  1. Certainly a good cause... My main issue with the song is the false and misleading title. The song should really move at the "speed of love" and be over in less than three seconds.
  2. I am going to read this over again a few more times as I suspect there is a well hidden compliment in it. Somewhere. "some" is better than none.... Maybe I ought to resurrect the thread he started on The Speed of Love bashing it to bits. You know. The one where I got together the modest list of resident Speed of Love lovers? Or perhaps it would just be best to just drop the whole thing and look for the hidden compliment instead? A little search revealed to me that it was actually Len who started the Speed of Love bashing thread. My apologies for falsely accusing you, Savage. Well go easy on Len...he's 13 so he doesn't need to live up to my standards of "maturity".
  3. Just curious if you have ever heard their first live album?... :) Edit: The title escapes me at the moment... :) I've heard ATWAS. It's good, but nothing really stands out to me. Anthem I guess? If you say so.... :) Now you sound like Zumbi ;) ATWAS is great for what it was but Geddy's early throaty screeching stuff can be offputting to some and for good reason. I start enjoying Rush more when he started mellowing his singing style a little and when their playing beame smoother and tighter. Rush didn't start becomong a truly great band until A Farewell to Kings IMO. I know the raw young boy ;) Geddy singing appeals to you the most but it's not for everyone.
  4. I hope so to both. Red Lenses especially. An awesome funky kickass tune.
  5. Actually there's way more content on his website: http://www.collativelearning.com/ This guy may be the Alex Jones of movie analysis but some of it is fascinating. Especially The Shining and Full Metal Jakcet stuff. very detailed.
  6. Check out some of this guys videos if you're interested in this stuff. espcially the Kubrick ones. http://www.youtube.com/user/robag88
  7. Every movie has "illuminati" symbolism
  8. Mick, what is your favorite part? Next to LaVilla, I think Alex outdid himself in this song. This may sound totally weird.....but it's that little acoustic ending.......it's Beautiful. It also proves that not every epic has to end in total bombast. Mick True, but that ending feels very awkward when played on a cd. Circumstances jumps in way too quickly after. It made more sense on vinyl when you had to switch to side 2 after that.
  9. I was mostly trying to refrain from appearing to give The Speed of Love any compliments.
  10. I am going to read this over again a few more times as I suspect there is a well hidden compliment in it. Somewhere. Good luck with that. There is very much a compliment (or two) in there. Lorraine is cool. She deserves them. How about instead of making them so hard to find, you might actually "gasp" come right out and say them? "Lorraine is cool. She deserves them." Uh. I just did that didn't I? Please don't set yourself up again. Thanks.

  12. Best Promising New Drummer in 1980?
  13. And that would be a good thing. Bring on Show Don't Tell, Chain Lightning, War Paint, Scars, Red Tide, and Available Light...and Hand Over Fist too...these all deserve heavier live arrangements.
  14. I just don't like that "holier than thou" attitude of thinking one's views on songs is objective or right. Especially when one tries to use some arbitrary opinion to somehow validate your own (like what the band may or may not like). It comes off as condescending and shitty, not to mention immature.. Just because one doesn't see the value or artistry of a song like Red Tide or Available Light doesn't mean you're right or that you have a "better" or some special esoteric point-of-view regarding music. Just like I don't see the "greatness" in The Speed of Love like a (very) few do. I have never once called The Speed of Love "garbage" and never will. I think the song is hokey and cheesy and one of the band's weakest songs (if not the flat out worst) but I'm not going to excessively put it down and act like my opinion is superior than anyone else's. I wish I could appreciate what Lorraine hears in that song, but I don't. Although I do love how much she appreciates the brilliance of The Weapon. So she does have some taste ;) Seriously, this arrogance that you have a better view of what constutes good and bad music is f*cking bullshit.
  15. "Who cares what you, me or anyone else thinks? Seriously." You apparently care what Rush thinks.
  16. "I know a stinker when I hear it and they know it when they've written one" Yes, and so do I. And I know when they've written a gem like Available Light. "People need to stop sucking their dicks and be real." I'm critical of the band when I need to be. I'm not interested in their dicks. "You can like garbage if you want but I tend to be more discerning" I have excellent taste and everything I like is awesome. Your discernment is very very off. You don't know what you're talking about. I rate your critical discernment skills 0/10
  17. Now that is some funny shit! SPACEBALLS! It's already been done:
  18. That doesn't mean you can be an ass by posting incessantly because you disagree. I can do whatever I please and that includes calling out bs when I see it.
  19. In a lot of cases it's not imaginary when they have made statements about their own material. I make interpretations of what they play in shows and what they've said in interviews about certain songs and albums as well as what I've gathered from talking to some crew members. Yes, you are making your own interpretations based on what you think the band may think about their songs and your results are fairly innacurate. That's the problem here. And the band's opinions on their own work is pretty irrelevant and doesn't affirm or validate your own opinions in any way to make them more meaningful or objective. It really doesn't matter what the band thinks. Neil likes The Speed of Love.
  20. I am done with it so everyone can relax. I agree with your point totally on individuality but in his case he has asked for help in this area and not just from me in the past. Lost cause and f**k it at this point. Sadly he just doesn't get it or chooses not too. Be yourself and I don't give a sh*t anymore. Completely out on this subject!!.... Stupid is as stupid does ;) Choosing to be stupid is a mark of individuality as well... You can just...
  21. I'd say that Grace Under Pressure and Power Windows were the pinnacle of their creativity. I think he meant thats right before they started rolling down the hill, not their pinnacle.
  22. Did you tell her about the sequencers?
  23. Yes watch Star Wars... You're never too old to rock 'n roll...
