  1. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 6 2009, 02:09 PM) it should be re-named THE MUSIC HALL OF FAME that way when they let rap and dance music in no one will care . let us not forget, it is run by those clueless a-holes at rolling stone Absolutely. Calling it "The MUSIC Hall of Fame" would end all debates about the crappy artists getting in!
  2. QUOTE (tick @ Apr 6 2009, 09:09 AM) I guess when they made the album "Load" they were telling us what we would get from them for the remainder of there career. BTW...as much as I LOVE Load, I can tell you that they sure didn't get into the HOF because of it. If anything...it was the BLACK ALBUM.
  3. Well, there are two things I will say here. 1) RUSH not being in the HOF is a travesty, but that's obvious. We've been there many, many times. Metallica themselves, have continuously dropped RUSH's name in all their interviews. BTW...for anyone who didn't see their induction speech, check out James' speech. Right on the "big stage", he put Rush's name out there! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jz96Ry4pUg&feature=related 2) METALLICA BELONGS IN THE HOF. There are very few bands over the last few years that I would say are worthy of true HOF status, but Metallica are definitely one of them. Van Halen also comes to mind. I don't care if people want to bash the Black Album, Load, ReLoad, or whatever. Personally, I loved all of those albums. Did they change their style over the years? Absolutely. Some still loved it (like ME), and some hated it. But that's okay. Even if for any reason you hated those 90's albums, you can certainly still admit that those first four albums (Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice For All) are all Metal Classics. I also personally enjoyed Death Magnetic. It's great to see them getting inducted right after putting out a pretty solid effort IMO. I've never looked at the band as "sell outs". I personally, don't believe in that "stay true to your roots" crap. The band decided to go in a different direction after ...AJFA, and there are over 22 million reasons why it was a great choice. I don't look at the Black Album as a "sellout", I look at it as a f'n great album. To this day, it's still one of my most played albums, and I think it showed that they were capable of changing direction. As RUSH fans, we should see the good from that. We love a band that constantly changes from album-to-album, and we never call it selling out. If Rush's next album suddenly sold 22 million copies, would we call it selling out? Now don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those guys that believes in sales numbers as factors that determine your greatness. But come on, they're probably the biggest selling metal band of all-time, they tour all-around the world to multiple sold out shows even today, and they are well-known to everyone, even those who hate their music. You hear the name Metallica, you immediately think "BIG". I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or anything. I'm just saying, IMO, whether you love them or hate them, METALLICA is well-deserving of being in the HOF. Before Rush? Obviously not...but they themselves would agree, and it's not their fault that the morons who select the bands constantly overlook not only RUSH, but tons of other very deserving bands! The same can be said for KISS. Whether you hate them or not, how can anyone say they don't deserve entry into the Hall? That's ludicrous. This is all just my opinion though!
  4. QUOTE (Paulio91184 @ Mar 27 2009, 01:41 PM) My and an artist friend of mine are designing one. I'm going with a tat on my lower leg all the way aroung my leg. It's based on neil's R30 drumset. I'm taking logo's from the dirrerent albums and making a collage. I'll post a picture of what i come up with and see what you think. So far I have the Starman logo with the AFTK "Rush" writing or the logo as the main part on my outer calf. RTB skull, GUP egg in Vise, and the Counterparts nut and bolt so far.I Like the S&A arrow too. What else do you guys think? Anything from signals? Each logo will be small with a circle or something similar around it and we are designing a connecting idea now. It's kinda like a tribal band but not tribal. Any Ideas? Also could you guys post some other logos and stuff i'm sure combined i can get some ideas. What do you think of my idea. It will be kinda like this. =O=O= =O=O= around my leg. O denotes a logo That's a pretty sweet idea dude. You'll have to keep us posted on how it comes along, and show us the pics. From the image in my head, it sounds great!
  5. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Mar 27 2009, 08:32 AM) Now tattoos are hugely popular. And I've realized that Rush has been a definite constant in my life for 25 years and that's not likely to ever change... so I wouldn't mind getting a Rush tat. Oh absolutely. That's pretty much the exact same thing that's held me back. I keep thinking...what if I don't want that on me later in life?! That, and I'm so damn indecisive, that I'll never know what to get! But yeah, that's exactly why I said if I ever got one, it would be RUSH-related. They are absolutely the one thing I can always count on. I will always be a fan.
  6. ^^^ NICE RG!! Personally, I love seeing other people's tattoos, but don't think I'd ever actually get one myself. However, if I ever changed my mind, I would for sure get something RUSH related. That is for sure! So many outstanding artwork choices!
  7. QUOTE (metaldad @ Mar 26 2009, 11:27 AM) corny song titles , sub-par music . everything you have come to expect from hagar . 6 months ago he was saying it sounds like TOOL meets ZEP . i heard 2 song's , nothing of the sort Well, I agree with the ZEP comment. I think that's just Hagar's excitement getting to him. That, and he was probably just trying to get people to take notice. He certainly isn't the only artist to do that kind of thing. I also agree about the "corny" song titles, but that's just them. All 4 of those guys have a sense of humour, and love to just have fun. Personally, I actually dug the songs quite a bit. They're not CLASSIC or anything, but I think they're fun, and they certainly are better than what I was originally expecting. All IMO of course!
  8. QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Mar 12 2009, 02:45 PM) QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Mar 11 2009, 01:11 PM) Hmm...that's interesting indeed. It most likely is a direct reference, as Neil is usually influenced by the things he observes and reads. I'm particularly fond of the Pepsi-Cola and General Foods International Coffee influences. Yes, well thankfully he's not influenced by EVERYTHING he sees!
  9. QUOTE (tick @ Mar 11 2009, 07:28 AM) Start your day with this gem, and be happy ! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x260hd_dr...-the-time_music Yes, one of the 8 reasons why I consider 'Images & Words' my favourite DT album!! Simply outstanding!

