  1. If we're going by favorites (I think the video was more based on commercially successful songs, which I get): Red Barchetta Subdivisions Limelight Spirit Freewill New World Man Natural Science Analog Kid Entre Nous 10. The Camera Eye
  2. Oh god Entre, what have you done??
  3. Alright guys, for this list the criteria is based on Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures and Signals. Here is the video my buddy posted summing up there choices. I don't necessarily agree with all of his choices for replacing Losing It but I just like how tongue and cheek the intros are. Also Tom Sawyer for any Rush fan is beat into the ground. I agree.
  4. I laughed at that too blueschica haha
  5. Everything to me goes by release date personally, I know everybody has their objections though
  6. Hey guys, I know this subject has been beat to death on here. Believe me. I know. But a couple of my buddies put together this video that I thought was pretty good (and pretty funny in parts to us diehards). I know they'll be putting together a few more too but I told them I'd share it here. Any feedback is appreciated
  7. No problem Lucas, I know I like hearing how the boys influenced other musicians so I figured I'd post that here.
  8. Hey guys, I know news is slow lately (besides the occasional Alex sighting or Geddy being interviewed by Rather thing) but I thought it was cool that Shawn Drover who played in Megadeth for 10 years name dropped Neil as the best living drummer around the 28 minute mark of this podcast and cited Rush as his first concert as well mid interview. I know it's not for everybody but for anybody that is interested: https://rockboyradio.podbean.com/e/rockboy-radio-season-2-ep-2-shawn-drover-act-of-defiance/
  9. Being the sick and twisted Rush fan that I am I would love to see a setlist like the OP posted live. I've only seen the boys 7 times (24 years old) but I am burnt out on a lot of the "classics" and definitely would like to see Everyday Glory, Face Up, Superconductor, Emotion Detector, etc... live over TS or Far Cry again. I can't stand Red Sector A and they seem to play it at least every other tour with the last 6 or so.
  10. 1. Tom Sawyer (though it may be from overexposure) 2. Red Sector A 3. The Garden 4. One Little Victory 5. Stick It Out 6. By-Tor 7. Force Ten 8. Losing It 9. Earthshine 10. Lakeside Park When I think overrated I think of songs that the band either really likes a lot or that get a lot of buzz around here as being better than what they really are. For example I would never include FOL in something like this because, by consensus, it isn't generally rated that high within their discography in the first place.
  11. It's from the Auburn Hills show during the Presto tour in 1990. I don't know what gen VHS is widely spread, but it's not a first gen tape. The Time Stand Still DVD came with the real pro-shot footage from that night as bonus material. The VHS tape is the full show and they're exactly the same source, but the VHS is far worse quality. Thanks TFE but I'm looking for the 30 second or whatever it is montage from the documentary. I just thought it was very well done and slightly funny the way they did that.
  12. That's alright guys, thanks for the effort!
  13. Hey guys, I went to see the theatrical release of the Time Stand Still documentary and there was a scene a little bit later in the documentary where they made a montage type of thing with Red Barchetta. They started out with the R40 version and right before the part where Geddy's voice gets rough... you know the "he said it used to be a farm" part... they switch over to footage from one of those pro-shot shows from the early 90's. Does anybody know where I can find just that clip online?
  14. Some examples being thrown around here are great. The new Def Leppard self-titled and Van Halen's "ADKOT" are both great examples of this. I for one liked "Super Collider" better than "Dystopia" from Megadeth but that may be because I'm a bigger hard rock fan than thrash fan. Rush has always been progressive and their sound has always changed which is why I think we may be more accepting of their current music. When you think of a band like Def Leppard or some band along those lines all of their hits are in lock-sync with their "signature sound" (Pyromania, Hysteria, Adrenalize) and formula. Rush never had that formula to make hits, all their "hits" sound pretty different (compare "Working Man" to "Subdivisions") A couple other newer albums by old bands worth checking out are Infestation by Ratt, Sting in the Tail by the Scorpions and Eclipse by Journey (with Arnel on vocals). If you like these bands you won't be disappointed.
  15. Hey guys, I check out this podcast called RockBoy Radio, they frequently drop Rush references (well one host does) and for there "Top 3" list this week they had the top 3 songs from 2000 and later. One of the hosts dropped One Little Victory on the number two spot on their list. I thought some people may find that interesting. The T3 starts around the 30 minute mark. http://rockboyradio....g-road-to-ruin/
  16. Hey Ancient Ways, always respect your opinion. The top three breakdown starts at the 12:50 mark.
  17. Hey guys, long time reader, infrequent poster. I may get crucified here but I think a lot of you will like it. My buddy started a podcast about rock/hard rock/metal. He is a huge Rush fan and the other host (who is Canadian ironically) doesn't like them at all. I think he does a good job defending them during the portion where they talk about Peart's retirement plans and he chooses them as the number one show he'd want to see right now. Let me know your thoughts if you listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSyYGwRd1_s
  18. Hey guys, Rush finally got their shot on Rock Song of the Day with "Take a Friend"! Check it out here! www.rocksongoftheday.com
  19. Hey guys, my buddy and I started a new rock website and we really need a knowledgable and literate rock fan to help us out, and where better to find that with Rush fans? :sundog: There are many perks to writting for the site. Please e-mail maxeystcharles @ charter. ne t if interested!
  20. Hey guys, I just have a quick story. My name is Andrew, I'm 20, I'm a huge Rush fan and I play competitive hockey and played competitive baseball in high school. I currently play recreational baseball. My baseball coach, who is a great guy, has a brother in law that was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease. It is a terrible neurological disease that essentially makes you a prisoner inside your own body. Anyway long story short, I have recently been given the task to try to promote their foundation's Facebook and Twitter accounts because they seem to not be getting any traction. The foundation's name is the RASCALS Foundation which is an acronym for the Robert A. Stehlin Campaign against ALS. It is a 100% volunteer organization, all money raised goes directly into contributions for research or events such as trivia night and an annual run. It is a fairly new organization, only being in existence for less than 3 years. The reason I decided to post it on this board is because Bob has been a huge fan of Rush since the 70's and continues to keep up with their current work despite this debilitating disease. Even though he is in a wheelchair he made it out to the Clockwork Angels tour in St. Louis at the Scottrade Center. Please help support his cause by liking the foundation's Facebook page www.facebook.com/rascalsfoundation or follow us at @rascals_found on Twitter. Thanks.
  21. I know they did this one at St. Louis. They do it anywhere else?
  22. It comes in around the 1:30 mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73FCliajizc
  23. Apperently from the sound of things they could have used more of a Neil Stephenson type author to deal with the plot of the story.
