  1. QUOTE (default236 @ Aug 23 2012, 06:44 AM) QUOTE (WavesandWindows @ Aug 23 2012, 03:33 AM) QUOTE (sdhonda @ Aug 22 2012, 10:59 PM) Also, WavesandWindows and others: http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/tours/Tours.htm Complete list of setlists from every tour. Thanks very much for that Setlist page, sdhonda.... Anyway, what's this Taking Center Stage thing that default236 Isis talking about, I have the Time Machine DVD but I don't see it in my special features. All it has is outtakes from the set opening videos, Tom Sawyer with the cast of those videos, Need Some Love and Anthem.... If somone could please tell me where Taking Center Stage is I'd be very thankful.... It's Neil's newest drumming video. Here's the clip I was referring to: Pause at 0:15. Oh wow, I've seen that clip before and I didn't even notice it!
  2. QUOTE (WavesandWindows @ Aug 23 2012, 06:30 AM) How about we hear Hemispheres' Prelude in the way we heard Cygnus X-1 on the VT tour.... It would also be cool to hear that VT tour of Cygnus X-1 with the spoken intro be the opening song for all sets on the CA tour... who agrees? More likely something like this:
  3. Also, WavesandWindows and others: http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/tours/Tours.htm Complete list of setlists from every tour.
  4. I hope they do as well. Only song from VT that makes it into my playlists.
  5. Genesis fans, read and weep (with joy): http://www.hackettsongs.com/blog/steve90.html For an idea of how his first Genesis Revisited album sounded, try: www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-lUbhLIgVw
  6. In a certain sense, Rush fans avoid spoilers for the same reason most people avoid spoilers for anything else: it ruins the suprise. If they pull out a rare, unexpected piece, it's all the better that you don't expect it.
  7. When did it leak for the last few tours? I know a near complete leak happened for S&A a couple of days before...
  8. I know this is a thread debunking it, but come on: no song names in thread titles.
  9. I figure they might all have some extended solos in headlong flight.
  10. QUOTE (Amy Farrah Fowler @ Aug 14 2012, 05:58 PM) I think they do a nice job. Not over produced. I can't stand watching stuff like this and it's changing camera angles so fast. Yup. This drives me nuts about modern concert films.
  11. Yeah, if they do film it, it will probably be in Europe. Or Toronto.
  12. QUOTE (Kenny Olav @ Aug 12 2012, 02:32 PM) I don't hope that they play the entire 2112 album... just side A. I doubt they will play the whole CA album. 2112 (just the song) would be a great encore or end to the 2nd set. Well I think everyone has their own idea of an ideal set list for this tour. I also think everyone here will be happy with whatever Rush decides is best! Getting close to Sept 7!! Pretty much everything you said.
  13. QUOTE (worthog @ Aug 12 2012, 12:08 AM) If you consider the Time Machine Tour as the Clockwork Angels tour warm-up, then their setlist history shows that they don't change the setlist all that much between the two, hence 5 MP they already know to offset the CA songs they have to learn, idk about Caravan and BU2B being dropped though, but maybe they feel that we have heard it enough...unlike Witch Hunt Except that TMT was not a warm up tour at all. They haven't done a warm up tour since the 80s, and they all lasted 2 or 3 weeks, at most. It was closer to R30, in that it was going out for the hell of it. And they are compelled to put out something new every time, even if it is just a few songs.
