QUOTE (Scottishdood @ Jul 8 2012, 05:16 PM) Personally I think it's shit..and all u ooh you can't say it's that and and can't say it's this and who hasn't ripped off sabbath or purple merchants should just grow some and say its crap! Sick of people sittin on the fence!! And how the feck is it a glimpse of what Rush would have sounded like if they were different?? Does that mean Depeche Mode may have sounded like Rush at some point! Stop talkin bollox n here people..don't get your heads too far up your own arses! Haha! Solid rant! Here here!
  2. QUOTE (Gompers @ Jul 4 2012, 08:17 PM) Link Listen to the song "We Pay the Price". I didn't find credits, but I think this is a big ripoff. These are some pretty amusing / terrible songs. Obviously slathered in Rush references as we've been discussing, but the opening to this track is definite "Between Sun & Moon" also.
  3. QUOTE (hermy @ Jul 9 2012, 03:17 PM) This about sums it up: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/avplanners/orch_final.jpg
  4. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 9 2012, 02:45 PM) QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jul 9 2012, 12:46 PM) http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s294/Godeater2112/rushmetal-1.png tell me she's going to be in the orchestra. She's the cello player I do believe!
  5. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 9 2012, 01:58 PM) QUOTE (BriGuy @ Jul 5 2012, 09:30 PM) A band I'd consider heavy metal is Disturbed. Then you clearly have no clue what Heavy Metal is Hahaha, exactly what I was thinking. Like if you are going to cite a band like "Korn" as "metal" you really aren't setting up your case very well!

  7. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 9 2012, 09:15 AM) Shame this guy is still in jail. All anyone has to do is watch the clip on You-Tube to know he did nothing wrong. Nice country I love the way they ambushed him. Never brought any initial charges just waited until they eventually came back to the country and *WHAM* gotcha at the airport f**ker! Goes without saying they'll never play that POS country again, too bad for the fans. This is a terrible string of luck I am on. Was supposed to see The Offspring at a festival this week, they cancelled without reason. Going to see a metal festival first week of August and so far: - Lamb of God is not looking promising thanks to this bullshit - High on Fire (who I really wanted to see) cancelled because the lead singer is in rehab - IWRESTLEDABEARONCE looks like their lead singer is preggers, so they are looking at replacing her with some other random singer for the interim. They say things happen in threes, I am already up to four! Frig! At least Maiden showed up on Caturday.
  8. I'm off to see my show in Ottawa tonight. I've seen them several times and ALWAYS enjoy such a great show but I must admit I am especially pumped up for tonight based on all of your rave reviews for this tour.
  9. QUOTE (MainMonkeyBusiness @ Jul 6 2012, 12:38 PM) I don't need hypnosis I just wait until she's asleep LOL No silly, I meant to hypnotize her to like Rush not to be dirty in bed! Geez...
  10. My current wife, girlfriend at the time HATED Rush, I mean just LOATHED it... but she was an exceptionally sweet person... packed a terrific arse and all that... Wouldn't have brought this up had this topic not come up but... this link might help you guys out a LOT, just skip step #1: link
  11. First off I would never try to 'force' my wife into liking something just because I enjoy it. Nothing wrong with different tastes etc. That being said, unless she was joking around, it doesn't sound to me like your wife is very respectful of the things you enjoy. How would she feel if she was watching her favorite TV show or something and you asked her "How you you stand watching this crap?" Same sort of respect-disconnect?
  12. All three of those other (amazing) songs added together don't even touch the majesty of The Garden. Cool poll!
  13. When has Rush ever f**ked up elements of their live shows? This is going to absolutely KICK ASS!
  14. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jul 4 2012, 05:08 PM) Isn't this like having a I love Madonna's Arse thread on a Madonna forum... It does make more sense however than let's say in a Bon Jovi forum for a member to say Johhny's vocals now suck, and to record themselves singing the vocals 'better' and posting them on the forum and expecting a positive reaction!
