  1. That was my first show, and all I can say is that they every hit up Texas with a tour again in the future, I am DEFINITELY GOING! Tonight was a blast! Our section was kind of lame(105, far left upper pavilion if you face the stage). But I can't complain, people sitting infront of me made my view better, haha. I was really impressed overall, it seemed like each member was at the top of their game. It was brilliant to throw in a few gimmicky things during new songs(S&A, BU2B+Caravan) in order to keep the crowd interested. I thought the sound was fantastic and we had pretty bad seats as far as sound goes. I find using a small amount of tissue paper as an earplug cleans up the distortion and other noise quite a bit. I felt like I was listening to them straight off of an iPod. Favorite part of the night: Working Man, that solo was ridiculous. YYZ had me smiling the whole time as well. Leave That Thing Alone was also very good. Least Favorite: The intro video was not played on the side screens so we couldn't see it, but that wasn't a big deal. Neil's drum solo was a let down to me. In my opinion he should ditch the electronic part, or at least improve it or reverse the order. The first half of his solo was energetic, but the second was slow and didn't really mesh well. Also, he dropped a stick and took a few seconds to recover. I suppose it is hard to find the extra sticks when you hardly ever drop them. Anyway, one closing question I had for those of you who sat up close. What was thrown at Alex during Vital Signs(or maybe Witch Hunt, I can't remember). It looked like a lanyard or glowstick or something, but I saw him talking with a fan midsong, I think he even stopped playing a few notes. Actually I lied, I have another question haha. Does anyone know if there was a taper there last night?
  2. QUOTE (Ron2112 @ Jul 1 2010, 08:39 AM) So.....after listening to this recording from opening night, I have to say, without hesitation that this set sounds a hell of a lot better than it looks on paper. Yes, "Faithless" is the mid-set momentum-stealer that we all expect -- much in the same way "Secret Touch" killed ot for me on the SnA tour. But the rest really sounds great. "Presto" is so dramatic live. I really believe a few of the naysayers will be converted after seeing this. Some interesting technical flubs in this show....they almost hosed up the intro to TSOR, but everyone was going so nuts, it's hard to tell. Really starting to think that this is going to be an amazing concert. Peace, Ron Where did you get the taper pull? I haven't been able to find any.
  3. To those of you wondering what Love 4 Sale is, I can almost guarentee that it is a drum solo. I would say it is a reference to Buddy Rich's Love For Sale, which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBwigXsYA3I
  4. It has already been posted, but to reiterate....THE OFFICIAL SETLIST IS ALREADY ON RUSH.COM. You can already see what is coming. http://www.rush.com/resources/php/viewStory.php?id=367 Subdivisions is next.
  5. That was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the info. I have been to a few concerts, but only to bands that my friends wanted to see. Excited to see a band I actually want to go see. I had no idea they do an intermission, very good to know. Thanks again!
  6. Cool, thanks for the responses. Anything else I should be aware of as a first-timer? Do most people sing along or just air drum or what? Really looking forward to it!
  7. So I have a quick question, does Rush normally play the same setlist at every venue? Or do they switch it up each place they go? I don't have a very big collection of their music, so if I can find the songs out beforehand I would like to make sure and listen to them a couple of times. Thanks in advance.
  8. Well, you have to consider what would happen if they said cameras WERE allowed. People would be bringing in huge proffesional cameras and taping sets that would pull away from the sales of their proffesionally done stuff. I never knew that Rush was a camera hater though, good to know for the future.