  14. QUOTE (sitboaf @ Aug 12 2012, 11:51 AM) Different Stages contained the sidelong epic 2112. On R30, we got Xanadu and Natural Science. We were just treated to Moving Pictures in its entirety on the Time Machine Tour. I think the only epics left are Lamneth, Cygnus X-1 and Hemispheres. Since the boys won't be doing this forever, is there any chance we hear one of those on the CA Tour? And in 2014, once they're freed of playing most of Clockwork Angels live, maybe we'll hear the last true classic album, Signals, in it's entirety? Okay, first off: By Different Stages, you mean the T4E tour, right? Yes, they did 2112 in full there. They also did Natural Science then too, but not on R30. On the chances of each epic, at least as far as I can guess: Bytor: Very unlikely, an excerpt at best. Necromancer: Not gonna happen. At best, some sort of excerpt, but even then I can't imagine how to work it into anything but Bytor. Lamneth: Nope. There is no evidence that they ever did this live to begin with, why would they dredge it up now? Not even an excerpt. 2112: Not certain, but pretty likely, at least as far as the first movements are concerned. Now, with the string section in play, there is a slight, very slight but glimmering possibility that they may do the whole thing. Let us pray. Xanadu: Hard to say. With the string section in play, they may very well go with it. It has the kind of synths and epic quality that they could replicate easily with a string ensemble. Not certain by any means, but I can easily see it happening, if only a half version. Cygnus: Just an excerpt or a teaser. Pretty unlikely, but by no means a long shot. Hemispheres: Again, probably just the first section, perhaps even a shorter version of that. Not very likely, but it could happen. La Villa Strangiato: They might give this one a rest, but it has a pretty good chance to come up again. 50/50 really. Jacobs Ladder: Hard to say. They were bummed out on it in rehearsals for TMT, but then again they had always said the same thing about The Camera Eye. With the strings... who knows? Natural Science: Perhaps, hard to say. Again, they might find a way to redo it with the strings, and it could be interesting. But then again they might just skip it. Out of all the epics though (along with LVS to a lesser extent), this is the one that they are the least likely to chop up. If they do it, they'll do it whole hog or damn close. The Camera Eye: They will probably drop it, but it might still show up, perhaps as an intro, or just the first half or something.
  15. CD? Different Stages, discs 1 and 2. It's kind of like ESL in a way, in that it's mostly just hits and other strong songs from every era (well, except for pre 2112). But unlike ESL, it sounds great, you can even hear actual audience members throughout. ATWAS would be next, although for very different reasons. Time Machine is also pretty good, but the first set could be better. RIR is great mostly for the crowds and raw energy. R30 BLU-RAY would be the best video.
  16. Out of all the songs from G\P, this is probably the least likely to be played (and frankly, it's not very good).
  17. I paid 103 bucks for a ticket, for a show about the same distance away, plus air and hotel etc. This may be the very last tour, and perhaps the last chance I could have to see them, so I figure it's worth it.
  18. Indeed. I think the only way we might hear it ever again would be as part of a medley or a short teaser or something. EDIT: Oh heck, the chances of it popping up on this tour are nill. Take Working Man: it was the VT, R30 and TM tours. The VT tour was a sort of comeback show, so they had an excuse to whip it out at the end of the oldies medley. Again, similar with R30, and TMT. But they dropped it on the S&A tour, which was dominated S&A songs, obscure (to the average joe) rares like Circumstances and Entre Nous, and can't drops like TS and LL. This show will be dominated by CA songs, can't drops and songs that would work well with a string section (even if they only play part of the show). Even if they did have it in their 4 hour wishlist, it has so much competition that I can't see it making the cut. But then again I could be wrong.
  19. Probably because they just don't like it. Keep in mind, they only played the original version on the Rush, FBN and CoS tours. As early as the 2112 tour, the shortened it and cut into In The Mood. The dropped it completely following the Archives tour in '78.
  20. I tend to agree with you, but as metaldad pointed out, they already played it in '07. They then dropped it for the second leg of that tour.
  21. They will almost certainly play it. It has prominent strings, and it is the third single.
  22. Can't say that I think the first 5 songs are better or worse than any other run mentioned, but... I think it is terrible to compare by mere song count. Hemispheres can't count because it's only 4 songs? The title track is 18 minutes long. Be fair and compare by timing. Caravan through Carnies = 30 minutes.
  23. QUOTE (MMCXII @ Jul 28 2012, 09:33 AM) QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ Jul 27 2012, 04:05 PM) QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Jul 27 2012, 10:10 AM) ] I know I'm in the minority, but I think it would be great if Neil skipped his solo. Neil does solo's? Is this something new? I don't think Neil's done a show without a solo.. ever! There is a tape of their first show ever with Neil. Haven't heard it in a while, and the recording is pretty bad, but no solo if I recall correctly. Granted, it was 4 song, 20 minute opening set. EDIT: Oh, I am mistaken. Track listing at DRA shows that there is a drum solo at the end of working man.
