QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 25 2010, 05:21 AM) QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 24 2010, 03:21 PM) QUOTE (powerwindows @ Apr 24 2010, 07:39 AM) QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 23 2010, 01:08 PM)QUOTE (powerwindows @ Apr 22 2010, 02:30 PM) Oh for Christ's sake......NOBODY on this forum knows anything for sure! We do know that they are playing Moving Pictures in it's entirety...two new songs (one is named Caravan) and Jacob's Ladder (according to a new interview on Rush is a band by Alex). Other than that, speculate all you want, but nobody knows what the opener will be yet. In fact, I would imagine that Rush themselves have only recently finalized the set-list to give the engineers time to start pre-production on lighting, audio, and visuals while the band works through rehearsals. Mid May should see the band get together and start running through the entire show on a semi-permamanet basis for rehearsals to work out the kinks. However, given the criteria on the question at hand......my money is on The Spirit of Radio but I am hoping for a vault type of song like Analog Kid or Afterimage followed by an even more rare gem like Kid Gloves or Chemistry. The key to the Time Machine Tour is Geddy's vocals.........I doubt we'll see Hemisphere's, Cinderella Man, Anthem, Bastille Day, or A Farewell To Kings unless they are in medley form. As much as I would LOVE to see it again, those days and tours are over (glad I got to see them back then though). Either way...it's Rush, so it will kick ass! I'm sorry but you're incorrect. What I post I do know for sure - or else I'd state that it was opinion and not fact. There could always be some tweaks to the setlist in rehearsals (recall that the R30 Overture came about late in the game) but the setlist was created about 6 weeks ago. If you are 100% sure of the opening song, as you claim, my question would be your source and whether or not you know the entire set-list? I'm not going to give sources - sorry. I think we went through this on the tour postings a month or two ago. As far as the setlist, let's say I have access to the whole thing. I know the setlist conceptually and just about everything that's going to be in there however I want to leave a few surprises for myself. Lol, of course you wont post sources, because you dont have any. This guy says he knows the setlist, but wont say how. You dont know anything and dont have any connection with the band. This happens with every single tour, these people come out trying to impress everyone with their "inside knowledge" and "connections". You're not posting the setlist because you know damn well you dont know what it is. If you really knew it there isnt a single good excuse you can come up with not to post it. Noone knows who you are, there is no way for you to get in trouble. In the entire time that rush has toured while the internet has been around, Ive never seen a single person that posted an accurate setlist prior to the tour starting. You're just looking for attention. I post my opinions on things, which I do believe im allowed to do, but you're actually lying which is pathetic. If you cant post the real set list or site sources then go away please. Wow...you really are a putz! How about you put up or shut up? Here's an offer for you: Pick any slot in the setlist (ie - fourth song of the second set) and you give me 50 to 1 and let me bet you what the song is. By all rights the odds of blindly selecting any random song in the right spot in the setlist should be about 150 to 1 since it could be anything in their catalog. Maybe 100-1 if you eliminate songs that couldn't possibly be played. So 50-1 should be easy money for you. Hell, I'll even let you make it 25 to 1. If you're so sure I have no information and no connections, why don't you take me up on my offer? It should be the easiest money you've ever made.
  2. QUOTE (powerwindows @ Apr 25 2010, 02:43 AM) Most often, the people who claim to have 'inside' information really don't...OTHERWISE....they would site their sources. If I worked for Rush or the company in charge of the tour.....I would come right out and say it. I HIGHLY doubt that anyone who works for the band has to sign a non-disclosure agreement as to the contents of the set-list. That is just ridiculous. By that logic, we are assuming that people would be less inclined to attend if they don't like what's being played. Regardless of the set-list gems.....the set-list is very predictable based on common sense. Yes, we are getting The Camera Eye and Jacob's Ladder this time around after years of fans begging for it. I really love the idea of a 'B sides tour'......as they stated would be fun to do. The fact that it has emerged as a Time Machine Tour gives me hope that some really great vault 'gems' will be pulled out and dusted off. I would think that playing some of those older 'rarely played live' songs would give the band a chance to record them live as well. I think the end state is that people get wrapped up around these things prior to the tour...and that's okay. We are all on this forum for a reason...we love Rush and are passionate about their music. Now that I am 40.....I can honestly say that they have been the soundtrack to my life. So seeing them perform any of their songs is a real treat! Except maybe Dog Years...LOL We're in agreement that most people who claim to have inside information do not. I do not work for Rush or any company affiliated with Rush or the tour - so there's nothing for me to come out and say. I am not going to post the entire setlist simply because I've given my word that I won't. Nothing more, nothing less.
