  1. Verizon Wireless / Riverport Amphitheater in STL needs to update their information from the band then; they had huge signs all over stating NO CAMERAS. Of course I saw loads of the damn things and was lamenting that I did not have one. It helped that our seats weren't all that great - the pictures wouldn't have been all that good.
  2. QUOTE (Supersyl @ Sep 7 2010, 01:07 PM) Hotel California (That guitar duel between the WHITE Sg Double-neck and the strat is classic) I thought Walsh played a Telecaster for that.
  3. No worries - I was aware of him using it in '94 for that. I thought it worked very well too. However, Hemispheres is a wee bit longer - and he's 16 years older.
  4. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Sep 3 2010, 10:46 AM) They should just let Alex make all the setlists from now on anyhow, seems like he gets outvoted or something a lot. That's because Neil has 4 votes.
  5. QUOTE (dakota2112 @ Sep 3 2010, 06:44 AM) He went so far as to flat-out say that the doubleneck was going to be used for the S&A tour in a magazine interview. As I recall, that ended up not happening... Yes, but he was going to use it in a weird way with a piezo pickup installed on the 12 string neck. I think it would have been for Entre Nous, which kind of makes sense but not really. I don't think he even used it on the Hemispheres tour for the title track - could you imagine playing that thing for nearly 20 minutes straight? Yikes.
  6. 104 mph doesn't mean squat if it's not in the strikezone. Just ask Joel Zumaya during the 2006 WS. Also, it's not likely 104mph if the game is on Fox. Again we lose last night to one of the worst teams in MLB. On paper this team should be winning the division by 10 games or more. They discussed this morning that when they are losing in the 7th inning they are 4-41. Very frustrating.
  7. Does RR use scanners at the venue? I know here in STL once your ticket is scanned, that barcode is rendered useless. I think they use that technology to keep people from leaving / re-entering.
  8. QUOTE (SalukiRushFan @ Aug 25 2010, 07:02 AM) He needs to take a side trip to Pittsburgh. Good lord that game was frustrating last night.
  9. QUOTE (mystic @ Aug 23 2010, 06:35 PM) Loved Geddys comment about the pigeons, but that's kinda sad that they think of St. Louis as the "pigeon shit" ampitheater They don't think of the venue as that - it's related to the Kings of Leon show where they walked off after three songs because they said they were getting dumped on by pigeons. That venue is one of the absolute worst to get in / out of I've ever seen...ugh!
  10. I wondered if he would get to a game or two while here. Sunday's was a really good one - Garcia was lights out.
  11. That's what they were throwing in the sausage grinder! Dead pigeons!
  12. I was there last night - and it sounded like Alex toned down the guitar finally. It was not muddy sounding at all - he even brought out what looked like a PRS to play Time Stand Still. Looked like they're still working on getting The Camera Eye the way they want it...as much as I like that song it's clear that it's very tough to play parts of that live. Alex flat out DESTROYED it during Working Man. Holy shit. "This is where they had the bird incident, huh?"
  13. Congratulations! Have a great time!
  14. QUOTE (mmclarney @ Jul 27 2010, 09:13 AM) QUOTE (analog guy @ Jul 23 2010, 10:41 PM) Was hoping to see the double-necks. Doesn't sound like they make an appearance this time. Nope, not unless they suddenly swap Xanadu or Passage to Bangkok into the setlist. Those are the only two songs they've ever used the double-necks for. Alex also used it for Hemispheres - Prelude on the Counterparts tour because it was right after Xanadu. It worked well.
  15. QUOTE (Solitudeix @ Jul 22 2010, 04:43 PM) And I use super light picks too... and strings that go from .70 - .14 (guitar). WOW. And I was thinking of switching to medium gauge to try them out. What are those? Super Heavy?
  16. QUOTE (bigalfan @ Jul 22 2010, 12:32 PM) Know how to make tinnitus go away? Ignore it. I wish it were that easy.
  17. I live in the area - and while getting in there is not a problem, leaving is HORRIBLE. I've been to several concerts there; just an additional exit from the parking lot would make a world of difference. Beers are stupid expensive and so is the food...but these days I pretty much try to avoid getting anything to eat / drink so I don't have to hit the can during the show. Odds are good that it's going to be a very warm and sticky night weather wise.
