    Kikaida

When I was a kid (3 years-8 years old) my family was stationed in Hawaii and the local stations aired the adventures of the Japanese superhero Kikaida (some in the states knew him as Kikaider). Here is what he looked like: http://incolor.inebraska.com/stuart/kikaida/kikaida1.jpg I loved this as a kid. I couldn't get enough of it. The show was subtitled in English (they aired the show with the original Japanese dialogue) so that is really how I learned to read. The show is now available on DVD so I bought a few episodes and enjoyed it all over again. It was cheesy, yes, but to a young boy, it was the best show ever! Does anyone else remember this guy, or heard of him?
  2. Loved the S.W.A.T. theme too. I was just a young pup, but I loved the show as well, along with Starsky & Hutch.
  3. Very cool! I've never been much of a Downey fan, but he does a great job in that trailer. Lets hope the rest is as good. It looks excellent. Can't wait to see it! Thanks Jack.
  4. I thought Chris was a comic legend, in case you didn't know. Matt Foley rocks!
  5. If its from Milch, I'll definitely give it a shot. Deadwood rocked.
  6. http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...388&hl=big+love season 2 is not out on dvd yet. it just wrapped up about 2 months ago, so give it a few more months (HBO is typically very slow getting their series onto DVD, with the exception being the last season of the Sopranos, due out next week.)
  7. Do they really think they can keep Jack Bauer in jail? C'mon, the guy will find a way out of there within minutes. He always can get himself out of a jam.
  8. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Oct 6 2007, 08:28 PM) I was pretty surprised to see the guy who played the leader of the black gang...For those who watch Weeds he's the dude who plays U-Turn. Totally different characters for sure Yeah, I noticed that too. He also did a stint on "The Shield" for one season. Earl is just a fun show thats always good for a few laughs. It certainly will never win any awards, but thats not what I watch it for
  9. I hope this season will be better than last. I was a bit disappointed with last season. Even with the DVR, I always sat down and watched 24 when it was on. Last season after the first few episodes, I just left it for when I could get around to it.
  10. I watched about half of this. I guess his style of humor just isn't for me. I didn't think he was funny. I chuckled a few times, but he never made me really laugh.
  11. "Taxi" and "Starsky & Hutch" were two of my favorites. Andy Kaufman was a riot and Huggy Bear was "da man"
  12. I thought it would be "Indiana Jones and the Big Bottle of Geritol" Seriously, I hope Ford can pull this off. If he can't it will stain the legacy of some good movies.
  13. QUOTE (mazyyz @ Aug 29 2007, 11:16 PM) The question is: Would Johnny Depp have done a better job than Val for that role? Depp is certainly a capable actor, an interesting choice for the role and would have brought his own unique stylings to the character. But I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Kilmer did. I know I said it before, but this is one of my favorite movie performances of all time.
  14. wolverines!!!!!!!!!! yeah, its a cheesy one, but I loved it at the time.
  15. I remember seeing Tombstone a few days after its release in theaters. I came out of that movie and said to my wife, "If Kilmer doesn't win an Oscar for that performance it is a complete miscarriage of justice." Kilmer should have won. No doubt. One of the most amazing performances by an actor I have ever seen. Kilmer's Holliday is one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

Glad to see Walsh is back. I formally retract my earlier comments about Walsh. The guy is provides some great plot lines for the show. This past Sundays episode was much better. They have gotten back on track.
  18. QUOTE (floydfanatic111 @ Aug 16 2007, 11:49 AM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Aug 14 2007, 12:39 PM) I enjoy On An Island although I haven't listened to it in months. It is a very mellow, relaxation-type album. I haven't heard his other two solo albums (self-titled debut and About Face), but I'd like to check them out. His first solo album is a straight out rock record with one ballad on there. About Face was more 80s sounding with the horns on Blue Light and You Know I'm Right and with some of the synthesizers on the record but Until We Sleep, Murder, All Lovers Are Deranged, Let's Get Metaphysical and Near the End are superb tracks. I've been listening to About Face since I downloaded it and I agree that some of the material does sound a bit dated, but I think as a whole it still holds up well. All Lovers Are Deranged is timeless, though. That song simply rocks It has been a pleasure listening to this one again. Talk about walks down memory lane, this disc provides them for me.
  19. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Aug 13 2007, 08:51 PM) Snowdog...you should check out his new album since you're such a fan of About Face. Do you have his first solo album (the self-titled one)? I have heard "On An Island" and its an admirable effort. I haven't bought it, though. Its one of those that you think, "Hey, I need to get that" but never seem to get around to it. And, no I have never owned or even heard his first self titled solo release. Sounds like I've got some catching up to do.
  20. Thanks to this thread, I've had tunes from his "About Face" album in my head all day. I had to go to iTunes and download it. "About Face" was one of those albums of my youth that I just wore out, literally. I am looking forward to many listens of this great work in the coming days. Thanks for reminding me about this one.

QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 13 2007, 04:28 PM) Last night's episode was okay, too. Entertaining, at least. I'm wondering, though, when they're going to stop with the meandering and get back to some real storylines. My thoughts exactly after watching last nights episode. They need to get back to the Walsh storyline, the Medellin opening, etc. These "side trips" don't do the show justice. I started watching season 1 on DVD back in April, I think and I burned through seasons 1, 2 & 3a just before the season 3b premiere and I was really into this show. But the last few eps have been lacking.
  23. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Mar 7 2007, 12:34 PM) QUOTE (astronomer @ Mar 6 2007, 08:52 PM) Happy B-day. Sure could use some new floyd. Gilmours solo effort wasn't bad. I have all three of his solo albums. I like them all, but I'm extremely prejudiced. About Face was an incredible album. "All Lovers Are Deranged" was my favorite track, but all of them were solid. Happy Birthday to Dave, whom I agree, is one of the all time greats.
  24. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Aug 12 2007, 02:50 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Aug 12 2007, 01:48 PM) Everytime i turn to HBO, all there ever showing is there own original programing. I have no problem with there shows, there good but geez, i want to watch a movie once in awhile. I suggest HBO start an original programing channel for the folks who love them, and give there subscribers some actual movies which is what i believe im paying for. Thanks for listening, you may now dissagree with me. I have FIOS (like digital cable) and there are 13 HBO chennels (incl mutliple time zones of same channel) - I think if you only have regular HBO, thats why youre suffering. They should change that for more variety on flagship station. Ditto. I have 8 HBO's and there is always a few movies on somewhere. My gripe is the movies they do show. IMO, they're original programming is much better than most of the movies they show.
  25. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Aug 12 2007, 02:21 PM) So we still don't have any idea whether Geddy, Alex, and Neil read this site...but at least now we know that Mike Portnoy does. Hi Mike! Good point!! It was an uncomfortable moment for RR without a doubt. But look at the silver lining: Dream Theater obviously visit TRF from time to time