  11. QUOTE (tick @ Mar 6 2009, 02:53 PM) QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Feb 23 2009, 11:56 AM) I got I&W yesterday, and so far aside from Pull me Under, Another Day, and Metropolis (my favorite song on this CD) I don't like it as much as 6DOIT, SFAM, or Train of Thought. Sorry, I hear all their fans think it's the best but it's #4 for me. Still good, but I like the other ones I have more so far. What's with Pornoy's snare drum sound? It sounds like he's playing an electric set or something. Very weird. the keyboards are also very low in the mix for a lot of the songs it seems like. 50 listens in, you will still be appreciating I & W, more, and more. Its an epic album. I love it. However it took me many listens before I really got it. When it finally hit me, I could not stop listening to it. This is certainly true. That is, except for 'Pull Me Under', which connected with me almost immediately. I swear, the tone of those opening notes is absolutely unreal. Honestly, one of the greatest intros to any song IMO. It's almost like they are soft and peaceful, and yet powerful as they build into the drums coming in. Just an exceptional piece of music. But Tick's theory is correct, especially for all other tracks besides 1 & 2. (I originally bought I&W after hearing 'Another Day')

Sorry, I hear all their fans think it's the best but it's #4 for me. Still good, but I like the other ones I have more so far. Interesting. To each his own, but personally, I&W has to be one of my favourite albums. I think every single track is strong. Yes, Pull Me Under is absolutely epic. Certainly my favourite DT song without a doubt! But songs like Take The Time, Learning To Live, and Wait For Sleep are absolutely tremendous, poetic pieces of work. The whole album has a story-telling, epic feel to it IMO. I will admit though, I have lots of unheard DT that I have yet to familiarize myself with. So, I'm only basing my opinions on what I have heard from DT.
  13. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Mar 3 2009, 01:30 AM) http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/8840/rushdemotivate1.jpg http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/8915/rushdemotivate2.jpg GREAT STUFF!
  14. Nice!! How is it so far?? Which album(s) does it sound most similar to?
  15. TD, That's sweet! So, does that artwork mean you got your copy already?? Or is that just from the Internet? If you did get it...can you (or anyone else) give us your review of the album? Mine is still in the mail...CAN'T WAIT!!!
  16. QUOTE (treeduck @ Feb 3 2009, 02:40 PM) QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Feb 3 2009, 10:09 AM) BTW...this is a question for anyone with 'Decoding The Tomb of Bansheebot': Isn't the song "Disecto" on this album? When I look it up on other sites, it lists it as being on this album, but on TDRS, it doesn't have it listed. Just wondering...because I love that song! Yeah it's on the album, here's the tracklisting: 1. "Materilalizing [sic] the Disembodied" 2:04 2. "Asylum of Glass" 4:36 3. "Ghost Host" 3:08 4. "Killing Cone" 4:21 5. "Bloodless" 4:06 6. "Checkerboard Incision" 4:02 7. "Circarama" 2:15 8. "Disecto" 2:22 9. "Pickwick's Lost Chapter" 0:33 10. "I Can Only Carry 50 Chickens at a Time" 3:06 11. "Stretching Lighthouse" 3:19 12. "Hall of Scalding Vats" 6:25 13. "Sail on Soothsayer" (In Memory of Aunt Susie 1932-2007) 6:29 Notice that Ghost Host, Checkerboard Incision, Stretching Lighthouse appear to have sequels on Slaughterhouse. Plus Rack Maintenance from Kaleidoscalp has a sequel on there too. Pumpkin Pike might be a sequel to Stun Pike and Jack in a Box Head too. Yup...I thought the same thing when I saw "Checkerboard", "Stretching", and "Goat" in the titles. It should be interesting! I do love all of those songs anyways, so if the "sequels" are as good, then this album will be worth it for sure!
  17. Arguably...my two favourite albums. Gotta give the nod to... MOVING PICTURES HEMISPHERES

  19. Well...just made my first ever purchase on TDRS. I ordered both Slaughterhouse on The Prairie and Decoding The Tomb of Bansheebot. It will be nice to finally hear these tracks on CD, rather than constantly sitting on Youtube!!
  20. Nope...haven't seen it yet, but definitely plan to soon! Being the huge resident WWE fan here, I've seen and heard tons of previews and reviews about the movie, and everyone mentions how good it is. Maybe I'll check it out this weekend...
