  1. My kids are little Rush heads too. I took three to the Time Machine show in Vegas. They were 11, 9 and 8 at the time. They all loved the show, and did well, BUT.... It was pretty loud. I planned for this and brought ear plugs, but the plugs ended up hurting their ears, and I ended up running up to buy the cheap foam plugs from the vendor stand. Also, with the shows starting generally around 8pm, and running on the +side of 3 hours, they were really burning out in the second set. Of the three, the boy (now 10) is the only one I am taking to CA. He did the best, and although he started to wear down at the end, he perked up for Working Man (his favorite song) and is more prepared for the upcoming show. I would personally not take a 4 1/2 year old. They will not enjoy it past the first hour or so, and you will have a hard time enjoying it as a result.
  2. QUOTE (humble-dumb @ Aug 15 2012, 10:31 AM) So I am just wrapping up my first spin on Grace for Drowning. I expect the album will grow on me, but my immediate reaction is that while I like elements of it, I do not like the free-form jazzy stuff. So far I like PT more than the solo effort, at least this particular album. Will give it more time and see how it goes. I put the album down for a couple weeks, after only a couple listens. A few days ago it came in on the rotation and I let it play. And then I played it again. And again. I really, REALLY dig it. I ordered Insurgentes yesterday, the CD since there are a couple of tracks not included on the mp3 download.
  3. I am stunned. I might actually throw up. How did I miss this?
  4. Holy. Freakin. Crap. I originally got on Rush Forum for the same reason as the rest of you. Huge Rush fan. Reading this sub-forum is where I got convinced to check out PT as well as C&C. Has had a huge impact on me musically, I ate PT up. So good. I decided to check out this Opeth thread just this morning. I am listening to the full album version of Blackwater Park on Youtube right now. WOW. These guys are amazing. And I havent even scratched the surface.
  5. Owl, thanks for the responses. I have Stupid Dream next on my list, and was also considering Nil Recurring since it seems to be made at the same time as FOABP which I absolutely love. And I appreciate the warning on the earlier stuff, I will take your advice and go with Stars Die to get a taste of the earlier stuff.

  7. QUOTE (PolarizeMe @ Aug 14 2012, 07:41 PM) QUOTE (humble-dumb @ Aug 14 2012, 03:27 PM) Question, and sorry if this has already been covered (this thread is currently 169 pages long...). Why is Stupid Dream the only PT album NOT available for download? Amazon, iTunes, whatever... Its not available. And I havent found an answer through normal searches. Stupid Dream's available to download here, but I'll give you a heads up, this is a FLAC download so you'll need something like VLC Player (it's free) to play it. https://www.burningshed.com/store/porcupine...roduct/94/1184/ As to why it's not on Amazon, iTunes, etc. I can't answer that because I don't know why either. It was once available on iTunes as I recall seeing it on the iTunes store about 2 years ago, but I guess it disappeared since then. Thanks for the response. There seems to be a readily available FLAC to mp3 converter for free download, so I may do this. I dont think I am patient enough to wait for a physical CD to be delivered, and I dont have time to drive around hunting for it.
  8. Jeez. I havent even finished building my PT collection yet. Have not heard anything on that side that I dont like. Now scanning thru this thread Im thinking I need to get some SW as well. Not even sure where to start. FOABP DW IA LBS Incident Those are not in order of preference, but that is the PT catalog I currently have. SD is next on my list. Recommendation if I were to pick up one SW album for now?

  10. Was also at the show last night. It was incredible. The boys energy was infectous, instrumentally they were perfect, and we were the beneficiaries of an 11-day break as Geddy's voice was for the most part fantastic. I have zero complaints about the show. Obviously the Camera Eye was amazing. I absolutely loved Marathon. Witch Hunt was so fricken good. La Villa Strangiato was such a good encore. Amazing setlist from start to finish. Zero complaints. Wish I were in a position to hit at least one more show on this tour. They are on fire.
  11. If they are still available, would love to bring my two sons to the show...
  12. That set list would friggin rule. The longer songs would account for the shorter list, if they play those songs in full. Hell I'm just stoked to be blessed enough to see these guys again, every tour is bonus time at this point as far as Im concerned. I will take anything, even a CTTH close, which is one of my least favorite Rush songs, but we're talking live, in-person. We all know how quickly and devastatingly circumstances can change, in any facet of life. Treat every Rush show like it's your last.
  13. Tough one for me, so many tracks are neck and neck on Counterparts. Went with Double Agent, although I nearly hit the button for Nobody's Hero.
  14. Resist, by a wide margin. Great friggin song.
  15. I really dig Armor and Sword a lot, but I voted for Hope. I love the way it was put together, the way it speaks to my heart and creates a stir everytime I hear it.
