The solo was redone, no? It's stronger (to me anyhow) on Deadwing. I think that's why they re-did it for Deadwing. Steven Wilson did not like the LBS version so he re-did it. BTW the live version of Shesmovdon is closer to the Deadwing version than the LBS version. Just like "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here". Awesome live! FYI...I made audio CDs of the live DVD release for my commute to work. It gets regular spins. It has got to be one of my favorite live productions ever. what software reccomendations do you have (free software) to use for audio ripping from a dvd? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/355156 You will happily get out your Rush DVDs as well to obtain those tracks that don't appear on the audio release. There are only a few of those, however.

  5. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jun 2 2008, 12:28 PM) I'm going with "Sheep". "Raving and drooling I fell on his neck with a scream!" All of the lyrics on this album are simply fantastic. I went with Dogs because it is so epic, but I have to admit, the lyrics to Sheep are haunting.
  6. This is my favorite Floyd album. For you who have, I bet ya love it! So outside of the acoustic beginning and end to the album, which full band recording do you like best?
  7. No one is mentioning the high quality of the XM transmission? It really bring the quality of musicianship to light. It almost sounds studio. Harrison shines on Tinto Brass.
  8. Prom pics of my oldest son...times sure does fly by. 9. QUOTE (failte @ Apr 21 2008, 08:52 AM) Candlebox will release their fourth studio record, "Into The Sun," on July 22, 2008. The album's first single, "Stand," hits radio on May 12! I hope it's as good as their other releases. These guys are good.
  10. QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ May 29 2008, 10:23 AM) Ga-raaaaaay! I'm finally gonna listen in tonight to the WHOLE show! Also, you mentioned chat.... is that the live chat? Because I can't get in it! It just brings up a blank screen..... Peace back at ya, Xanadu93 (or Tim, or "The Dude!!" Do you have Java installed?
  11. QUOTE (deadwing2112 @ May 23 2008, 09:44 PM) Any recommendations on what pt album I should buy next? I have the latest 3 and Up The Downstair. Right now I'm leaning towards On A Sunday In Life... Well if you like Up the Downstair, then get more early stuff. I have a lot of trouble getting into the early music.

QUOTE (deadwing2112 @ May 20 2008, 09:06 PM) QUOTE (Soni @ May 19 2008, 10:54 AM) QUOTE (Did Lee Squat? @ May 19 2008, 12:04 AM) OK I just bought Fear of a Blank Planet (my first PT album) the other day on a whim and after several listens I'm pretty dang impressed. I've only got one question: Are all of PT's albums as dark and gloomy as FOABP? It just ain't a very happy album and I find it a bit depressing. well yes, you have some "happy" songs on Deadwing, Stupid Dream and, Lightbulb Sun, but not buch. (Great album huh? Most of them probably are all pretty depressing. Steven Wilson said he finds gloomy, depressing songs to be the most beautiful. I have been on a big PT binge lately. Listening to In Absentia right now. I have PT listening binges too. I thought I was alone in that. Seems about once a month I listen to all the PT I have.
  15. QUOTE (ladirushfan80 @ May 21 2008, 08:24 AM)I watched the 2nd episode of the season finale of HOUSE last night. I'm glad to see the cut throat bitch, Amber go. i never liked her character, and was especially disappointed to see her hook up with Wilson. Sure Wilson is sad, but it's not House's fault AT ALL. I hope he can see thru his grief and understand that. House called Wilson's looking for WILSON. It was Amber's decision and hers alone to go and "save" House. It was Amber's fault she abused drugs. None of this is Houses' fault. Interesting close to this season. I'll be watching next season to see what they do with it. This is weird but I found Amber's bitchiness oddly hot in a sexual sort of way. No kiddin'. Originally I wanted her gone only because I wanted Hottie McHotterson (LOL...love that name) to stay on the show.

What a very sad episode. Season 5 will be kick ass. I have to admit, I was not left with the warm fuzzies after that episode. I couldn't believe they had House showing emotion. He is getting weak? I wouldn't say he is getting weak. Weak is a word for assholes like him. He is feeling remorse and fear because now his only friend in the world has every reason to resent the shit out of him. Granted House has had this coming for some time. Wilson has reveled in the fact that Amber understood House being on his level as a complete bitch. That she could fearlessly stand up to him and tell him the way it is. This leaves open a helluva storyline for next season. Man, I am still f**ked up about the ep last night. House really is well aware of his dispostion and wants to die. He must live to face himself and get what he deserves. Yeah, but House also risked his life to save her. If they have Wilson holding a grudge against him for that, I will not be a happy viewer. They shouldn't have killed off Amber. And what about 13? Testing positive. I hope this isn't leading to her leaving the show too. Although I miss seeing Cameron all the time, even if 13 is hot. Wilson is grieving. For sometime he will not see that particular aspect, that House put his ass on the line for Amber. All Wilson will see is that Amber would not have been dead had House not have been drinking himself stupid in the bar. Wilson won't even see close enough to the pill issue which have killed her heart which was inevitable anyway. The bus accident just made her heart have to work faster when she was in shock. Amber was going to die none the less. I think this show is all about lonely and depressed people in denial. Everyone on the show is alone and hate their life to a large degree. I am not to worried about 13's Huntington's disease but I do wish they'd ditch Chase Yeah, I don't like Chase's character. Oh, and what about Cutty holding House's hand at the end of the show? Will there be a matching up of these two? Personally, I don't think they make a good match.

  20. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ May 17 2008, 06:01 PM) It seems Tour Of A Blank Planet has leaked! Tracklist; Disc one -------- What Happens Now? Blackest Eyes Fear of A Blank Planet The Sound Of Muzak Lazarus Nil Recurring Anesthetize Waiting (Part One) Sentimental Disc Two -------- Open Car Dark Matter Half Light A Smart Kid Way Out Of Here Sleep Together Trains Halo No My Ashes This is a bootleg, not an official release. It is a very decent sounding boot for aud. Almost soundboard. If it is soundboard it is not very good.
  21. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Apr 18 2008, 06:08 AM) QUOTE (arctangent @ Apr 18 2008, 07:44 AM) QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Apr 17 2008, 04:27 PM) Plus, labels on music are just as normal as the sun rising and setting, so I'd imagine you'll have to get used to it. why? someone who doesn't know porcupine tree might be put off by the prog label (i know i would have been... to me prog makes me think of bands like genesis, elp and yes. eeeuuw!) but if they listened to the band first without hearing what they might be labeled under by certain people they might love them. bands are percieved by the labels hung on them which is why it ticks mr wilson off so much. besides, who decides what the label of 'prog' actually means? right, i'm off to listen to some post-metal-prog-hardcore-grunge-house-emo-drum'n'bass-punk music Have you read anything I've posted so far? Obviously not, but there we go. I've been trying to say they're not prog, and if someone asked me what they were like, I'd never call them a prog band. Why? First thing most people ask me about a band is what kind of music do they play, and it's easier to say; "They're a rock band" or "They're electronic" than sing a whole song to them. You wouldn't call a footballer a sportsman, you'd call him a footballer, and that still conjures up bad images but it doesn't stop anyone from doing it. They are as Prog as Rush is, IMO.
  22. QUOTE (ladirushfan80 @ May 10 2008, 07:22 AM) No offense folks but there's a game section on the board for this kind of thing... and actually, I think it's a great idea for a game! I love playing 20 questions!! Perhaps an admin could move it?
