  1. I agree. For Geddy, other than playing the bass, he is on auto pilot for most of the keyboards these days. It's too bad because this is another reason I like to watch the older 80's videos because they were not using nearly as many samples as they do now. They actually played note for note on most stuff. My biggest dissapointment in Geddy was when he retired the Moog Taurus pedals in favor of sampled Taurus. Sorry but these ears can tell the difference.
  2. Neils drums sounded so much better on the Ludwigs than the current DW's. Not even close.
  3. Agreed! Rush wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the keyboards.
  4. QUOTE (gangsterfurious @ Sep 8 2012, 05:02 PM) QUOTE (Deckiller @ Sep 8 2012, 05:00 AM) The setlist was a dream come true. Crowd was terrible though. What was wrong with the crowd? Really? I thought the capacity crowd was great last night.
  5. QUOTE (Terrapin @ Sep 8 2012, 04:59 PM) Yes, and I find it quite disturbing.... Alex does the same thing with his guitar parts. I'm really beginning to wonder just how much of this show is "Live" and how much is playback. Funny how the band seem to think the audience actually believes that Alex is singing backing vocals... Geddy is really bad now with the keyboard samples. It's like he hit's a button on the keyboard or foot pedals and then it's all these prerecorded key samples which back in the day he would be playing note for note. Example was The Anarchist when you get those deep Taurus bass notes, when that part comes up, he taps the foot pedal once and autopilot kicks in and the notes are there but Geddy is walking around the stage. I hate it when musicians mellow with age!
  6. QUOTE (Powderfinger @ Sep 6 2012, 05:02 PM) I love Animate, and like Nobody's Hero well enough. But with such a vast catalog, I'd prefer to not have two songs from Counterparts. Someone please relay this to the band so they can tailor the setlist to my specific desires. I agree about Counterparts BUT at least they aren't playing Stick It Out AND Leave That Thing Alone for the godziilianth time!
  7. I wish Neils drums sounded that good!
  8. Please no 2112 Oveture\Temples and Working Man and LaVilla and Leave That Thing Alone and Freewill and Stick It Out and ........ Enough of the songs that have been played to death!
  9. Neil has become a DW rump swab just like the rest of you. You can't possibly say that the DW's have better sound than the Tama's or Ludwigs. Every album that used the Tama's or Ludwig's (until 1995) brought so much to the albums. Every album post CP, the drum sound has taken a huge step back. The mixing may play a little in that but Neils drum sound is a shell of it's former self. Do some live comparisons on YouTube, 1990 and post 1996 videos. My god, the live drum sound isn't even close!
