  1. dude- just wait until the event is rescheduled; RUSH WILL do that...then sell you tix on ebay. even if you get $300-350 for them, it's better than what you will have to pay in legal fees. even if you win, you're still going to be losing $$. and seeing as how big corp's have good lawyers, the probability that you will win the case is not so good...
  2. you can feel safe sending them to me. i have a great interest in seeing rush in toronto. i've seen them in many other places in north america, since the early 80's when i was just a wee lad. i would represent you and your family very well. i will be a kind and helpful audience member. plus, i'll get backstage and get autographs for you. i may also ask them to send their jet to you in the UK. you can fly back to north america with geddy and alex, sound ok?
  3. where are your PRIMUS tickets?? it'd be a geat nightcap!!
  4. QUOTE (Supersyl @ Jul 8 2010, 03:16 PM) When I'm not air drumming, I enjoy air triggering samples with your feet or hands?
  5. OMG! it's like being left at the alter... watching the sarnia forecast CLOSELY...driving 3.5 hours from ohio. gulp. what do you do after a show is canceled? go home and pop in R30 dvd? cry?
  6. QUOTE (savagegrace26 @ Jul 6 2010, 12:10 AM) La Villa - Chicago Check out Geddy's ponytail. looks like it's the Presto tour!
  7. QUOTE (cygnus_thegodofbalance @ Jul 5 2010, 02:28 PM) I'm not a whiner. I just know what I like. And if you want mistakes, go watch A Show of Hands! There's one on YYZ, Neil's Solo, 2112, and The Spirit of Radio!
  8. QUOTE (J0N @ Jul 5 2010, 06:36 AM) Complaining about peoples over enthusiasm at gigs is nearly as bad as people complaining about the lack of enthuasiasm from others. no, it's not son. when people ruin things for others, it's just down right rude. now- go do your summer reading.
  9. QUOTE (jgage @ Jul 5 2010, 11:24 AM) First post, so please don't kill me. I have been following the triumphant since Permanent Waves and my first live show was during Signals in 1982. I know alot of you were not alive yet, but that's o.k. I have been to at least 15 Rush shows over the years. Not alot compared to some of you but enough to know what to expect from a Rush show. I was at the show on Saturday in Milwaukee with my 11 y/o son (first Rush concert) and yes there were some technical glitches. I have been playing guitar live with a band for almost 15 years, and if I would have had the same problems Alex was having with his rig that night, I would have thrown my beloved les paul across the stage. Being the professional that Big Al is, he worked his way through it and finished strong. I am not a drummer so I can't comment on Neil's kit or his sound. I do have a few things to say though. I cannot believe the amount of whining going on within this site. "the set list sucks", "why is Geddy singing so high","Neil's drums are out of tune" Be happy that this band is still blessing us with it's presence after 30+ years. We all know that this is quickly going to come to an end, so lets stop bitching and enjoy the time we still have with the "greatest band in the world". For those of you complaining about Geddy's voice, let's all go together and see some bands from that era play live right now and then we will see who is complaining about his range. How's this for an idea: If you don't like the set list, don't buy a ticket. That will mean more room for me and my son next year when they come back to support Time Machine. spoken like a true rush fan! best thread on the www
  10. back to back @ same venu, red rocks in colorado- which would be a very cool place to film a DVD for this tour.
  11. please if you can help it, do not sing like these folks during the camera eye and ruin it for me!! listen in around 2:40 and 4:11, 6:30 i mean it was cool and all when the rio crowd "sung" to YYZ on the rio dvd, but if you can help it, maybe just air guitar during the camera eye?? please? at least next friday @ sarnia. sing all you want during lyrics...quietly
  12. QUOTE (cygnus_thegodofbalance @ Jul 4 2010, 07:02 PM)Sounded like a shitty show. you sound like the critics in the newspapers...
