  5. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Apr 16 2012, 08:54 PM) QUOTE (Joesaracer @ Apr 16 2012, 06:22 PM) Pardon my awful ignorance here, but does anyone know of the link in which the boys said there was going to be a suite? I've been following this album for what seems like forever, but I haven't caught wind of that idea. Any help would be appreciated. ... Alex Lifeson stops short of calling Rush's upcoming Clockwork Angels a concept record, but he does admit that a theme runs through most the songs. "We have Caravan and BU2B; both of which we released already and played on the Time Machine tour," he says, referring to the group's extensive 2010-2011 outing. "Those two, along with three other songs, form a suite. The story of Clockwork Angels is in those five tracks." http://www.rushisaband.com/blog/2011/12/13...World-interview Your awful ignorance is forgiven. Just kidding. That was in December. Judging by the tracklist though it's been expanded from 5 songs to the whole album. Fantastic. Thanks for the info.

  7. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 14 2012, 09:00 PM) QUOTE (Joesaracer @ Apr 14 2012, 06:55 PM) I tried to make the most REALISTIC setlist I could. I've made some notes on the bottom. Please bear with me I don't know how much of it will pan out (I'm still not sold on the "all of Signals" idea) but you get major props for putting some thought into the list instead of just picking your favorite obscure songs like everyone else does. Thanks for the kind words. I understand people's sentiments in regards to Signals being played/ not being played. I just hope people will realize that if they end up playing it, It will be a great experience no matter what. If they don't play it, there will be plenty of other songs that can fill up that space. It's a win-win for everyone. It shouldn't be divisive.
  8. QUOTE (Chicken hawk @ Apr 14 2012, 09:11 PM) I would approve any set list. ITS RUSH ! Dont ever stop.
  9. I tried to make the most REALISTIC setlist I could. I've made some notes on the bottom. Please bear with me -Set I- Limelight The Big Money Driven YYZ Manhattan Project Subdivisions The Analog Kid Chemistry Digital Man The Weapon New World Man Losing It Countdown -Intermission- Caravan BU2B Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Carnies Halo Effect Seven Cities of Gold The Wreckers Headlong Flight BU2B2 Wish Them Well The Garden Between the Wheels Bravado Closer to the Heart -Encore- Tom Sawyer The Spirit of Radio OK. Notes 1) I think it may be too early to have a definitive setlist because we haven't heard any of the new songs yet. It may make sense to split them up or it may make sense to keep them all together. These setlists are similar to all the mock drafts I read for the NFL Draft. There are SO many of those floating around. 2) We're all slowly finding out that the artwork that has been going around is legit. Therefore, I think Signals will be played in its entirety. 3) Two albums in one show? Sure. Pink Floyd did it in the Seventies on their Animals tour (their shows were only two hours long). While it may sound like a drag, it's Rush- we're blessed were seeing them two years before a 40th anniversary. 4) Signals makes sense for a few reasons: a) 30 years theme (R30 tour, Moving Pictures during the TMT) To those who think the band will never play an album that has nothing to do with their new album: Watch/listen to the PULSE DVD by Pink Floyd. They played a good chunk of their Division Bell stuff while playing all of Dark Side of the Moon. c) For this section, we have to assume the orchestra is part of the concert. If not, Losing It gets tossed, and the whole Signals theme might just be a 4 or 5 songs from the album. 5) To be honest, the Time Machine Tour setlist was hardly exciting IMHO compared to the S&A tour setlist. S&A was A LOT of older stuff mixed in with the S&A theme. We have to remember that the boys are supporting a new album and don't have to make this a greatest hits tour. I feel like R30 could fall into the same category as TMT because it was too similar to the VT setlist. 6) For the songs that are not on Signals and CA: a) For this section, again, we have to assume the orchestra is involved. Utilizing the orchestra for the songs an actual orchestra was present on makes more than enough sense. That's why Manhattan Project was included. c) I feel as though (and you may not agree) the band is going to play a few more synth tunes this tour, only because of 1) The bands heavier sound of recent years meshes SO WELL with the keyboard era. The mix of the two eras is literally a joyous sound to hear (Marathon on TMT was EPIC) 2) The orchestra can take care of some of the synth parts, which will please Geddy, as he can move around more; and Alex, who, yes, can move around more. d) Driven? Yes, Driven. They haven't played anything from T4E with the full band for ten years. You may not like it, but its time. e) I included Between the Wheels and Bravado because they were left off of the TMT (as Neil reported in his new DVD). f) Okay, No drum solo? I'm probably wrong with that assumption. I tried to fit as much music into 160 mintues as I could. The set rounds out to around 2 hours and 40 minutes, keeping in line with the past few tours. g) Nothing from Hemispheres and only 1 song from Permanent Waves. Geddy is 58, and will be 59 when the tour starts. Can he still sing The Trees? I'd love to hear it, but I just have a hunch we won't hear it. The boys also only took one song from PW on the R30 tour, so it's not unprecedented. h) I tried to place songs in here that are right in Geddy's wheelhouse. i) Manhattan Project will be that surprise song on the tour. Could it be Middletown Dreams, Prime Mover? Maybe, but I doubt it. I'd rather be proven wrong on this. OK, that's it!