  9. QUOTE (FOH Lights @ May 31 2010, 08:37 PM) QUOTE (Bukaloo @ May 31 2010, 07:19 PM)QUOTE (ALifeson85 @ May 31 2010, 04:01 PM) I noticed on my Rush tickets for the upcoming tour, they say NOTHING about cameras being prohibited. But, on the LAST tour, my ticket said "No camera/video allowed"...yet during the entire show, half the crowd had their camera phones and digital cameras out, snapping away. I have just a simple Sanyo digital camera...nothing "professional", that I would like to take with me to the show. Last time, I purposley left my camera in my car, just to be safe, but once I noticed how many people actually had THEIR cameras, I was pissed. Should I risk it this time? The people you saw snuck them in. Most tie them to the inside of the pants and hide it in their groin region past security. They can't confiscate it but they can ask you to return it to your car. A lot of venues do not allow them, but those same venues are actually pretty lax with the rule inside the actually venue. So if you get past security with it, you will normally be fine to take pictures, as long as you don't cause a disturbance or take a flash photo right infront of a security guard. I disagree. If it states on your tickets that cameras aren't allowed... don't sneak them in. One reason is simply because they aren't allowed. However, the main reason is because the band does NOT appreciate it. Security in some venues may be lax, but I've seen more than a few people get dirty looks from Geddy & Alex when taking pictures in venues that prohibit it. Granted, if you're more than 20 rows back, they probably won't see you, but even still, it's just wrong. So, show some respect for the venue AND the band and just abide by the rules. Well, as a general given, it probably isn't smart to be taking pictures right infront of the band. It's probably the flashes that piss them off. If you arn't right in the front they won't care. I'm pretty sure I have read stories on this very forum of Geddy smiling for pictures midshow. Show its really up to yourself to bring it in or not. Snapping a few memory photos isn't going to piss off the band, from what I can tell. Just know that you risk losing your camera if you arn't smart with it. And if you do try to sneak it in, go a little early incase you have to return it to your car.

  11. It's been busy around here and I just now got a chance to look at buying tickets. Only think I can get is 105. It's unbelievable that they sold out so quick that day. If anyone is playing on selling two tickets that are better than section 105 far back, send me a message.
  12. QUOTE (Solitudeix @ Apr 9 2010, 08:47 PM) I think shows sound better with earplugs anyway. Cuts out hissy high frequencies. Bingo. People think that earplugs drown out the music. I've found that the expanding earplugs actually make things clearer, as it takes away surrounding crowd chatter so you can really focus on the music. Two years ago was my first real concert as an adult, and I didn't think I needed earplugs because I was pretty far back in a stadium. I was wrong. I couldn't hear anything after the concert, and couldn't really sleep for days after the concert because my head was spinning and my ears were ringing. The loudness basically set off insomnia. Glad I learned my lesson early, though.
  13. Alright, so a few other questions: As far as I can tell, the ticket sale date for every venue seems to begin around April 17th. Are there normally presales? And if so, where? I'll be on a fishing trip that weekend and my dad is going to be out on business, so I am hoping to get the tickets that friday or earlier if possible. Also, how quick do the tickets sell? If I can't get them that weekend, will I still be able to get reserved seating on Sunday night/Monday morning? I guess there will always be scalpers, but I'd rather pay face value if possible.
  14. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 01:37 PM) Jeez, there's no way for me to say this without sounding like a jackass which I don't mean to be but...uh.. you were actually concerned that the whole tour might consist of 7 songs? Not to worry! There'll be more where those came from! Indeed I was! I knew the band was getting old, but I was hoping they weren't at the point where 7 songs would be considered a show!
  15. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Apr 8 2010, 01:29 PM) QUOTE (Bukaloo @ Apr 8 2010, 01:27 PM) Question: So they are playing MP in its entirety. Does that mean they play those and then play some random songs too? I would imagine a setlist of only MP would be too short. Also, this will be my first show! No...you can definitely bank on tons more. It is an "Evening with Rush" tour once again. The last few tours have consisted of shows that last almost 3 hours, with anywhere between 26-30 songs played. MP is only 40 minutes in length, so expect MANY more songs to come out!! Oh, and your first show?! Get ready to be blown away by their brilliance! Excellent, good to hear. I figured that was the case but wanted to double check. And yeah, I wanted to go last year but I couldn't convince anyone in my family to go. I finally got someone to commit to going with me, haha. Definately looking forward to it!