  3. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Apr 24 2010, 05:58 PM) QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 23 2010, 11:39 PM) There's 1 song out of the 8 or 9 "majors" that is out of this tour's setlist as well as one song that's been played during almost every recent tour that's out as well. There really aren't 8 or 9 "major" songs that are played on every tour TSOR Tom Sawyer Limelight Subdivisions YYZ 2112 That's really about it. And even 2112 was dropped for a time in the 90's But if we count that, it's 6. Obviously, TS, YYZ, and Limelight will be played...there's no way they ever drop Spirit, so that leaves 2112 or Subdivisions maybe getting dropped. My guess would be 2112, just because Subdivisions being in the Canadain Hall of Fame and all that Aside from the 6 you mentioned, I categorize Dreamline, Freewill, & Closer to the Heart as "major" songs.

As with every other tour theyve ever done, we've never known what the exact setlist was before opening night. You're a nincompoop. I'd just add again that I'm referring to a song where you won't be debating the definition of "hit." It's one of their big songs. A time machine tour and they're going to open with a big hit ? No way man i don't believe it Seriously, not much of a prediction You post a lot like Drew2112 from counterparts Thanks for the sarcasm but it wasn't meant to be a prediction. I was posting facts. I'm sorry if they weren't exciting. Difference between me and Drew2112 is that everything I've posted over the past several months has actually happened and turned out to be true.

  10. ...so the good news is that there is a new show on the schedule now which I'm sure will be announced soon. The bad news is that it's in an area they're already spending a fair amount of time in (the northeast). It's at a venue they normally hit on their summer tours.
  11. For clarification, "hit" = HIT! ie - a song non-Rush fans know, a radio song, a concert staple. Meaning fewer than 10 of those in their catalog. Not One Little Victory, Time Stand Still or Roll The Bones type songs.
  12. A lot of posts at this one, so a few items of clarification: * Moving Pictures will be played consecutively, in order - not sprinkled throughout the set. * All the songs are in the same set * There's no drum solo during YYZ
  13. Since there's been a ton of speculation all over the board about this one: Assuming they don't call an audible in rehearsals, the Opening Song is... * A single song, not a medley or overture * Not Far Cry * A "hit"
  14. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Apr 20 2010, 03:46 PM) QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 20 2010, 03:29 PM) The important factor to measure is REVENUE. Rush typically does in the 8k range attendance-wise for shows in NC. That's on the low side by a little bit. Honestly.......the last show in Charlotte did not look that way at all. People were slow to get in there, yes, but by the start of the second set, that place was packed! Here are the details for the 2008 Charlotte show: attendance 8,997/12,517 ($399,279) Highest grossing show in 2008 was United Center at 802k. Hollywood Bowl grossed 1,074,000 in 2007. MSG was over 1M as well.
  15. The important factor to measure is REVENUE. Rush typically does in the 8k range attendance-wise for shows in NC. That's on the low side by a little bit. From a revenue perspective though they'll typically do in the 350k-400k range. That's a bit below average, but it's nowhere close to the 600k-800k-1 Million that they do in their bigger markets. In other words, any show that they do under 500k in revenue is easily expendable if they're looking to cut dates. And in this case - a short tour where a number of standard stops wouldn't get dates - eliminating cities on the lower side of the mean in both attendance and gross revenue like Charlotte & Raleigh is a pretty easy choice.