  15. Panel 3, bottom right. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s294/Godeater2112/IMG_0517.jpg
  16. For Snakes and Arrows, outside of the instrumentals and a couple of other tracks, overall I didn't like it much at all. Clockwork Angels?! I absolutely love it, my favorite new album since becoming a fan! We got a few heavy, sharp, terrific songs in the likes of Headlong Flight and Caravan, where I admittedly like the album versions far more than the original singles... We have some really earnest, simple heartfelt songs like Halo Effect which is just such a wonderful throwback type song and then THE GARDEN which is an absolute masterpiece, it might be the most emotionally intense song I have ever heard by any band and I have terribly diverse taste in music... In between we have some brilliant punchy rock songs such as the title track, The Anarchist and BU2B that are really great fresh sounding high energy tracks, very ambient in many respects and so quintessentially Rush. Some other tracks here haven't grown on me quite as much yet but it's still early. Yet it is still very evident that there is nothing close to a bad track on this album, something I wouldn't say has occurred since Hold Your Fire. At this stage of their career I am amazed they managed something so sublime, so fresh, so high energy, interlaced by a really interesting concept and still be such fantastic typical Rush! Very very happy with this album, exceeded all my expectations and I can't wait to see a lot of it live!
  17. Happy birthday bro! If they ever remake that "Born on the 4th of July" movie I hope they give you a cameo!
  18. QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 3 2012, 04:52 PM) Still pissed I can sing old Rush I heard your clip and it sounded like a bag of ASS. Express you opinion of Geddy's voice all you want but get off your high horse and stop considering yourself a vocal expert just because you were brave / delusional to record yourself.
  19. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Jul 3 2012, 10:18 AM) We laugh, then he pointed to me and said "and there's the only Skeletonwitch shirt at the show." Does Skeletonwitch have SHIRTS now with the new album artwork on them? When I saw them last winter they didn't have any new shirts yet. I was heartbroken, love the design and love the new album. http://www.webofmetal.com/images/products/forever-abomination-skeletonwitch/forever-abomination-skeletonwitch.jpg
  20. QUOTE (jc4gd @ Jul 2 2012, 09:09 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jul 1 2012, 09:07 PM)QUOTE (BriGuy @ Jul 1 2012, 11:04 PM) There may be metal fans who find elements of their music in some of Rush's work, in particular their earlier stuff, but that doesn't make Rush metal. There's too much Rush material that isn't anywhere near "metal" at all. And that's where the metal fans slip away. Rock, hard rock, prog rock... but not metal. It's METAL! It's not, it's Prog Rock............okay so what other bands do you consider "heavy metal"? No. It's prog metal. Here are some examples of metal bands: Gorgoroth, Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Queensryche, Nuclear Assault, Black Sabbath, Venom, Iced Earth, Cradle of Filth, Red Fang.
  21. QUOTE (bluefox4000 @ Jul 2 2012, 10:18 PM) POW metal? HYF Metal? Presto Metal? Signals Metal? Really now? !Just sayin' Mick Pretty easy to list non-metal stuff. If you were arguing The Scorpions I'm sure you would have mentioned "Holiday". Now go listen to "Natural Science" and adjust that attitude mister!
  22. QUOTE (Fly By Night fan @ Jul 2 2012, 10:11 AM) http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m93/melissa2_04/552423_10151228343352542_678887365_n.jpg Awesome photo!
  23. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Jul 1 2012, 03:01 PM) http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy51/Hatchetaxe1/IMG_20120701_120349.jpg Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio. A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath borne me on his back a thousand times. And now how abhorred in my imagination it is! My gorge rises at it. Here hung those lips that I have kiss'd I know not how oft. Where be your gibes now? Your gambols? Your songs? Your flashes of merriment that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own grinning? Quite chap- fall'n? Now get you to my lady's chamber, and tell her, let her paint an inch thick, to this favour she must come. Make her laugh at that. Or, me and the kids messing around with cameras and foam hallowe'en skulls. Great shot and Yorick is the first thing that came to mind, was going to post something to that effect but noticed you already did!
  24. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jul 2 2012, 02:06 AM) http://i.imgur.com/ODPA7.jpg Great picture! Dressed in Kingly guise!
  25. Just picked up my Maiden tickets for this coming Saturday in Ottawa. Can't wait!
