  3. QUOTE (WhyWhySee? @ Aug 22 2010, 07:42 PM) Listen to his voice...wtf, this was this past summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u52ATDD2c0 Dude, he sounds even worse on Hangar 18 from that show. Personally, I always thought Mustaine was a shitty singer but jesus he really sucks here!
  4. QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ Aug 20 2010, 08:38 PM) Of the post-Zetro albums, Shovelhead probably has the best riffs, but Exihibit B sounds better. Rob Duke has made marginal improvements with each album, but the fact remains: he's a weak link in the band. When Souza left, the band lost a lot of its identity, uniqueness and vibe. I still buy every Exodus album, but they aint the same now. Its a shame, because TOTD was soooo freakin awesome.
  5. QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ Aug 19 2010, 12:36 AM) QUOTE (thelocator @ Aug 18 2010, 01:27 AM) I recently saw a Thrash documentary that had nothing but good to say about Dave Mustaine... The film-makers said, and I now must agree, that Dave is the best rhythm player in Thrash history... They spoke, not only about how skilled he was as a technician, but also how 'inventive' his playing was/is...how he's come up, written the rhythms for many of the best Thrash material to date... I think that maybe Scott Ian comes in a distant second, with Hetfield trailing in the pack, along with several, many other very-apt rhythm players out there. And, if anyone has temporarily forgotten how great Dave's Thrash rhythm playing could be, just plug right in to something like 'Ashes In Your Mouth' or 'Kick The Chair' if its been some time for ya. Dude, have you never heard Gary Holt from Exodus? He puts Ian or Hetfield to shame. I would say Mustaine, Holt and Dimebag are the best rhythm (all solo very well too) guitarists in 'thrash history'. Mille Petroza from Kreator deserves a nod as well. But on the Gary thing, I read an interview with Paul Bostaph a few years ago, and while he was playing with Testament at the time, he still said Gary is the best rhythm player he has ever heard--keep in mind Paul has played with Forbidden and the mighty Slayer as well. Tempo Of The Damned is one of the best metal albums in the last twenty years. Nice call with Kreator! Criminally underrated thrash band.

  8. QUOTE (In A Tidewater Surge @ Jun 4 2010, 11:45 PM) QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Jun 4 2010, 08:45 PM) So now that Justin Bieber is established, a challenger appears! Some 12-year-old kid named Cody Simpson... I saw his single on the iTunes store, and I thought it was Charlie from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I sampled one song, and I don't know how to say it, but... he makes Bieber sound like a f***ing baritone. What next, an 8-year-old boy who sounds like a dog whistle? My God that kid is terrible.. listen to his song "One" so generic.. Give it another year or two and you'll never hear this douche again. Just another manufactured "artist" aimed at making money off all the little girls out there.
  9. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Jun 3 2010, 05:26 AM) Chris Cornell should be given the title God sometime soon. As in official title. I don't know about that. After hearing some audio from the Soungarden reunion I can think of another title he deserves.
  10. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ May 31 2010, 01:10 PM) Sex and the City is basically Golden Girls in their younger days.
  11. Tuesday June 1, new album by the mighty f*ckin' Melvins!!!!!
  12. Anything by the Coen's is worth seeing. I thought the movie was great!
  13. 1- Iron Maiden "Hallowed Be Thy Name" 2- Judas Priest "Victim Of Changes 3- Slayer "Angel Of Death" 4- Saint Vitus "Born Too Late" 5- Mercyful Fate "Into The Coven" 6- Venom "Buried Alive" 7- Celtic Frost "The Unsurper" 8- Overkill "Coma" 9- Motorhead "No Class" (even though I don't really consider them a metal band) 10- Black Sabbath "Mob Rules" And a shit ton of others I can't think of right now
  14. Beneath The remains for me. R.I.P. Ronnie
  15. As usual, another fantastic Coen brothers film.
  16. How'd no one mention Pieces? Great gore and unintentionally hilarious dialog. A few more- The Burning, The Prowler, Slaughter High, The Mutilator and Slumber Party Massacre. I also agree that Black Christmas is a true f***ing classic that is sadly overlooked.
  17. QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 23 2010, 05:43 PM) QUOTE (fonzbear2000 @ Apr 23 2010, 06:29 PM) QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Apr 23 2010, 01:05 PM) QUOTE (Xanadude69 @ Apr 23 2010, 12:37 PM) YES! why go to a show when you don't know what songs the band will be playing? You wouldn't go to a movie that you didn't see previews for would you? Well...IMO, your idea about "why go to a show when you don't know what they're playing?"... Simple... Because I love all of their songs...and love the suspense of not knowing what is coming next. To me, that's the awesome part about the show. Comparing previews to the whole movie is not the same. We already have our "preview"...we know we're getting the whole MP album. In fact, to borrow your movie theory...here's a question: Would a movie be more enjoyable to watch when you already know exactly what is going to happen next from scene to scene?!!? I think I know the answer... If you know all the fun stuff beforehand, you don't get any of those weak-kneed "Ohmygod, I cannot believe they're playing THIS!" moments. I want those. Exactly! I still regret looking at the VT setlist because I would've been even more excited not knowing certain songs would be played. I learned my lesson from that , and even though it was so hard resisting temptation for S&A tour I didn't look at alland was very happy I didn't.
  18. QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ Apr 22 2010, 01:40 AM) They will open with 2112-Overture & Temples. They need to retire Dreamline, Natural Science (switch w/Jacob's Ladder), Between The Wheels (switch w/Enemy Within), One Little Victory (Ghostrider!). They shouldn't bring back Bravado, Red Sector A, Force Ten, Driven any time soon.
  19. QUOTE (Tigershark2112 @ Apr 22 2010, 01:02 AM) Nope, no reason to soil the greatness of the Holy Trinity with some lesser band. When I see Rush, its RUSH NIGHT. Absolutely!! Besides, for some reason Rush's opening bands usually suck anyways. Mr. Big, Candlebox etc. give me a f@ckin' break!
  20. I'm going with TSOR. As much as I've heard this song I still think it's a true Rush classic and a great energetic song to open a show with. I also think the Analog Kid would be agreat opener.
  21. I'm in the minority here with Nobody's Hero and Everyday Glory.
  22. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Apr 16 2010, 06:15 PM) At the risk of being a debbie downer I am kind of afraid of this show because of time restrictions. I saw Yes here a few years back and they cut some tunes from the setlist to fit the show in. They had an opening band so hopefully it won't be an issue. Anyone else thought of this? Help me to ease my mind. I don't know, I saw Alice Cooper and Cheap Trick there in '05 and both did their full sets. Alice played for over two hours, so I don't really see an issue with time.
  23. QUOTE (MainMonkeyMan @ Apr 15 2010, 09:40 AM) It was yesterday. I don't know how long its going on for or what's left. I was caught off guard as well. Here's the link and good luck! http://rush.musictoday.com/Rush/calendar.aspx Thanks for the link, but the presale is done. Oh well, from what others have said presales don't necessarily mean good tickets, so I think we still have a chance to score decent seats.
  24. QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Apr 15 2010, 05:27 AM)QUOTE (Enemy Within 77 @ Apr 14 2010, 11:02 PM) Wait, you all have tickets? I thought they don't go on sale until this saturday? We did presales. Thanks . When was the presale?
