The band were all having monitor issues at Monday's show... I don't know if that explains it though. Maybe Neil wasn't feeling well. He didn't look particularly happy that night.

Can you call security on security???

QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Aug 21 2010, 01:01 PM) Well honestly, in any venue anywhere, that is what happens. If the show's over, people need to leave. Why would they want to stay? We all know Rush doesn't come back out and sign autographs. I was waiting for my wife to come back from the bathroom. I don't think that I would have been mistaken for a loiterer or an autograph hound, but that's obviously not how they saw it. -

QUOTE (RUSHAMILEHIGH @ Aug 21 2010, 08:24 AM) If you act like an fool, you will be treated as such. A post in this thread said the security asked people to leave loudly after the show, That is standard and you need a Thicker skin. That was me, and I must respectfully disagree. I personally felt it was heavy-handed. -
Appreciate that, thank you

Genesis - Dancing with the Moonlit Knight Jethro Tull - Aqualung The Zappa song is Peaches en Regalia. And you are right in that it was not the original. I actually thought it might have been a recording from Zappa Plays Zappa (with Dweezil) as it sounded very recent.

My favorite shred was always BB King.... I think that one's hysterical. -

Was this Monday or Wednesday? I was at Monday's show and the security there were extremely overzealous, I thought, at least at the end. Only a couple of minutes or so after the final video wrapped up, they were yelling aggressively at people to get out. The whole show felt cursed by the end, with all the technical issues that took place and I sensed that the band was unhappy. All in all it wasn't a great way to introduce my wife to the band. I think I might travel to see them next tour, if there is one. -
Still not having any luck with registration.

I'm loving all the local press these guys are getting at the minute.

A few more pics from the Monday show (I was too broke to go to both). http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/band5.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/band6.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/band7.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/intermission.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/neil2.jpg

The headset thing is interesting. It would certainly give more creedence to the theory that everyone was having monitoring issues on Monday.

Mine go 8-10-12-14-16. The 8 is mounted to my cymbal stand via a clamp and an L-shaped mounting rod. Don't know if this picture shows it clearly enough. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Music/add8-1.jpg

I was thinking about getting one of those OP-X virtual synths. Basically it's designed to be an OB-X/OB-Xa virtual. There's a $39 one which has all the presets, but I think that's all I really need. I'm not a serious keyboard player so I don't think I need the full version of this.
-
I would absolutely use it and plan on doing so pretty much immediately.

The registration link doesn't seem to be working - just a heads up. Getting a "you don't have permission to access, please register", which is what I'm trying to do!

I have a Korg TR-61.... nice board but I can't get anything remotely close to a good Subdivisions patch on it. Any suggestions? I had a decent one on my old N364 which was basically an Oberheim clone which I'd messed around with a little bit and mixed with a patch that was called "Alaska". It wasn't a stock sound; the guy I bought the N364 from had a floppy disk full of "80s stuff" he'd programmed himself. One of these days I'm going to attempt to record the entire thing by myself.

I've learned the main riff of Fly By Night. I also recently figured out most of "Brain Damage" by Pink Floyd. Both on guitar. For someone who is a drummer first, a bass player second, and a keyboard player third, it's actually kind of a miracle I can play anything on guitar at all.

A couple of photos. Taken from Row 18, extreme stage right. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/subdivisions.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/band2.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/band1.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Rush/neil1.jpg

OK, my 14" came in, so I got rid of the old pics because they are now out of date. Now I'm in flavor country. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Music/july2010-1.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Music/july2010-2.jpg http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt313/mrose1977/Music/july2010-3.jpg

QUOTE (Test4Eco23 @ Aug 17 2010, 02:44 AM) It's kind of a cracking/popping sound he triggers with his KAT Pedal. If I had to attempt to spell the sound it would go something like "cah" (my apologies for that absurd attempt at spelling a word that doesn't exist). I think I know which sound that you are talking about... It's not the same as the "plywood" sound, is it? It almost sounds like it could be a handclap sample from an old Linn machine with a lot of reverb on it.

QUOTE (Lrigyttiw @ Aug 16 2010, 11:22 PM) When Geddy says "hey" right before Alex's solo in "Between Sun and Moon" When he says "evalate from the norm" @ 4:09 - cracks me up everytime (instead of elevate). I always thought "A tired mind become a shape-shifter" kind of sounded like it could have been "A diabetic coma changed Hitler".

QUOTE (skindzier @ Aug 17 2010, 04:33 PM) Al's - about 5 or 6 seats from the end. (seats 105 & 106, I think) Oh okay, I would have been in the exact opposite spot then (seat 6). Hey, we could have made an equaliteral triangle with Neil's head.

QUOTE (skindzier @ Aug 13 2010, 01:55 PM) They're not 3rd row, but I got my 18th row ones through the presale as soon as it went on sale. Probably about as good as you could get without getting a "package". Row 18... were you Al side or Ged side?

Yeah, there was an issue in The Camera Eye - it was right before the London part of the verse; somebody wanted to keep going with the main riff. Not sure who's fault it was, but I can actually kind of understand it because the arrangement was a bit weird; they were chopping a lot of things down and it was throwing everyone else off a bit too. Also, "Virtual Aimee" was triggered late on the first chorus of TSS.

I think they actually filmed last night's show too. Maybe they are doing both with the plan obviously being to get a comp of the two. QUOTE She arrived late, missed the sound check and generally knew who they were but was not a fan. Her son had no clue who the band was and texted all night. Oh, that's not good. As someone who tried (in vain) for several weeks to get front row or close and ultimately ended up in a lousy spot, that's not something I like to hear. QUOTE Hey I dig your avatar! Thanks - that's an actual highway junction in Wisconsin, on US 18/151 out west of Madison. All the county highways there are lettered. I lived there for awhile and always used to smirk when I drove past it.
