  1. I bought a lawn seat to the Jiffy Lube Live show in Manasas, Virginia. I live not far from the venue so I went up to the box office; a month or so prior to the show, to buy my ticket. It saved me $10. I really enjoy the lawn at "The Lube". Sounds good, looks good and it was a beautiful Summer night under the stars. I paid a total of $37 for a single lawn seat.
  2. I used to have RUSH - Archives (first three RUSH albums specially packaged) on 8-track...I recall I traded my Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo 8-Track for it...whew that was a flash back !! I actually do still have one 8-Track. It is PINK FLOYD Animals. The reason I kept is that is the only place you can get the song; Pigs On A Wing-Part Two, containing a Snowy White (additional part time guitarist for Pink Floyd) guitar solo at the end of the song. For some reason; as far as I can find, this is the only place you could originally get this version of the song.
  3. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Aug 2 2010, 08:24 AM) QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Aug 1 2010, 10:15 PM) QUOTE (entmoot @ Aug 1 2010, 01:21 AM) In my opinion it really doesn't do anything for me. I don't hate it but it really doesn't go anywhere and then all of the sudden he breaks into CTTH. I agree with an earlier entry in the topic; I wish he would do Broon's Bane again. Like I said earlier...... It's called "Vamping for time before Closer to the Heart". And why not do a little bit of Broons Bane and the idea of playing the intro to A Farewell to Kings, to me, is brilliant. Alex could do a few of his acoustic things that he has done from somewhere in the 'time machine' and make it a real cool solo. That way, they can have some of those song titles in the set and still not have to worry about Geddy not being able to do justice to the vocals in AFTK and a few other things, save some time and still please the fans by at least giving a taste of some of that stuff. Neil gets a long solo, so why not Alex playing some old stuff that they used to do as an acoustic medley? If this would happen and then go into Closer to the heart! Fans would just get pissed. If you here the beggining AFTK, Believe me you're going to want to here the rest! Anything else woulkd be a let down! Heck, Rush has been teasing us with medley's for years and not playing entire songs. Leaving us fans dreaming/wishing they would. There are MANY examples of them doing that already so why not Alex during his acoustic solo. One "teaser" that pops to mind is; I think it was on the Roll The Bones tour, where they played the "Cygnux-X1: Book One - The Voyage" lick but not completing the song! Personally I am not fond of the band doing medley's but Alex doing it in his solo wouldn't "hurt" as much to me.

To quote Don and Phil Everly: "Dreeeaaammm, Dream, Dream, Dreeaamm, Dreeeaaammm, Dream, Dream, Dreeaamm......" PS: Mr Krinkle....nice Rick
  5. I found a version on You Tube... Oh, so it is a 12-stringed guitar solo. In my opinion it really doesn't do anything for me. I don't hate it but it really doesn't go anywhere and then all of the sudden he breaks into CTTH. I agree with an earlier entry in the topic; I wish he would do Broon's Bane again. Do it on the 12-String though. It is a little tougher on the 12-String than the nylon string but it works. Instead of ending Broon's Bane on the A chord, he could end Broon's Bane on the B flat 7 chord. Instead of resolving on the A chord; like BB does on ESL, he could go right into the opening figure for CTTH which is in A. For those guitar players out there; who know how to play both tunes, give it a try it works great. Also; the classical guitar intro to A Farewell To Kings would be a cool; and more fitting, intro to Closer To The Heart. It works just as good; almost, as an intro to CTTH as Broon's Bane does. In my opinion Broon's Bane or the intro to A Farewell To Kings would be more fitting on a tour called The Time Machine. Sorry, a guy can dream can't he?
  6. QUOTE (NaturalScientist75 @ Jul 31 2010, 08:53 AM) You can't buy meet and greet. You have to win them in a contest. Winning a contest being the case... Does anyone know how to enter into the "contest" to get to meet Alex and Ged?
  7. I am just curious. Does anyone know; on average, how much it costs to get your pix taken with Geddy and Alex? Or is the price the same at all locations? If it is, how much? ...oh and is the price per person?
  8. In my opinion, I liked the "rumoured" setlist much more. The songs listed were more enjoyable for me. ...but if I had to pick one from the "real" setlist it would have to be TCE
  9. QUOTE (By-Thor @ Jul 3 2010, 03:12 AM) http://www.kansascity.com/2010/07/02/20585...ck-in-time.html This is one of the worst reviews I have ever read of a live show, the author clearly just didn't like Rush! His biggest gripe with the show was that Rush sounded too authentic to the albums! He was mad that they played the songs exactly like you would hear them on the album! He's mad that their songs were basically perfectly executed. Horrible horrible review! The reviewer; Mike Judge, has been slamming RUSH shows since the 70's. He used to write for the Washington Post if my recollection is correct. He might not like them but he has been going to RUSH shows for years. After reading the article he obviously knows the RUSH canon. For some reason though; with his extensive RUSH concert experience, he still seems to think RUSH is some sort of live jazz improv band. They are a rock band that does not make improvisation a vital part of their live show. The last improvisation I recall; that they put into their show, was on the Roll The Bones tour. I recall an extended segue between two songs where they improvised each night. (I can't recall between which two songs it was though...) The bottom line though: RUSH is not and has never been a jazz band. You think by now MJ would understand that a RUSH show is not a place for over the top improvisation. There are obviously little bits of improvisation here and there but overall RUSH has ALWAYS tried to recreate exactly what they do in the studio for the stage. I do agree with his opinion related to The Camera Eye. For me, "Newer" RUSH (anything after Signals) is not as enjoyable as the "Older" RUSH. That is just my opinion and not meant to be negative.
  10. QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ May 21 2010, 12:55 PM) I'm really getting tired of your ignorance. Score Out "is in the know" and if you don't believe him... fine. He has proven himself several times to be spot on. All you need to do is look at his previous posts to determine that. Get a clue! Just because he doesn't divulge everything he knows or his inside connections, he somehow is just spreading rumors. If you think that only a couple of people know the setlist then you are a bigger fool than you appear to be. Do you have any concept of how large of a production a Rush concert is? Any idea of how many hands it takes to pull this off and how many people are in sync? Lighting, video, audio and guitar, bass and keyboard techs alone. If you think it's three guys in a warehouse, you are sadly mistaken. And now I'm taking it personal because you somehow think that I (or anyone that believes SO) is unable to discern between BS and the truth. Most speculation and rumors in here are complete BS, including the orginator of this thread. People that are looking for attention (as you say) post complete setlists and are totally obvious. They make up bogus stories of how they know something to be true. Their setlists are 30+ songs and don't even make sense. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to weed them out. For what's it's worth...I blindly received the same setlist; in my email, a few days ago from another RUSH "friend" suppossedly in the know...and no I didn't want to share it because of the inane comments I knew it would generate...mine included !! )
  11. It is my favorite Rush album so I would be thrilled if any song is performed on the next tour. NO MEDLEYS PLEASE !!
  12. It sure would be cool if they included bonus tracks on the new remixes...it would be an interesting TOPIC in itself... How about; if it exists, a sound check version of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight...that would be great filler for Permanent Waves...
