  1. My favorite would be Mike Rutherford's "Smallcreep's Day" followed by 801 Live!
  2. According to an interview with Roger in Rolling Stone. The stage for this next leg of America is designed specifically for stadiums. He didn't go into detail but it sounds like the wall may be built in a square or circle. More dimensional than the last time through.
  3. Na na na gonna have a good time... I like to swim...
  4. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 29 2011, 09:59 PM) QUOTE (SeamusWiles @ Apr 29 2011, 07:56 PM) most of S&A is a "far cry" from the great music Rush used to make. Although Caravan & BU2B seem to be a step in the right direction. Again, I totally disagree. At least half of S&A is the best music they've made in many years, and Caravan and BU2B are a step in the wrong direction. Not a huge step backwards, like in terms of the quality of VT, but a step down nonetheless. +1 I really like S&A and feel it's some of their best music in many years. I'll take Far Cry over OLV anyway. The two new songs are good but I like most of S&A better.
  5. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Mar 28 2011, 12:45 AM) QUOTE (Tony R @ Mar 27 2011, 03:56 PM) Fripp is getting old. This taken on March 10th: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/reedlover/89917ec9.png Damn! More like Robert Nasal Dripp. Sucks getting old. I'm going to pass on this album. By the way who does all of their artwork? The dude must be making some good money! Glad Fripp can still play the guitar in his old age. Signed, Les Prog Paul Getting old sure beats the alternative. I'll check this one out. Very curious especially with the return of Mel Collins to the Crim fold. I can't believe you're going to pass on this one Earl.
  6. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Mar 22 2011, 12:13 AM) Here is something I don't admit to much on here. I am currently enjoying "Metropolis Part II: Scenes From A Memory." Great record. Even my wife told me tonight that I haven't played a Dream Theater record in the house for a very long time. So seriously, who the fuckk is the new drummer? Phil Collins? All of that retirement talk is bullshit............................ Trust me my friend. Phil has retired.
  7. At least Neil kept his shirt on during his solos. And thank god Carl did last time I saw Asia.
  8. I have to admit after seeing the current line up live three times now, I welcome the return of Trevor and Geoff. I love Drama but am bored stiff with the current line up.
  9. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Mar 15 2011, 03:43 PM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Mar 13 2011, 02:49 PM) Apparently the new album is called "Fly From Here"... good name I guess... ^ if that's true, that's an old name Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes wrote the Yes song 'We Can Fly From Here' in 1980 They are rerecording that left over track from the Drama sessions and it is the title track of the new album.
  10. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Mar 11 2011, 03:59 PM) I'm reconsidering buying the new album/seeing Yes. At first, I was against the new lineup, but I think I decided that I will get the new album and possibly see them. It won't be the same without Anderson/Wakeman, but Squire, Howe, White, and the new guys all sounded great on the videos I've seen. I've seen the latest line up 3 times now and all 3 shows have left me cold. It's more like watching a Yes tribute with special guest members of Yes. White looks tired and the band has been pretty loose. Fine if you are a jam band improving but Yes is pretty much turning out the same set night after night. Benoit looks like a jon Anderson tribute singer but that's what you get bringing in a singer from a Yes tribute band. They should have gone out of the box to find a replacement for Jon. With all that said I am looking forward to the new album now that Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes are involved. Drama is one of my favorite Yes albums. I have a sneaky feeling that while Yes is currently on the road Horn/Downes are rewriting and rerecording the new album.
  11. About every other song is an instrumental. Track 6 is my fav. I remember the first time I heard Zombi. I kept waiting for the vocals to come in and ruin it. And that never happened!
  12. Did I ever turn you onto Comets on Fire "Blue Catherdral"? Came out a few years back but a great album. Don't care much for the vocals but the music is pure prog.
  13. QUOTE (different.hearts @ Mar 9 2011, 11:13 PM) Hey now, I like "Faithless"! Faithless and Vital Signs in the same night? No complaints from me.
  14. Remember I had an advance of this album and told you how great it was. I still love it!
  15. If our little girl was older, we'd be joining you Earl. But you will definitely find us on the lawn at Concord. Her last show in her Mom's belly was Rush in Vegas. So Rush in Concord would be a fitting first show out of the belly. Just need to find some good baby earplugs.
