I'll look into it. I've searched wiki and imdb but it keeps getting redirected to 'The Emperors New Groove'? I'm sorry! It's 'Empire of the Sun'. My bad. Here you go: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092965/ That was a really good movie. The music was amazing, to say the least. The scene with the P-51 Mustang pilot waving to the boy is just incredible. Yes it surely is! "P-51 Mustang! Cadillac of the sky!"

Remember the videogame "Cliff Hangers," how they used the animation from this movie? I've heard of it, but never seen or played it. It was one of those laserdisc games like Dragon's Lair, right? Those were amazing back in the day. Yep, a laserdisc game similar to "Dragon's Lair." Dragon's Lair was an awesome game!!!

That would be a good idea. My list, which is even longer than Goob's, took me almost an hour to compile. Which is exactly why I shy away from compiling a comprehensive list of my favorites! Who has that kind of time? Apparently GR does... Hey, it was a Friday at 4 PM. None of us work that last hour. You work for the state government, right...its more like none of you work that last day!!!
  5. QUOTE (D'Artagnan @ Mar 19 2008, 02:57 PM) Sorry to interrupt the love-fest, by the way. If it is several users agreeing on something, then it must be true, there is no such thing as a "group of idiots". You have officially reached stage three of the "annoying poster" progression.

  9. QUOTE (D'Artagnan @ Mar 19 2008, 09:51 AM) QUOTE (LoneStar Boogie @ Mar 19 2008, 09:40 AM) You appear to need a crash course in prudence and discretion. But somehow I get the feeling you get off on joining message boards just to stir the shit right away. You come in swinging a sledgehammer and pretend to wonder why people get after you. http://www.fulana.org/images/if-you-fear-something_full.jpg I'm done with you, troll.
  10. QUOTE (D'Artagnan @ Mar 19 2008, 09:36 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Mar 19 2008, 09:29 AM) QUOTE (D'Artagnan @ Mar 19 2008, 10:13 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Mar 19 2008, 08:08 AM) Well I've heard enough to know I won't ever see this movie. Thanks to Test and Storm for your (as always) valuable opinions. D'artagnan, you should really relax. Disagreement does not equal personal attack. Try decaf. Your friend was the one who "equated disagreement with personal attack"; read the exchange again. Not that I am trying to get in the way of your internet romance with the aforementioned users, but I wanted to clarify this. Sorry, but I cannot see how belittling one of cinema's most rare gems is considered a valuable opinion. I would value Scorcese's (an avid fan of Salo) over Joe Nobody's any time of the day. Dude, were you born a dick or did you have to study? I'm sorry, I'm just trying to help you out and you accuse me of having an 'internet romance' with a couple of other posters. Good Lord! That's not exactly how you win friends and influence people and the fact that you attempt to put all the blame for your being an ass on another poster really makes me question your maturity level. I said this the nice way now I'm going to say it the not-so-nice way: watch yourself and cut back on the nasty attitude or you're going to get yourself into trouble. If you're into watching kids being raped and tortured in a movie then that's your business. Just don't expect everyone else to share your...preferences. Jack, you should really relax. Disagreement does not equal personal attack. Try decaf. You appear to need a crash course in prudence and discretion. But somehow I get the feeling you get off on joining message boards just to stir the shit right away. You come in swinging a sledgehammer and pretend to wonder why people get after you.
  11. What is the deal with these uppity newbies the last couple of days? Would you folks please chill and get to know this forum before you start mixing it up?
  12. QUOTE (Grandtheftcow)Another "suggestion" I go back where I came from. Maybe I should have the custom title of filthy foreigner. wink.gif That can be arranged, if you ask real nice.
  13. QUOTE (RushRevisited @ Sep 2 2006, 12:15 AM) QUOTE (The Rocinante @ Sep 2 2006, 01:14 AM) QUOTE (RushRevisited @ Aug 7 2006, 05:51 AM) http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0608/sunprom_soho.jpg Explanation: Our Sun is still very active. In the year 2000, our Sun went though Solar Maximum, the time in its 11-year cycle where the most sunspots and explosive activities occur. Sunspots, the Solar Cycle, and solar prominences are all caused by the Sun's changing magnetic field. Pictured above is a solar prominence that erupted in 2002 July, throwing electrons and ions out into the Solar System. The above image was taken in the ultraviolet light emitted by a specific type of ionized helium, a common element on the Sun. Particularly hot areas appear in white, while relatively cool areas appear in red. Our Sun should gradually quiet down until Solar Minimum occurs, and the Sun is most quiet. No one can precisely predict when Solar Minimum will occur, although some signs indicate that it has started already! that's scary as hell Isn't it though? Clearly the Sun is a threat to our way of life, and it must be stopped!
