  5. I just finished this series last night and this is some great stuff. This show is basically a less vulgar Superbad/Knocked Up tv show. This show should never have been canceled. Anyone else seen it?
  6. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Nov 16 2008, 05:08 AM) Thanks, now I'll never have to watch "Vanilla Sky." From hearing the spoiler that sounds like a cool premise for a movie. Better DVR it!
  7. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Nov 10 2008, 08:25 AM) QUOTE (Necromancer @ Nov 10 2008, 07:25 AM) I know you weren't defending it, but I gotta think that movie houses make a ton of money on the ticket price alone. Especially if it's a hit and gets a lot of people. Not on the "ticket price alone." The profits from ticket sales go almost entirely to the distributor houses and the movie studios... the producers, director, actors, key grip, etc. I can bring you some exact figures if you want, since I have some relatives in the business, but I think theaters only make a couple dimes on every ticket sale. Theaters make almost all their money on concession sales. Look at it this way: the hit movies are just a draw to bring customers into the theater's crummy little "restaurant." It's not much different than the Ground Round. Think of the overhead involved in running a theater, add to that what I've already said about profits coming from concession sales alone, and it's a wonder theaters make any profit at all! So to save on expenditures, they pay their college-aged employees with slave wages and the promise of free movies. Trust me, I know. I've worked there for a few months myself, and I still have relatives who manage Regal Cinemas. Again, I'm not defending the practice. I don't want to spend $4.50 for a small soda, either! But this is the way it is. I work at a Carmike Cinema and this is exactly the case.

  10. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Oct 24 2008, 05:05 PM) I love the first 'Saw', but I was really disappointed in the second one. I didn't think it needed a sequel, but since the first one made so much money, I can't blame them too much for doing it. However, where the first one was a fresh and cool idea for a horror/suspense movie with a fantastic ending that shocked the Hell out of me (I love when that happens), it seemed to me that the second one was your below-average formulaic genre movie made quick and dirty with it's only goal being to cash in on the success of the first one. So, with that being said, are 3-5 worth watching, or should I just pop in my director's cut of 'Saw 1' and re-watch it instead? Saw 1 was a fantastic movie. Saw 2 felt rushed and wasn't very good at all. Saw 3 was much better then the second, but not as good as the first. Saw 4 was decent, hardly remember it at all though. Saw 5 was pretty good too, the story wasn't as complex as 3 and 4. *Spoiler* If I remember correctly Saw 3, 4, and 5 basically take place at the same time and just give you more information about Jigsaw as the movies progress, with a few traps thrown in.
