we're not wanted" and Neil casts his eyes to the ceiling and says "Finally!" in the greatest deadpan voice. They ALL did a great job in the video
  8. QUOTE (Undemanding Contact @ Jun 24 2011, 02:13 PM) Got a few more: Digital man: With the answers - but no clue Constant change is here to stay Second Nature: We fight the fire, while we're feeding the flames Anagram (for Mongo - whoever the hell Mongo is/was): The con they couldn't conceal The saint is turning to sin Bravado: We will pay the price, but we will not count the cost Face Up: Hit the target, or you better hit the ground I have checked all of FbN and CoS, and Neil did not use this technique in those albums at all. Moreover, from memory (I don't have time currently to trawl through the entire canon), I don't think he did in any of the 70's albums, or, at least, only rarely, so it seems to be something he developed in the 1980s (when, in my view, he cranked out some truly astonishing stuff). BTW, fellow fans, I was wondering how many bands exist to which this kind of analysis can be applied in earnest? Not many I'm sure, probably only a bare handful of prominent bands. Just goes to show what special stuff we have in Rush. "Anagram (for Mongo)" is a reference to the film Blazing Saddles- the original line in the movie is "Candygram for Mongo!" It's just a little joke, like Austin Powers in Goldmember line "Isn't that weird?" title card on the S&A Live DVD.
  9. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Jun 26 2011, 06:05 PM) QUOTE (HowItIs @ Jun 24 2011, 11:32 PM) One of my favorites: An ounce of perception, a pound of obscure Ditto. And from the same song: "Fact is it's fiction". Except the lyrics is "the fact is, this friction/will only be worn by persistence."
  10. This entire thread is making me howl I've never thought of Neil as attractive but I've had a thing for Ged since September 2006 and for Alex since July 2008. . .
  11. Absolutely wonderful to attend the meet-up! I'll post my pics soon enough!
  12. QUOTE (Rushchick10 @ Jun 5 2011, 10:50 PM) QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 5 2011, 12:47 PM) You gals are DIRTEE!!! Though I am partial to my Dirk and Lerxst Oh, dear, dear Kelly. I know you too well to believe that we have offended you! You truly are a long awaited froind! How are you, Kelly? Friggin' excited for Sin City, baby!
  13. QUOTE (tick @ Jun 19 2011, 10:30 AM) Insanely cool, Kelly! I met you at Mohegan Sun last year. Your a sweet girl. Happy Birthday! Thank you!!! And we're friends on Facebook too, you goof
  14. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Jun 18 2011, 03:02 PM) I'm glad you posted your story here. You alluded to it on FB and I couldn't find it on RIAB. What an awesome b-day for you Kelly. I'm so happy that you got this great experience and all the goodies too! BTW when Michael brought me my sticks he said these are from Neil...guessing he might have said something similar to you! Rush Rocks!!!! Michael, when he gave me my first pair of sticks in 2008, said "Neil says Happy Birthday." I thought he might've said "Happy Birthday again" but who knows. I yelled "THANK YOU" in his ear, so at least I remembered my manners. I was a little bit more profane the first time- I screamed "ARE YOU F#$%ING SERIOUS?!" and then had an out-of-body experience
  15. QUOTE (Spoutnik @ Jun 19 2011, 01:20 AM) Just funny! It's very rare that Geddy make a mistake but this one is amazing, when he start singing The spirit of radio he sang: "Off on your way, hit the open road, There is magic at your fingers... Instead of "Begin the day with a friendly voice, A companion unobtrusive... Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p61qiA-kgY8 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-TxKIb_bBw...n_order&list=UL Oh my GAWD that was hysterical! It seemed like everyone in the first three rows was cracking up. I couldn't stop laughing! Even Al and Neil were wearing expressions of mirth!