  16. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Oct 15 2010, 12:21 PM) QUOTE (ghostworks @ Oct 15 2010, 05:12 PM) Squackett (and no, I'm not kidding) That's terrible. Hope the music is better. Squire's last album, the Christmas thing, was terrible. I did like Conspiracy's "The Unknown" though. That Xmas album grew on me. At first I didn't care for it, but I quite like it now.
  17. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Oct 14 2010, 08:51 PM) What was that Aliens song from the 2008 tour? The only thing that song did for me was to make me believe that the Open Your Eyes album was not the most horrendous thing they ever did. From what I read elsewhere, that song is from the upcoming Hackett/Squire album.
  18. QUOTE (metaldad @ Oct 14 2010, 03:46 PM) QUOTE (ghostworks @ Oct 14 2010, 09:18 AM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Oct 14 2010, 03:48 AM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Oct 14 2010, 05:50 AM) If wikipedia is correct, Yes should be in the studio as we speak They are. Trevor Horn producing, apparently. hopefully, Benoit will come down with some terrible voice-afflicting illness (from which he'll fully recover from eventually, of course) and Chris will kick him out of the band and Trevor will have to step in I'd be happy with 'D2: Rise Of The Machine Messiah' I would be just fine with that. If the new stuff sounds anything like Drama , i am a happy mofo Despite my bashing of the current line-ups recent live shows, I am very curious to hear what they will bring us in terms of new songs. Especially if Trevor Horn produces the new album. Drama is one of my favorite Yes albums. Only time will tell... opps wrong band
  19. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Oct 14 2010, 10:13 AM) a few 'difficulties' I have with accepting Benoit David as a bona fide member of Yes: he was drafted into Yes as a 'temp' so that they could keep their tour commitments while Jon recovered from his illness - that's it he didn't 'audition' - Yes weren't looking to replace a singer (Jon never 'quit') in fact, Yes only became aware of David via his work as a Jon Anderson mimic in a Yes tribute band, not for his vocal talents in their own right for a little contrast, back in the 'pre-Drama' days, Jon (and Rick) had officially left the band and Trevor Horn wasn't singing in a Yes tribute band when he 'got the call' from Squire Trevor and Geoff (Downes) were writing, performing and producing their own music (Buggles) for these reasons alone, I have no 'problem' accepting Drama/the Drama tour as an 'official' version of Yes conversely, any album/tour that involves a Yes w/Benoit David is offensive I have to agree with you. I love Drama however the new line-up leaves me cold. I've seen this new line-up 3 times and each time it felt more like I was watching a Yes tribute band with special guests Squire/Howe/White. They should have got anyone but a Jon Anderson clone. It's one thing to sound (sorta) like him but he tries to move and act like Jon and that's where you loose me. I guess they felt the need to go the Journey route rather than bring some fresh new ideas into the band. I was really hoping they would have brought in a female singer to replace Jon. Now Yes has been reduced to playing state fairs and casinos with a tribute singer. After going through the Yes vs. Genesis thread, say what you will about Genesis, at least they went out in style and retired with the 2007 tour. That was a grand production unlike the winery show I saw Yes (or "Maybe" as I like to now refer to them) at this summer.
  20. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Oct 13 2010, 07:54 PM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 12 2010, 05:50 AM) Go to roger-waters.com at 2pm today for all the details of The Wall tour starting in September . I know of 2 shows already M.S.G and Nassau Coliseum in N.Y in October MSG is opening for Roger Waters???? KILLER! Going to go to the Oakland show December 3. Sweet. I will see you there. When they rescheduled San Jose, I canceled my tickets and picked up some tickets for Oakland. I hope you got seats further back from the stage and not up front. This show is best viewed straight back and elevated above the floor.
  21. QUOTE (metaldad @ Oct 12 2010, 05:54 PM) Went to FYE today and found... And Then There Were Three and Duke for $6.99 each and they are the c.d./d.v.d. remasters I forgot how good ...And Then really was . Lots of great percussion on And Then There Were Three. It's not up front in the mix but when you break it down Phil was playing some great percussive pieces along with his drumming. Duke is my favorite Genesis album. I'll put "Duke's Travels/Duke's End" up against any Genesis song. To me that was their best instrumental. Takes my mind on a journey every time I hear.