  14. QUOTE (RushRevisited @ Apr 13 2005, 03:20 PM) http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0504/earthmars_alves.jpg Explanation: Which image is Earth, and which is Mars? One of the above images was taken by the robot Spirit rover currently climbing Husband Hill on Mars. The other image was taken by a human across the desert south of Morocco on Earth. Both images show vast plains covered with rocks and sand. Neither shows water or obvious signs of life. Each planet has a surface so complex that any one image does not do that planet justice. Understanding either one, it turns out, helps understand the other. Does the one on the left look like home? Possibly not, but it is Earth. The key to this picture, for me, is that the the sky in the distance on the left picture appears to be hazy, while in the right picture, Mars, the sky is relatively clear. I do not know that you would get a hazy picture on Mars, what with the thin atmosphere and all. Just a thought.
  15. QUOTE I still contend that the preemptive announcement made by Jack is unnecessary and such efforts only serve to kill threads rather than promote discussion of the subject. Why not wait till an issue actually arises? You need to give Jack the benefit of the doubt here. Perhaps he's seen this happen before, perhaps many times, and so he is doing the responsible thing in setting the tone preemptively. Please, take some time to get the feel for the ebb and flow of this forum before making judgments about the moderators and/or admins.
  16. Now, to get back on topic, while I have not seen this movie, I believe I've seen clips, and definitely a news story or two about this place. I think I'd be interested in seeing the movie, though I get the feeling I might come away a bit disturbed.
  17. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Mar 17 2008, 10:06 PM) To clarify OF's post, I believe the process for joining the political forum is to first make at least 100 posts with your account, then private message one of the admins (1-0-0-1, RushRevisited, or GhostGirl) asking them to grant you access. Have fun... it becomes quite the hellhole from time to time. You also have to be a member for 1 month (or 30 days.)
  18. QUOTE (Grandtheftcow @ Mar 17 2008, 06:57 PM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Mar 16 2008, 05:26 PM)Please, folks. No religion bashing, OK? Any disagreement with fundamentalist Christians more often than not is seen as an attack upon them and their faith. Personally I'd rather not have a net nanny moderator treat the lowly posting peons as children. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman)What is it about? Is it a movie or a documentary? It's a documentary that follows a few children before and during their participation in a religious camp that teaches them how to spread Protestant Christianity to others. The film ends on an ominous note suggesting that these people are preparing and actively participating in some sort of cultural war. All Jack is saying is that this is a forum to discuss movies, not debate religion. If anyone wants to debate religion, or politics, there is another forum, called the Sense O'Clock News, the requirements of belonging have already been posted here. Attempts to turn this thread into a debate on religion will either result in this thread being moved to the politics forum, or locked. Both results mean that discussion is shut down for you, since you re not yet allowed in the politics forum. Please, just respect the rules for discussion. In time, you'll get access to the politics forum, where comments like the ones you made here, are perfectly acceptable. Welcome to TRF!
  19. QUOTE (The Rocinante @ Mar 12 2008, 11:46 PM) QUOTE (LoneStar Boogie @ Mar 12 2008, 09:16 PM) I dated Spitzer's hooker! I didn't
  20. I didn't read any of the Bourne books, so I am not straddled with the knowledge of how the storyline is being changed, or even hi-jacked. This movie was very enjoyable for me, and my wife liked it a lot, too.
  21. QUOTE (TheRocinanteKid @ Mar 5 2008, 07:38 AM) QUOTE (nimagraven @ Mar 5 2008, 12:05 PM) I feel like the only person in the world that finds ricky gervais horribly unfunny. But whatever floats your boat LOL Nah.. I'm with you. He sucks. I actually like him. My main experience with him was from the movie Night at the Museum, where he played a small role as the museum director. I thought he played it very well, and he was the most memorable person from the movie, for me anway. I wished he'd had a larger role.