  16. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jun 16 2011, 12:59 PM)QUOTE (RUSHian62 @ Jun 16 2011, 11:42 AM) I hope they come back to Mass or CT!!! I want to see them soooo bad! If they come back to Connecticut they should play somewhere other than Mohegan Sun. Most concerts there sound horrible. When I saw Rush there last summer the bass was so loud it nearly drowned out the guitars. And the security there is f@#$ing awful
  17. This is lifted mostly from my posts on rushisaband.com but I thought I'd post my story here, too. . . I got a front row ticket, Alex side, to the El Paso show. I made a sign saying it was my 23rd birthday (cos, well, it was) with caricatures of the Gershon's Haus of Sausage guys and me and hung it on the barrier for part of the show. . . Alex saw it during "The Spirit of Radio" and mouthed "Happy Birthday!" to me. I could've gone home ecstatic at that, but it got way, way better. . . Not only did Tony G. give my friend and me picks before the show, I had a conversation with John Arrowsmith (dapper chap that he is) and he took a pic of my sign for the Rush on the Road pics. My friend also got a roadie to give me a red Geddy pick. We had a blast in the front row- it was a truly special time, especially since the guys goofed during "The Spirit of Radio" and "Workin' Them Angels"! Al's roadie Kevin gave me a blue R30 pick saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY" on the side of his signature during the beginning of "Tom Sawyer." He told me "He [Alex] did this during the break" and I gazed at it, shocked. No freakin' kidding! HOW DID HE KNOW MY NAME?! Shortly after that, I started crying, and Al started making fun of me from the stage (throwback to Cleveland, where I cried during "Closer to the Heart" and he made the same face at me). I pointed at him and jokingly told him to "shut up! Stop mocking me!" with a huge smile on my face. Michael Mosbach (Praetorian) also came up to me in the beginning of "Red Barchetta" and handed me a pair of Neil's used sticks They have the alchemy symbol for copper on them, they're scuffed up, and they're beautiful. Michael said something to me but I couldn't make out what he said. What happened next though was something I NEVER imagined could be: I accidentally took a picture with flash during "Caravan." I freaked out and then a few minutes later during Neil's solo Al's same roadie Kevin walked up to me and said "Come with me, and take your camera." I thought he was going to confiscate my camera! I asked "Am I in trouble?!" and Kevin said, "You are definitely not in trouble." What I saw, as we walked on the side of the stage, was Alex sitting listening to Neil's solo. He got up and I threw my arms around him and said "THANK YOU." As Kevin fiddled with the camera I said, "Ya know, I've always wanted to ask you something- 'do you like to party?'" - a stupid little aside from the Trailer Park Boys movie Countdown to Liquor Day. He laughed and we finally got the picture to work. I hugged him again (nice and sweaty) and said that I met him last year and that I am so thankful for him and a bunch of other coherent hooey. I also told him "Bubbles shoulda been your guitar tech for the Boston show" - alluding of course to the infamous "Still No Guitar" rant. . . he liked that, too After some more Alex snugs and more wishing of a happy birthday, I left and returned to my spot in front row. Here's the pic. We look so happy! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/dancingdays/random/IMG_0662.jpg And that's not all! During the beginning of "Closer to the Heart" I just rested my head on the barrier and cried a little bit because I was so flippin' happy. I pulled out my sign (with my hand-painted picture of the three Gershon's Haus characters and me) and when I caught Alex's eye, I pointed out that Slobovich and I were right next to each other, mirroring the picture we had taken minutes earlier. He grinned at me. During "2112: Overture" Geddy came over to our side of the stage and I pointed out Gershon on my sign to him and he made a face at me ;D Alex tossed me a Slobovich shirt and I wore it for the encore. It's the one that said "Books are for tourists"! Lots of grooving, lots of gaffes, and a general liveliness was there last night! Alex was goofing around, smelling his pits during "Tom Sawyer," waving at random people in the audience, and joking with the girls who stood with Darin and me in the front row. At the end, when they were waving goodbye to everyone, I blew Alex a kiss and he blew one back to me. Absolutely incredible!!!
  18. For what it's worth, diet soda is even worse for you than regular soda. It's filled with chemicals that either fool you into thinking you can have more calories/sweet things, leech calcium from your bones, or turn to formaldehyde in your body. Stick with seltzer if you need the carbonation, or good old H2O
  19. You gals are DIRTEE!!! Though I am partial to my Dirk and Lerxst
  20. I'm going to be 23 in 10 days. . . been a (huge, crazy, enthusiastic, devoted) fan since I was 18!
  21. I'm a fairly "new" Rush girl- I've been into them since September 2006, when I was 18. My boyfriend at the time introduced me to the Holy Triumvirate (he was older than me so he was a fan of Rush when Hold Your Fire came out- he was in high school). However, I quickly surpassed him in my fanaticism (common theme, I guess)! Thanks to rushisaband.com and Facebook, I have discovered this whole network of Rush Rats! Incredible!
  22. QUOTE (2112Oracle @ Jun 4 2011, 11:15 PM)QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 4 2011, 11:18 AM) I'll be there to celebrate my 23rd birthday! I'm glad Jaime's gonna be there. . . I think I know how she got her ticket What an awesome way to celebrate your birthday! Thanks. I'm totally super freakin' pumped. Keep having dreams about it
