  2. Camel must be the most underrated band ever. Right up there with Floyd, Genesis, Rush and Yes. Prog rock gods. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhWDbdS-vjg
  3. It's like a night and day. Eddie might be the best rock guitarist ever but I've never heard anything interesting coming out of his cakehole. Reading his interviews is about as inspiring as reading a phone book. Neil is an intelligent, interesting man who has a lot of wise words to say about many things in life.
  4. Damn... I tried to search but couldn't find that thread. Perhaps these threads could be merged by a moderator?
  5. Eddie's only friend is Alex. Not the best one, but the only one. He's a great guitar player, maybe the greatest. But not very intelligent human being, obviously. His interviews are boring and stupid these days. I read the last one where he said that "he hasn't listened to any music in years". Not defending Sammy... he's a cokehead no doubt... but I sympathize him a lot. VH would be much better with Sammy and Michael now... DLR is a joke who has lost his voice completely (he didn't have much to begin with)....and in his current form he has a stage charisma of a beached whale... at least Sammy can still sing.
  6. I like S&A too. But I always have a feeling "What if..." when I listen to it. It has potential but the end result is not that great. Working them Angels and Armor & Sword are pretty good. But there are too few good melodies and too few "nyances" in S&A. A lot of oppressive, disturbing "hard songs"... like Spindrift... don't like it. But what difference it was when Rush introduced strings/synths back in CA. That large Rush sound, that huge "sound wall", emotion and melodies in songs like The Garden and The Wreckers, etc. Huge difference. HUGE.
  7. I've seen them four times in Europe. R30, Snakes & Arrows tour, TIme Machine and finally Clockwork Angels tour, which is difficult to top anyway. Yeah... bummed but what can you do. Look at the bright side.... at least I've seen the best rock band ever live four times. I'm in my 30's so I guess I'm a bit fortunate. My son will probably envy my Rush concert experiences the same way I envied my dad's Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin gigs.
  8. Avery Molek, the 7-year old kid,.plays YYZ here: It's not perfect but pretty good. Avery's comment: "This is a crazy hard song to play, Neils drumming is so amazing! Rush is now one of my favorite bands!"
  9. Indeed it is. But the topic was "gooad and bad" Rush covers. I just HAD to share. The comments in Youtube are priceless. :D
  10. Here's Nelly Furtado's infamous Time Stand Still. [media[ [/media]
  11. I tried to search and I didn't find one single topic for Rush cover versions. So it's about time to open one. I'll start. Here's a 7-year old kid, Avery Molek, drumming Tom Sawyer. Love it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR_x_vrSZBM
  12. None. Rush have very few bad songs and none of their "most famous" songs are bad. But for people who like to listen to a lot of bootlegs, some songs are just overplayed, like Closer to the Heart and Tom Sawyer. Both are still amazing songs, I just don't listen to them anymore.
  13. How come Rush's FB page has lost so many likes in just one week or two? It had 2.983.000 likes (I was waiting for it to reach 3 Million) and now it has gone down to 2.872.000 and is going down all the time. What's going on? https://www.facebook...?ref=ts&fref=ts
  14. The list might suck.... no Steve Howe... no Andy Latimer... no Robert Fripp.... but it had HALF A MILLION VOTERS. I guess that counts for something. Eat that.
  15. Lifeson ranked #3 in Guitar World's Readers' Poll. Half a million votes. But I guess that counts for nothing compared to when ONE Rolling Stone wanker editor makes his own list, huh? http://b1027.com/edd...ackback=tsmclip 1. Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen) 2. Brian May (Queen) 3. Alex Lifeson (Rush) 4. Jimi Hendrix 5. Joe Satriani 6. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) 7. Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) 8. Steve Ray Vaughan 9. Joe Bonamassa 49. Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom) 50. Dave Murray (Iron Maiden)
  16. A Show of Hands really did it for me. I thought nothing could ever surpass Zep and Floyd bur ASOH album really blew my mind. It still does. Then I discovered the back catalog.
  17. I don't know about the US, but here in Europe people always complain that "prices have gone up 50% since 1996". Yeah well... but their nominal wages have gone up AT LEAST 70% since 1996. For some weird reason they never remember that.
  18. How is Toto underrated? Toto has 8-10 very good songs and albums full of boring, mundane crap. I'd rather go to a dentist than listen to Hydra or Fahrenheit, for example. :D "Endless" is very underrated song though. It kicks ass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ntu5GumlKqU
  19. Good reminder. I haven't listened to Maiden in ages. I actually forgot AC/DC:s Big Jack. That's the only decent tune from Black Ice and perfect training music. PS: Is that Joe Esposito guy one of the Elvis' Memphis Mafia? :D That song falls into the Rocky soundtrack category though. I can almost hear "YO ADRIAN!" from the background...
  20. I'm bored and I want to win the "Most useless thread" award of the week. :D But nevertheless: I have this CD in my gym. I use it to "psych" mysef to better results. I've done my best lifts ever with powerful shit like this playing in the background. 1. Van Halen: Judgement Day 2. AC/DC: Moneytalks 3. AC/DC: Thunderstruck 4. Led Zeppelin: Wearing and Tearing 5. Pink Floyd: One of these days 6. Rush: Something for Nothing 7. Van Halen: She's The Woman 8. Roger Waters: Bravery of Being Out of Range 9. Bad Company: Rock of America 10.Genesis: Home By The Sea/Second Home by the Sea 11.Porcupine Tree: Anesthetize Opeth works too. What are your "motivational" tunes?
  21. Such a beautiful song. if this really is it, and Clockwork Angels was the last album, it's a great way to go. The Garden is the perfect end to a perfect career. I really hope I'm wrong about all this, but there's a good chance that this is goodbye, and I love The Garden so much more because of the circumstance—without question a top-ten if this is the end. The Garden is a top-10 Rush song. That kind of emotion was missing from their albums for a long time. When the strings reappeared in CA we got the best Rush back.
  22. I'm probably in the minority but I actually want them to go when they're still on top of their game. Geddy's voice is not the same anymore and Neil can't play with that kind of intensity when's he's 70 or 75. Rush isn't the Stones or the Eagles... it's very demanding music to play. Of course it'll be sad but everything comes to an end eventually. It's been one hell of a run, they have NOTHING to prove and the band has cemented its position in rock'n'roll history forever.
  23. Where the hell is Europe? I don't mean that gay band... I mean European tour dates!!!!!!!
  24. Snakes & Arrows is not a bad album but there are no melodies, nyances and "touching moments". It's repetitive and heavy and all songs are just the same musical meatloaf. It suffers from the same "feel" as Vapor Trails. Clockwork Angels is a HUGE improvement. Actually it's amazing how much better CA is... now that is a FANTASTIC album. CA brought back the melodies, keyboards/strings and I love it.
