  1. Sound logic, and as it happens, the way it actually was. One would think the difference was apparent, yes. :)
  2. That happened a lot back then. If a band had long hair and a guitarist quick with his fingers, they were put on magazine covers alongside Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. But a lazy magazine editor doesn't make a thing so. :) Earth to Planet Bard...practically everyone (apart from you) referred to Rush as Heavy Metal in the 70s. That's a fact. You are either trolling or a muppet. Either way you are a fuckwit. Name calling is the last refuge of the addled. :) You might as well call Rush disco. Bag, meet rocks.
  3. hair metal at best. :) i judge hair metal pretty harshly. :) because it deserves it. :) I'm not the one who wrote Every Rose Has its Thorn, Girls Girls Girls, or Livin' on a Prayer, so it's on them, not me. ;)
  4. They were still there on mass during the Hold Your Fire Tour and while their numbers dwindled throughout the years some were there for R40. RUSH has metal roots. They chose to evolve. Aw, you're a lightweight then. Pantera crowds would eat you for breakfast. BTW, equating Rush to the genre where Metallica, Sabbath, and Anthraxx reign is kinda like masturbating with a cheese grater. It can be done. But why. Certainly early Sabbath. Black Sabbath sucks but that is another subject. Metallica and Anthraxx ushered in a new sub genre of Heavy Metal called Thrash but you knew that already. Heavy Metal is a broder music genre than you describe...Bon Jovi for Fcuk Sake. No, Bon Jovi isn't metal. Bon Jovi is pop rock. Bands like Poison, the Crue, Night Ranger - hair metal, or glam metal. True heavy metal - before it got split into sub genres...was a small faction indeed. Sabbath. Priest. Maiden. DP. People have a hard time identifying the differences between metal and hard rock. But there is one. They do often overlap, no doubt. It depends on the band, and what art tone they're emulating.

BTW, equating Rush to the genre where Metallica, Sabbath, and Anthraxx reign is kinda like masturbating with a cheese grater. It can be done. But why. Or the Scorpions or UFO, or AC/DC or Uriah Heap. Slaughter or Cinderella. Purp or the Zep. Hmmmmmm. Haha. If Zep or AC/DC are metal, then Rush might as well be disco and New Wave. :) Get with the program, Dad. I'll maintain what I said earlier, yesterday or the day before, I don't know- the heavy elements of Rush's early music were somewhat metal (Alex's amazing shredding during The Necromancer is a case in point. In fact, that may be the only example I might cite). But I don't think that they wanted to be, nor did they consider themselves, a metal band. And by 2112 and beyond, they were definitely something else entirely. Not metal. Metal does not equate to axe crunch tone nor speed. Though many people think that it does.
  7. Nothing like a good LOL, now, is there? Truly. :) I had a good LOL earlier when I first saw a TRF thread extolling Rush's devilish hardcore metal tones. :) Good! Where have you been, what have you been up to? Same old stuff, man. Work, play, family. You know. And yourself? I see the main forum is littered with threads condemning Neil for his evil decision to retire, and also who's going to replace him. Sigh. :)

  11. Geez. Not even one of Rush's songs are metal. For f**k's sake. Yes. I already raised the question what is metal? Its analogus to he question "what is jazz"? There are multiple ways to define it. Each Person has their own definition. No, Rush is by no means a Metal band but they do have songs that are very metallic and heavy in their construct. Heavy riffs, dark lyrical concepts, challenging musical constructs. Pretty metal if hou ask me. Don't even try arguing with Bard. He's right as he always is. On the 3rd day, Bard created Rush. On the 4th, Bard created metal. Given that, Rush couldn't possibly be metal. Besides, Bard already said "geez" and "for f**k's sake" which trump any argument made. Geez. For f**k's sake. Oh hey. BTW. Know what else I was right about? That Neil was retiring. :) I see tons of metal heads moshing at Rush shows. Leather studs, headbangin', the whole nine yards. Oh wait...I don't at all. :) Empty vessels make most noise. How about you turn it down to somewhere between 0 & 1? BTW,...you were wrong about Neil. Surprise. :) I was wrong about Neil? Care to elaborate? Shh. Dial it down a notch. Between 0-1.

Somebody take this guy's Rush card away, please.

    New Neil update

LOL. Geez. It's okay for musicians to retire before they drop dead. Honest. Some of you kids need a reality check. When you're of age and have tendonitis from forty years of an extremely physical career, and are expected to soldier through a world tour nonetheless...let us know how you fare.
  18. Uh...so Alex stating it outright isn't proof enough for you. Mkay. Back to your hole, kidstuff.
  19. That's because you clearly don't understand the toll of aging, after a 40 year career of a highly physical sort. But you will someday. What Alex said is nothing new. If you saw the Forum show last year, you saw the last Rush show.
  20. It's not. Just fanboys wanting someone or something to blame. I wonder what conspiracy theories would've risen had all three announced simultaneous retirement. :)
  21. Does anybody have an extra one of these I could procure from their generous selves? I'm happy to pay whatever you deem fair. Went to the Forum show with my son, would really like a copy of one of these from either the show itself or the Backstage Club artist proof. Please direct message me or reply here if you're willing and able to help me out. Much obliged in advance for anyone who can help out.
  22. God doesn't 'take people away' to give people lessons. Shit happens. It's a fragile physical existence.
  23. Yeah, because you talk to them every day, and you are the one they chose to tell their future plans. Yours is an opinion and prediction like the rest of us. No one knows their future plans except for the two of them. That's all we know as being fact. Haha, I definitely know for sure they will not tour as Rush without Neil. It's not an opinion. It's a fact. :)