  16. QUOTE (PariahDog @ Apr 20 2010, 12:16 PM) Score Out seems pretty reliable, and he has inferred that they might be skipping Phoenix and a couple other usual stops in 2010, but will be hitting them in 2011. I think he's probably right, because the scheduling for both 2010 western legs looks pretty tight. I don't see any obvious window in either the CA/NV/CO leg or the TX leg where they could squeeze in a Phoenix show. There is a large gap before the UT show, so that might be a possibility. But I'm not taking any chances. I'm using this opportunity to get out of Phoenix in August and see Rush with my sister's family in WA. Should be pretty cool, as this will be my nephew's first big concert. As of now the only US/Canada left to be announced is Ottawa. If they decided to add anything else it would be something like NYC or a second LA show now that they moved to the smaller venue - but neither of these are on the itinerary at this point. The additional shows they've added (Red Rocks & Chicago) were both on the schedule all along - just not announced initially. Ottawa wasn't announced due to something with the entire run of shows for their festival or whatever it is not being released as of the date of the tour announcement. Places like Phoenix, Charlotte, Cleveland, Portland etc arent going to be added. I'm sure most of them will be hit on the next tour though. At the end of the day this is a smaller tour for them so naturally some normal places were unfortunately skipped over.
  17. QUOTE (BeOhBe Bob @ Apr 19 2010, 04:29 PM) stilll no blossom music center DAMN! Sorry - Ottawa is the only North American show left to be announced for 2010. I'm sure they'll hit Cleveland and most other big cities in 2011.
  18. I'd go for good seats for one night and then wait till the week of the show or else just go the parking lot and try to find ok seats for under face value for the other show. Lots of average seats given away at cheap prices come 30 minutes to showtime...
  19. QUOTE (towhee @ Apr 18 2010, 05:08 PM) QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Apr 18 2010, 03:23 PM) QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 18 2010, 12:51 PM) There is a second Red Rocks show - 2 days later. Thus, the suspicious looking 4 day gap in the schedule. It's been planned all along. 2nd night in Chicago as well. I hope you are right as they are a lot of people who needed accessible seating who ended up with nothing. I hope you're right, too! From past experience (or present knowledge) when might the second RR date be announced? I just searched for tickets and found none with the Citi presale but two in row 50 were offered (using the regular search, not Citi) just after that strike out. Maybe as soon as it sells out completely, the second date will be announced? Good luck with tickets, everyone. This is going to be an amazing tour!! Looks like it was announced late yesterday. Probably sooner than expected but done to capitalize on the momentum of Red Rocks 8/16 basically selling out on Saturday.
  20. As of now the opener is definitely a single song, not an overture or medley of any sort.
  21. There is a second Red Rocks show - 2 days later. Thus, the suspicious looking 4 day gap in the schedule. It's been planned all along. 2nd night in Chicago as well.
  22. I would use the 2007 Snakes & Arrows setlist as a model for what to expect this tour - just dropping a handful of snakes songs and adding in 2 new songs. Not the exact same songs, but same concept in that the 2007 tour had a bunch of hits, a bunch of new songs, a few 2nd tier standards, and about a half dozen songs songs that hadn't been played in 20+ years, or ever.
  23. A nice thought - but no. There's nothing "gimmicky" in the setlist aside from all of Moving Pictures. No chronological order, no concentration of songs from a certain era, nothing to the "time machine" concept in the way the setlist is constructed. Just a good, standard mix of songs with some fun stuff that hasn't been played in a while.
  24. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Apr 13 2010, 11:34 AM) QUOTE (CygXanTor @ Apr 11 2010, 11:01 PM) Mara, (and ScoreOut) I'm really not out to chase anyone off, but I've been around long enough to experience my fair share of bullshitters, rumor spreaders, and trolls. Under the circumstances, I can't help but continue to be skeptical. Cool. You're skeptical. We get it. But ScoreOut is not the only one irked by you repeating yourself every single time he posts something. I, for one, happen to enjoy reading his posts and find them plausible. Worst case scenarion, let's just say we're being led on by false information and taken hook, line and sinker......who really cares? It's just a message board. And I believe he is right when he says you are in the minority in your views. You certainly have a right to be skeptical, but continually posting the same thing, thus forcing your viewpoint on others is bit much IMO. Thanks for the support guys. Obviously if what I'm posting isn't wanted then I'll happily stop, but I don't believe that's the case. I'm a firm believer in "show me, don't tell me..." so I'd just say that what *I* would do if I was unsure of someone's credibility is look at their past posts and see how previous things they posted turned out. I suspect if anyone looks at my postings dating back to December & January with regard to the tour and the 2 year cycle then their questions should be more than answered. Again, I'm more than happy to share whatever info I can without breaking any trusts.
