  1. These days, I'm just glad that they are still out on the road, kickin' it in the ass. I feel hugely lucky when I get to go see Rush. It's been an up and down trip over the years, with just a couple of bummer shows, one in the Caress of Steel tour and the other on the Presto tour. And when you think of it, how many bands can be as consistently good as Rush has been over almost 4 decades? God, I'm getting old!!!
  2. QUOTE (TheBlonde @ Oct 5 2010, 11:00 AM) I don't know that there's an age cut-off that I'd assign to how old is too old to do drugs. Next thing you know, we'll be told we're too old to see Rush.
  3. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Sep 20 2010, 06:31 AM) Either play the entire song, or don't play it at all. It's their song to do with as they please. Artistic license and all that. If you don't like it, avoid the shows, stay home, and listen to the studio albums that sound as you wish them to.
  4. I just got my Starman water bottle in the mail. I'm drinking on a higher plane now.
  5. QUOTE (Kugel @ Sep 12 2010, 10:04 AM) This tour has been my favorite vocally since he switched approaches, so probably since the Presto tour. The resonance has increased a lot and he's started to be able to get that WHILE enunciating the lyrics, which seems to be an ongoing issue. Excellent post, Kugel. Now please go get me that piece of crap in the basement - I need to turn back the clock so I can hear again all those early performances where the mics and PAs that were used by Rush were not up to the task and they coupled with small arena acoustics to produce those odd tones that burned the tiny hairs off my earlobes. I've only seen two shows from this tour and I love the body and tone Geddy is getting. I booted both shows that we saw and I've listened to them many times (while comparing to other boots and commercial live recordings). They all confirm what I heard live this tour: Geddy did miss a note here and there. On the 8/16 Red Rocks show, he had a pretty good first set but seemed to come out a little cold for the second before hitting his stride and kicking serious ass. On the 8/18 show, his voice was fresher and had more power but he wasn't perfect. But I thought - in total - that he sounded really excellent. The 8/18 show was the single best show I've seen, all things considered. And I've seen a few shows "back in the day" that were virtually perfect from the technical point of view, but they were a tad sterile, maybe too serious. So I'll take the warts I'm hearing now and gladly accept them in order to hear the body and soul and to get wrapped up in the joy.
  6. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Sep 7 2010, 09:29 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Sep 7 2010, 10:12 PM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Sep 7 2010, 08:33 PM) Nil. If they tour it's going to promote Clockwork Angels and that means lots of new songs! that could be a good thing or bad thing. so far i'm not crazy about the first 2. I am. They both came across very well when I saw Rush at PNC. The second Red Rocks show had excellent, energetic performances of both, with that "we love playing this" vibe. Caravan just flat out shook the spine.
  7. God, those two clips are hypnotic. I sat there and watched them for like 5 minutes. (Yes, long week, easily entertained)
  8. QUOTE (Alex @ Sep 1 2010, 01:21 PM) Ok so the three laws of a Rush fan: 1. A Rush fan should never disrepsect another Rush fan's space 2. A Rush fan may trade or share seats with another Rush fan ONLY as long as this action does not conflict with the first law. 3. A Rush fan should not push their way to the front if there is no seat available for them because this conflicts with the first and second law. Law 4: Violators of Laws 1 to 3 must be dealt with appropriately. Appropriate penalties include: i) Subjecting the violator to the entire Barry Manilow catalog at high volume. ii) An icepick in the forehead (is that redundant with the above ?) iii) Duct tape the offender to the back side of a cow in a pen full of bulls.
  9. I bet you 2112 bucks you can't guess my pin number!
  10. QUOTE (Ron2112 @ Aug 26 2010, 08:25 AM) So the bottom line is that everyone from the venue management up through Live Nation/Ticketmaster know about this guy and no one can do anything? Only in Colorado...... I'm going to go against the grain here and decry Red Rocks for the toilet bowl of a venue it is. This kind of crap happens ALL THE TIME there, in large part due to their ineffectual security. In my 10 years in that state I was so much happier to see concerts in MacNichols, in the arena where they belong. If I want to sit on a f-ing rock and look at red-colored boulders, I'll go to Garden of the Gods. And the acoustics at Red Rocks stink too. Peace, Ron I'm sure if you search Google, you could find instructions on how to untie your navel and get a fresh view.
  11. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Aug 26 2010, 08:41 AM) Right. There is no confirmation at this point that the woman in the pic is the OP. And we may never get that conformation. Look back to my post about the video I shot. I could see Nobodys Hero from my seat as well as the security guard to her left. (I know her as I passed the Rush Vine DVDs to her face to face) If the OPs story is real, I think it happened farther to the south (audience right, Geddy's left). That would be somewhere in the range of seats 1 to 7 maybe?
  12. QUOTE (analog guy @ Aug 24 2010, 01:28 AM) OK, so, terrible losing streak, the Gedd-man comes to town, watches two games, Cards win both. Can we hire the guy as an honorary coach? I think we got a good luck charm. The Broncos and Rockies need some Ged luck!
  13. I tend to smile so much at Rush that my face cramps the next day. After 2 shows in 3 days, I had such toned smile muscles I could lift the Gfilter with my lower lip. Seriously.
  14. Giv'em the rusty spoon treatment!