  13. QUOTE (farcryoverspilledmilk @ Jul 4 2010, 12:20 PM) Hysterical. I have played drums since age 4, I think I know a thing or 2,000 about tuned drums. Neil's drums do not sound good and are tuned down so low the fills that are there to compensate for him choosing to no longer have concert toms or even the rack of smaller closed toms that he used to have, sound off, odd, and just flat out wrong. I have heard Rush cover bands with drummers on YouTube who have painstakingly gone out of their way to get to Neil's exact sound so the notes match. Beautiful looking drums and beautiful riser he has, but the sound is just WRONG. I get a kick out of some people who jump all over you if you criticize this band in any way shape or form. They are not perfect so get over it. It doesn't mean I don't love the band any longer, but man, you should be able to critique what you heard and saw without someone getting all over you. The Time Machine Tour's set list is very average...there...I said it. I didn't say the entire show sucked. Far from it. But seriously, get over the whole they can do no wrong approach. so your ears know better than the professor's ears on how his kit should sound? that's what i'm hearing from you. i'm not saying they are a bunch of robots and never make mistakes. mistakes are a part of live music. i actually like to see a mistake here and there- i like to see how they react to it. i just don't like how some folks make it sound like they should be the stage production manager or something. a hobby is a lot different than a profession bubba.
  14. QUOTE (farcryoverspilledmilk @ Jul 4 2010, 02:11 AM) There were 4 guys who had a copy of the set list and it was like clockwork. They were there for the opening video, spirit, time stand still, presto, drink run, bu2b, chatted, made cell phone calls, marathon all came back for and never left once after that. If that doesn't speak volumes...I don't know what does. it speaks to me...it says: 4 idiots spent $100+ on a ticket to miss some of it by talking on their phones. the actions of some people does not dictate the validity of a setlist or performance. is touring people: thank f-ing GOD!!!!. none of the critics around here can spoil that! no matter how hard they try to be a debbie downer, is doing what they do: kick
  15. QUOTE (farcryoverspilledmilk @ Jul 4 2010, 02:11 AM)LOL...couldn't have said it better myself...haha. For real, Neil's drums just sound so out of tune and everyone who was a musician who I spoke with during intermission said the same thing. soooo...some "musicians" in the audience know more about drums; how they are to, not only be arranged and tuned- but also how they should be played, than the best skin basher the good lord has ever blessed us with?
  16. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Jul 2 2010, 01:38 AM) QUOTE (savagegrace26 @ Jun 30 2010, 06:51 PM) Has this been posted yet? Much better video. Caravan Alex's Guitar solo for this song in studio is probably the worst Rush guitar solo ever. How come he decides to play it so much better live? did ya listen to the solo? big al brought it on that one! just cuz your not familiar with it...don't bash it. the man knows how to lay down sweet leads. your loss if you don';t hear it on this one...
  17. QUOTE (JaymeZC @ Jun 30 2010, 04:39 PM)Hi there Rush gals! My fiance and I are trying to plan our wedding. We are both enormous Rush fans and want to be able to incorporate them into our wedding. The theme of the wedding is going to be Time Stand Still. I was really hoping to use the song as our first dance, however the upbeat 80's tempo really puts a damper on a slow dance. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions (if anyone has heard a slower rendition, a different Rush song that would make a better first dance). Any advice, comments, questions, or sharing of experiences is all greatly appreciated. Jayme i'd suggest the pass... if not what about losing it- is their a "prettier" rush song? maybe not ideal lyrically... or- Cygnus X-1 at about the 8:00 mark.
  18. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Jul 2 2010, 06:52 PM) I actually like Presto, but wouldn't War Paint be a little more up beat for so early in the set? only the beginning of war paint really. presto has a better buildup throughout the track
  19. QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 2 2010, 11:26 AM)Dumbest post of the year. Being a fan doesnt mean you're not allowed to be critical if you want. This is a message board, we disect things here. Cant handle that? Then turn your computer off. Bye. disect is one thing. the way many folks talk about rush around here is infantile, it encourages the thought that they really know very little about music, and have some serious issues that they feel they need to displace on
  20. QUOTE (Terrapin @ Jul 3 2010, 04:42 AM) Hello All, Can anyone tell me which songs Alex is using his PRS guitars for? Many Thanks! looked only like time stand still. it is an older model, lerxst has had since the late 80's/early 90's. an unusual pickup combo: single coil in the bridge and double coil routed in the neck- no middle pickup. he at one time had a single coil in the neck position, even though it's routed for a humbucker. i have a few pics of him with that guitar from guitar mags around the presto release date...
  21. that's pretty standard. it means the boys are doing just what we like! if the "critics" don't like it, i usually do.
  22. alice in chains was the best band to come out of seattle in the 90's...period. i'm sorry that all you pearl jam fans had to hear that.
