  1. "Out of the Cradle" closes VT strongly. Love it.
  2. WILCO TOMORROW NIGHT!!! http://thelineofbestfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/wilco-paris-015.jpg
  3. For me, the tunes on S&A fall fairly easily into 3 tiers: Tier 1 - True Gems Far Cry The Main Monkey Business Hope Faithless MalNar We Hold On Tier 2 - Solid Tunes Workin' Them Angels The Larger Bowl The Way the Wind Blows Bravest Face Tier 3 - Meh. Armor and Sword Spindrift Good News First That said, it's a really good album, with no "must skips" by any means.
  4. Wilco in February. David Grisman Quintet in March. Widespread Panic (x2) in April. Rush (x2) in June.
  5. The Seeker rules faces. I really like Crossroads and Summertime Blues as well.
  6. I found much more entertainment in that than I expected to. The screams are awesome.
  7. Moe., tonight! Riviera Theater, Chicago http://farm1.static.flickr.com/172/439348205_7af7ad45ff.jpg
  8. QUOTE (third hand grace @ Jan 11 2008, 04:46 PM) I love Tom Waits. I don't think you can count him as a "singer". Doesn't his Voice fit his music? Yeah, I have some friends that are big into Waits, and you're right, "singer" might not exactly apply. I personally don't dig his stuff all that much, but I was really just talking about the "need a throat lozenge" aspect of his voice. Meanwhile, I thought of another person to add to this list overall: Carl Lewis (a la Star Spangled Banner performance.)
  9. QUOTE (Rush! @ Jan 10 2008, 08:23 PM) QUOTE (hermy @ Jan 9 2008, 09:41 AM) Janis Joplin........and Joe Cocker.......Together they should have been doing sore throat commercials I completely agree. True, but to my ears, Tom Waits is worse than both in that department.
  10. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Nov 16 2007, 06:24 PM) Please... no more Kill Bill movies... I agree. I loved the movies but you have to know when to walk away.
  11. QUOTE (tangdog @ Sep 4 2007, 02:05 PM) Do you have the source of that quote? Chicago Sun-Times, 8/27/2007 Link
  12. I'd be curious to hear the new stuff...I wouldn't expect much, but I'd be curious. Ted was just in the news recently. sounds like he's got a career as a "depends undergarments" spokes person if the music thing doesn't work out. QUOTE Facing a draft, Nugent bravely wet his pants Rocker is all talk as he calls Obama, Hillary vile names August 27, 2007 BY RICHARD ROEPER Sun-Times Columnist So Ted Nugent roams a concert stage while toting automatic weapons, calls Barack Obama "a piece of -----" and says he told Obama to suck on one of his machine-guns. He also calls Hillary Clinton a "worthless bitch" and Dianne Feinstein a "worthless whore." That Nugent, he's a man's man. He talks the talk and walks the walk, right? Except when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era. By his own admission, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment. Creative! Ah, but that was a long time ago. Nugent isn't just a washed-up rocker -- he's a right-wing madman who's not afraid to call out some of the leading Democrats in language so vile it makes the Dixie Chick Natalie Maines' comments about President Bush sound like a love poem. You'd think even someone such as Sean Hannity would dismiss Nugent as a macho clown, desperate for attention. Yeah, right. In a discussion on his show last week, Hannity refused to condemn Nugent's remarks, saying, "I like Ted Nugent . . . he's a friend of mine," and even laughing loudly as Alan Colmes read the transcript of some of Nugent's remarks. Funny. I don't remember Hannity being so cavalier about the Dixie Chicks went they criticized Bush. Not that he's operating under a double standard or anything. (Sorry for the political content, but it just happens to be the context for the really important part of this column, which is Ted Nugent soiling himself.)

  15. My fav album has to be 'Van Halen I' Start to finish it's top-shelf, and someone else mentioned, it was revalation. I also agree that 5150 is a GREAT album. A lot of good songs on there. I think OU812 is pretty damn good too. Not top 3, or 5, but damn good, IMO. My first rock show I ever saw was the OU812 tour in Milwaukee. LOVED it.
  16. LOVE it! One of my favorite shows, along w/ Arrested Development. Last night, I watched the one where he invites the sex offender over for passover seder.

  19. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jul 23 2007, 11:39 AM) He hates the Limelight and hates encounters with fans....avoids it with a passion. Whether or not, you want to call that choice D or not is up to you, but I happen to believe he has some sort of problem, whether it's a "disorder" or not is up to debate, but I've never seen anything quite like it. If this is how hwe has to behave in order to keep touring and giving us amazing performances so be it I think that's a pretty good perspective on it. Whatever works.

  22. Thanks for the poll, made step back and realize what a ridiculously incredible album it is. I went with Barchetta, tune gives me chills and has been a favorite for a long long time. Tom Sawyer was my first favorite Rush song, so that's a sentimental fav, and Camera Eye was the first choice that came to mind. But before I pressed vote I asked myself, do you REALLY like Camera Eye more than Barchetta or is it just b/c it's more rare? Hence, Barchetta.
  23. QUOTE (Frankie7 @ Jun 22 2007, 01:33 PM) QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 22 2007, 12:58 PM) QUOTE (Frankie7 @ Jun 22 2007, 11:44 AM) HYF is not my favourite album, it's not in my top 5, but it's not bad. I try to listen to as often as I can even though I only really dig 3 songs on it. Maybe it'll grow on me, just like GUP! Which 3 songs? Force Ten Time Stand Still Mission For some reason that I can't really explain, the other songs don't grab me as much. They're still good songs, but I just can't get into them, as opposed to say, all the songs from S&A. Now that's a different story. But what about High Water, Prime Mover and Turn the Page?? They all rip. I love HYF!