  10. Hey! Look! A Legit Thread! I chose the "Like" option. Though I play this song often, I don't play it a lot. In fact, I like BU2B more because I think it has a better feel to it.
  11. I don't think we're going to have much of an idea if any of the songs are epic or not until we hear all of them. Even when Headlong Flight is released, we're only getting 2/3 of the song. Whether there is an epic feel to the song is probably only going to depend on hearing the full version of the song. I do admit though, each time I see the track list with the times listed, I get goosebumps looking at the number of songs above 6 or 7 minutes. When S&A's track list was revealed I was stoked to hear Armor and Sword purely based on track length and placement within the album. The anticipation will only get worse once we all hear the 5 minutes of the Headlong Flight edit. All the setlist threads going about are fun, but a bit premature, if a bit unrealistic.
  12. QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Apr 14 2012, 09:27 AM) I wonder which song this one goes with? http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/8209/cartq.jpg It goes with the song "Bring Out Your Dead"
  13. http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/images/albums/clockwork-angels-4.jpg Just saw this on Cygnus x-1.net and even though the artwork is blurred out, this looks like the artwork for The Wreckers. The shipwrecking theme makes sense because of the artwork, but who knows at this point.

It's a retarded cover. Just ridiculous. And I ain't buyin' it. It might have come from "a trusted source" but I refuse to believe that's the final art until I see it on Rush.com. The list of things wrong, or at least unprofessional, about it is pretty friggin' long. Actually, this could be the outer cover of a digipak cd box. Looks like a kind of prelude to the actual cover. You might be onto something there. Outer covers like that often only incorporate a few basic elements. I could absolutely see this being used that way... though I'm still not fully convinced if only because of the bevels on the symbols. It looks to me, and someone like trenken can probably weigh in, it looks like someone took the symbols from the Caravan artwork, overlaid them with a generic texture and applied a bevel. The problem with this is that putting a bevel on something creates a light source, indirectly. The reason the beveled side is lighter is because light is hitting it differently - but if the bevel isn't adjusted on a per-symbol basis, it looks like each one has its own light source. Instead of having a global source of light, it's like there's a little tiny light illuminating each symbol... which doesn't make much sense in this context. It might be a minor thing... but it's enough to make me think that this might not be official art to be used on a release. But I could be wrong. Those bevels just really bother me. You're being kind. The time is still wrong. The time isn't wrong. Look closely. The 9 is a trident. The hand on the clock next to the trident blends in with the trident to make it look longer. It appears as a near illusion. Correct me if I am wrong, but do classic clocks have a fancier hour hand than minute hand to ease confusion?
  15. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Apr 1 2012, 08:52 AM) QUOTE (the_necro_dancer @ Apr 1 2012, 06:31 PM) Marketing ploy? Taking the piss more like. If this was Radiohead we would have had the record weeks ago. If they were Radiohead, I wouldn't give a shit. While there should probably be never any connection between Rush and Radiohead (even though they are my two favorite bands), Radiohead has certainly taken the album release and transformed it to an artform. Radiohead finished The King of Limbs album, announced on February 11 of last year that they were releasing it on February 19. So a one week period between announcement and release. HOWEVER, they chose to release it a day early. Why? Because they can. It's their music and it was downloadable from their servers only. It's part of their brilliant mantra of "F*** the Industry." No one questions them on it, as they make more money selling album through their own site, rather than have a label promote it. Rush on the other hand, is no Radiohead insofar as fan base. Radiohead is just a much bigger band. Rush's strategy (or Roadrunner's, as far as we know) is still more modern than just a plain album release. These guys know what they're doing. Remember when Caravan and BU2B were released? It never leaked. I find it hard to believe that this will leak anytime soon (here's hoping it does, though), nor will the album. This is making Rush fans go crazy! We want to hear the music, but Roadrunner is building up hype, which makes the first listen that much better.