  18. QUOTE (red sector animal @ Jul 1 2010, 09:31 PM) Hour break for soup and salads But what if I want the shrimp cocktail? It might be warm weather - soup just might not sound good. Wait - could it be gazpacho?
  19. Not to mention the encore makes a helluva lot more sense. Everyone knows they've avoided CTTH for a long time.
  20. Now THAT would be interesting! It just keeps building!
  21. Let's also not forget the possibility that The Camera Eye could be truncated and or changed up according to Alex.
  22. QUOTE (CJSage @ Jun 29 2010, 10:25 AM) Disappointing from my perspective. Is it a setlist or a marketing strategy? No, not at all. Coming Soon: Time Machine Tour Live CD / DVD set - buy 'em up! I'm glad my tickets were free because I am not overly thrilled with this set list. I doubt it's a rumor. AFTK is something I've wanted to see for 20+ years. I've seen Anthem when they shoved it into a medley on the RTB tour.
  23. The band is tucked away in a secret location, going over their tour gear, before heading to the tour opener in New Mexico. AL: "Gibson Les Pauls - Black, Tobaccoburst, GoldTop, and Flametop. Check. 1976 Gibson ES-335, Gibson ES-355 Signature Model, Gibson EDS-1275, Fender Stratocaster (mutters - where did this come from? Why does it have a sticker on it that says 'Limelight'?). Check. 2 acoustic guitars, acoustic guitar stand, H & K amps. Check. Barbie Dolls, clothes, past two issues of Barely Legal. Check. 2 cases of Rogaine, 1 case of Tums, 1 case of Preparation H, 2 cases of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Check. Hey - that last list of stuff has the number 2112 in it." NP: "Drumkit. Check. 2 cases of Macallan. Check. New motorcycle, GPS, fake ids, credit cards. Check. Damn, these all say John Ellwood Taylor. All the diehards have read my books by now and will know that name. Better swap these out for the ones that say Dick Fitzwell. Wait - did you say 2112? We all agreed to not play that anymore." GL: (shows up with one gig bag with his Fender Jazz bass and a duffel bag of clothes) "Alex, what the hell is all that crap? Just because we said 'Time Machine Tour' doesn't mean we have to have as much stuff as we packed back in 1981. Doubleneck? Do you remember what happened last time? We stopped at some place in Louisiana for dinner - when you tore into the solo for Xanadu those pants were ruined forever." AL: "So it's my fault that cajun cuisine doesn't agree with me? It's not like I'm 25 anymore. (looking at tourdates) St. Louis in August? Oh no - I thought I was going to drown in my own sweat there when we played there on the Snakes & Arrows tour. Better pack some Gatorade." AL: (looking over Ged's stuff) "Um - is this - a teleprompter?" GL: "Damn right it is. You really think I want to commit the lyrics to The Camera Eye to memory? I've already woke up in cold sweats several nights in a row after rehearsals of it. I had to make an appointment with a hypnotherapist for after the tour to purge any memory of playing it." NP: (thinking to himself) "hmm - is 2 cases of Macallan going to be enough? I better put something in our contract rider. Make the promoter pay for some." AL: "Where are my golf clubs? I swore I brought them." GL: "Those take up too much room so I had them shipped back to your house. I need space for the BBQ shack I'm going to have on stage. I figured at particular parts of the show when Neil is soloing I can throw racks of ribs out to the audience. I still haven't settled on a good coleslaw recipe though. Should I have sweet tea in the fridge for our southern dates?" AL: "Ribs? Where? Can you mix it up a bit? Maybe some brisket and chickens too? I'd love to take a snack break during Neil's 27 minute solo." NP: "27 minutes? Who said you're making the decision to cut it back? Remember, I get 4 votes here."
  24. Better yet, given that it is The Time Machine Tour, use a local personality to introduce them like on the "All The World's A Stage Tour" album. Then have Alex tear into Anthem.
